Man ist an bestimmte Formen der Speiche gebunden, die der Aerodynamik schädlich sind. Genauer muss die Speichenform bei konventionellen Laufrädern am felgenseitigen Ende rund ausfallen, um die nötige Verbindung und Formschlüssigkeit herzustellen. Aufgrund der hohen Winkelgeschwindigkeit am äußeren Rand des Laufrads ist diese Verrundung der Speichen aerodynamisch ungünstig.
