Die Kommunikation zwischen den Nachrüsteinheiten erfolgt über nachrüstfreundliche, also möglichst berühungslose Kanäle, wie beispielsweise DECT, WLAN, Bluetooth, Infrarot, kabellose Kommunikation von Wagen zu Wagen, Powerline-Kommunikation über die Stromversorgung der Nachrüsteinheiten oder Bodyline-Kommunikation. Das Problem der Systemkonfigurierung wird gelöst durch automatische Erkennung der Nachrüsteinheiten mit automatischer Einbindung in das System.
