Description
The present invention relates to a method for decortifying woody plants, in particular trees and / or shrubs. The aim here is to protect a respective section resulting from the entastening against environmental influences and to support or improve the healing process of the plant.
In the course of a tree or shrub care individual branches must be removed. In particular, high-starch cuts are usually made in the vicinity of the trunk or in the immediate vicinity of the branching woody structure forming the branch. As a result of Astabschneidens the wood plant forms so-called callus tissue, which closes the resulting wound to the outside.
Furthermore, from Stangl, M: "My hobby is the garden"; BLV publishing company; in Munich; 1992; Pages 170-180 describe the cutting off of strong branches of trees. In this case, the branch should first be sawed in the vicinity of the trunk from below and then sawn away from top to bottom by a hand's breadth from this interface. Finally, the remaining branch stumps are sawn off close to the trunk so that no "coat hooks" remain. The wound should remain as small as possible, because it then heals faster. Subsequently, it should be spread with a wound closure agent.
The formation of this protective callus tissue, especially in trees over an extended period of time, often extends over many years. In woody plants, the callus arises from the so-called cambium or cambium ring, a hollow cylindrical growth layer between the sapwood zone and the bark. Callus growth is typically associated with ring-like bulging. It has been shown that rot processes can be used in the growth phase of the callus tissue, which irreversibly can damage not only the wound or interface, but also the entire plant per se.
The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide an improved mechanical aftertreatment of cut surfaces resulting from knifing, which is particularly cost-effective and counteracts without significant additional expense of rot or fungus formation and thus supports the growth of protective callus tissue.
This object is achieved by a method for decortification of woody plants according to claim 1, wherein advantageous embodiments are the subject of dependent claims.
The method according to the invention is intended for decortification of woody plants, in particular of trees and / or shrubs, but also of vines and ridges. It provides that at least one branch of the crop is cut off by means of a separating tool, and that after the actual cutting process, a protective device is provided on the plant-side cut surface, which protects the branch stump formed by the cutting, in particular its cut surface against penetrating moisture.
By protecting the cut surface from moisture, especially against driving rain, fungus formation and associated putrefaction processes can be counteracted without the use of any chemical protective agents.
The invention thus provides a purely mechanically implemented protective device for a woodcut side cut surface, which prevents the penetration of moisture into the branch stump in a largely natural way.
It provided thereby to form the protective device by cutting the branch stump itself. In this case, the branch stump formed by cutting off the at least one branch can be partially cut in in particular from below, namely to form a drip lid. Such a drip lid formed by cutting in sections of the branch stump forms the protective device for the branch stump. It is so far not necessary to carry a separate guard and manually attach to the branch stump. The protective device is formed in a simple manner by the cutting technique described in the branch stump itself.
In an advantageous embodiment of this it is further provided that the branch stump, based on its branch cross-section, is cut into the medullary canal of the woody plant. This proves to be advantageous cutting depths that amount to at least two-thirds of the cross section of the branch stump to form the Abtropfdeckel. Since the medullary canal of woody plants mostly runs in the center of the branch stump, a cut depth extending at least two-thirds or even three quarters of the branch cross-section can in any case provide a cut extending into the medullary canal.
In an advantageous embodiment it is further provided that the one or more branches separating and / or forming the drip lid are performed such that the drip lid forms a sloping or substantially vertically downwardly draining surface for accumulating moisture, especially for driving rain.
In this case, according to a further preferred embodiment, it is further provided that the one or more cuts separating the branch and / or forming the drip lid are performed such that a drip edge formed at the lower end and / or at the bottom of the drip lid is horizontally spaced from a lower edge of a stump-side cut surface comes to rest.
Also, in this case, the thickness of the Abtropfdeckels be chosen so that it can be ensured in any case that from the drip edge of the drip lid running down or dripping water does not reach the knot-side cut surface, but drips on deeper areas of the plant tissue or directly on the ground.
According to a further preferred embodiment, the drip lid is formed by means of a wedge cut tapering towards the middle of the branch. On the one hand, this makes it possible to form a sufficient distance between the drip edge and the knot-side cut surface. On the other hand, a comparatively firm and stable connection of the drip lid to the remaining branch stump can be provided by the wedge-shaped section tapering towards the middle of the branch.
