  • The invention relates to a method for fixing a seal carrier carrying a seal on a receiving part, in particular on a sheet metal flange of a motor vehicle body, wherein the seal carrier, the receiving part is pushed in a U-shape encompassing the receiving part.
  • From the DE 20 2005 021 016 U1 It is known to postpone a U-shaped seal carrier on a glass. For fixing the seal carrier to the glass pane, an adhesive, preferably a double-sided adhesive tape, is applied to the base surface prior to assembly of the seal carrier.
  • The DE 43 05 427 C2 shows and describes a sealing profile strand with a throat, in which a binder is arranged.   • The DE 30 11 032 A1 discloses a sealing lip which is mounted on a seal carrier which engages around a body flange U-shaped. Between the seal carrier and the body flange, a clamping and adhesive connection is formed.
  • The present invention has for its object to provide a method which makes it possible to ensure a precisely fitting attachment of the sealing element even with low yielding sealing elements.
  • The object is achieved in that a curing adhesive is applied to the two legs and to the base part of the seal carrier and / or the corresponding surfaces of the receiving part, then that the seal carrier is pushed onto the receiving part that the seal carrier relative to not yet cured adhesive is aligned to the receiving part, and that after curing of the adhesive, the placement of the seal is carried out on the seal carrier. Thanks to the new procedure, it is thus possible to precisely position a seal over the adjustable seal carrier, even with larger tolerances. The adjustment takes place via the not yet cured adhesive.   • The new method has the great advantage that the seal carrier is adjustable in all three directions. This is achieved in that the U-shaped seal carrier is only in contact with the receiving part via the adhesive. Since no screws are necessary for fastening the seal carrier, a very fast assembly is possible with improved adjustability. Rubber, but very compact are therefore less suitable to bridge larger gaps. Such seals are used, for example, to create a reliable seal between the movable components and the vehicle body in passenger cars with a fabric top or a hard top. This teaching may, for example, be based on the components to which the seal is intended to rest. But other reference points can be used for a reliable adjustment of the seal carrier. It is therefore not necessary to connect the actual seal with the seal carrier in advance for setting purposes with not yet cured adhesive. As a bonding agent for the new process, a fast-curing two-component adhesive is particularly advantageous. By choosing the adhesive composition, the curing time can also be determined very well.
  • According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention, the seal carrier can be a plastic injection molded part and the seal can be connected to the seal carrier by means of a latching connection. This allows a quick installation, in which the selected setting is maintained. It is also possible to replace the seal if necessary without damaging any of the components.
  • The method for fixing the seal carrier will be described in more detail below with reference to a drawing showing an already assembled seal assembly.
