Abstract

The ship vessel has photovoltaic cells for power generation, where the canvas is used for solar power generation.

Description

One Sail is a well-known tool to use the driving force of the wind for sailing ships.

Through the latest research in the field of organic photovoltaics (see: Solar Report dated 21.08.2007; Author Rolf Hug: "Organic Photovoltaics: Solar Power Made of Ultra-Thin Color and Plastic Films" under http://www.solarserver.de/solarmagazin/solar-report_0807.html ) it is soon technically possible to produce solar power from wafer-thin plastic films. These organic photovoltaic cells can be laminated onto the canvas of a ship's sail without this sail losing its necessary flexibility and elasticity. The sail can thus be overtaken and rolled up as usual, such as in a storm. The power generated is fed via cable along the mast in a battery system and ensures the self-sufficient power supply of the ship. In periods of drought, an electric drive can additionally drive.

Die Erfindung spart Betriebskosten und erhöht den Komfort durch einen kombinierbaren Elektroantrieb, welcher lautlos arbeitet.ever according to size and purpose of the ship thus reduces the service life of the ship's diesel or completely to be dispensed with the diesel. The invention saves operating costs and increases comfort with a combinable electric drive, which works silently.
