Auch die Siegelstation weist ein Oberwerkzeug 49 und ein Unterwerkzeug 50 auf, die beim Siegeln gegeneinander gepresst werden. In dem Oberwerkzeug 49 befindet sich ein Siegelrahmen, der ebenfalls mittels eines Heizelementes beheizt wird. Die nunmehr geschlossenen Verpackungen werden abschließend in einer Schneidstation 51 vereinzelt. In beiden Fällen erfolgt die Einstellung dieses Spaltes erfolgt die beiden Keile 2, die, wie durch die Doppelpfeile dargestellt, aufeinander zu bzw. voneinander weg bewegt werden können, durch eine Bewegung aufeinander zu wird das Unterwerkzeug relativ zu der Auflage 46 angehoben, während es beim Auseinanderziehen der beiden Keile 2 abgesenkt wird. Die beiden Keile 2 weisen vorzugsweise einen Antrieb, beispielsweise eine Spindel auf, wobei sich in dem einem Keil ein Rechts- und in dem anderem Keil ein Linksgewinde befindet. Durch Drehen der Spindel werden die Keile 2 gleichzeitig aufeinander zu bzw. voneinander weg bewegt. Dadurch wird eine Schrägstellung des Unterwerkzeuges 45 vermieden. Die Keile 2 können jedoch auch jeder einen eigenen Antrieb aufweisen. Diese Ausführungsform hat den Vorteil, dass Toleranzen bezüglich der Planheit der Unterseite von Werkzeug 45 mit den Keilen 2 ausgeglichen werden kann. Vorzugsweise erfolgt die Einstellung des Spaltes A automatisch mittels einer Steuerungseinheit der erfindungsgemäßen Verpackungsmaschine. Basierend auf der Höhe des Werkzeuges, der zu verarbeitenden Folie und/oder dem Druck, der bei der Siegelung erzeugt werden soll, stellt die Maschine automatisch den gewünschten Abstand zwischen dem Oberwerkzeug und dem Unterwerkzeug in der sogenannten Schließstellung ein. Diese Informationen können beispielsweise auf Transpondern oder sonstigen Informationsmedien, die von der erfindungsgemäßen Verpackungsmaschine auslesbar sind, automatisch erfasst und eingestellt werden. Des weiteren weist die erfindungsgemäße Verpackungsmaschine eine Kamera 9 auf, die den Spalt zwischen den beiden Werkzeugen erfasst.
