Der Dachhimmel ist mit der Fahrzeugkarosserie über einen Befestigungspunkt nahe bei zumindest einem Ende der Sollknicklinie verbunden. Auf diese Weise ist der Airbag durch den Dachhimmel normalerweise verdeckt, und es ist dennoch keine aufwendige und teure Aufreißlösung im Dachhimmel notwendig, damit sich der Airbag im Falle eines Unfalls in den Fahrzeuginnenraum entfalten kann. Allerdings wirken auf den Dachhimmel beim Abknicken des Rands des Dachhimmels hohe Kräfte. Der Dachhimmel muss entsprechend fest mit der Fahrzeugkarosserie verbunden sein, damit er sich nicht aufgrund der hohen Kräfte lösen kann.
