Die Ionenaustauschmittel sollten insbesondere in einer an sich bekannten Weise für einen gleichermaßen Kationen- und Anionenaustausch ausgebildet sein. Solches Material ist beispielsweise erhältlich als Produkt der Dow Chemical Company unter deren Handels- bzw. Markenbezeichnung Dowex MB-50. Die Zusammensetzung und Wirkungsweise dieses Ionenaustauschmittels ist beispielsweise beschrieben in einer Information der Dow Chemical Company unter der Bezeichnung Form No. 177-01633-1003.
