Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Befestigen einer Abdeckscheibe an einem Gehäuse einer Beleuchtungseinrichtung eines Kraftfahrzeugs. Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zu Grunde, auf möglichst einfache und effiziente Weise Lageabweichungen der Abdeckscheibe einer Beleuchtungseinrichtung und ihrer unmittelbaren Fahrzeugumgebung, insbesondere der Karosserie des Fahrzeugs, zu minimieren. Zur Lösung dieser Aufgabe wird ausgehend von dem Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art vorgeschlagen, dass zwischen dem Gehäuse und der Abdeckscheibe wirkende Auflagepunkte mit Toleranzausgleichsbereichen vorgesehen sind und das Verfahren folgende Schritte umfasst:
- – Vermessen einer Toleranzsituation des Gehäuses zwischen den am Gehäuse ausgebildeten Auflagepunkten für die Abdeckscheibe und mehreren an einer Karosserie des Fahrzeugs ausgebildeten Befestigungspunkten, an denen entsprechende Befestigungselemente des Gehäuses befestigt werden;
- – In Abhängigkeit von der Toleranzsituation des Gehäuses Ermitteln einer Menge an Material, das von dem Toleranzausgleichsbereich mindestens eines der Auflagepunkte abgetragen werden muss, damit die Abdeckscheibe in einer Montageposition möglichst bündig zur Karosserie an dem Gehäuse angeordnet werden kann;
- – Abtragen der ermittelten Menge an Material von dem Toleranzausgleichsbereich des mindestens eines Auflagepunkts;
- – Anordnen der Abdeckscheibe relativ zum Gehäuse, wobei die Abdeckscheibe durch die Auflagepunkte mit den Toleranzausgleichsbereichen in der Montageposition positioniert wird; und
- – Befestigen der Abdeckscheibe an dem Gehäuse in der Montageposition.

Von diesen Toleranzausgleichsbereichen kann, in Abhängigkeit der gemessenen Abweichungen zwischen der Lage der Befestigungselemente am Scheinwerfergehäuse und der Position der Befestigungspunkte an der Fahrzeugkarosserie, eine entsprechende Menge an Material am Gehäuse und/oder an der Abdeckscheibe abgetragen werden.
