The idea of equipping elastomers, especially latex articles, with biocidal substances is not new. So far, however, manufacturers are limited to the use of organic biocides so as not to impair the mechanical and physicochemical properties of the polymer. DE 689 24 981 T2 describes antimicrobial objects, production and use using the example of gloves, using only organic biocides such as Trichlohydroxydiphenolether. DE 38 52 067 T2 Includes antimicrobial medical gloves. Again, only organic biocides such as chlorhexidine find application, and this only in addition in a coating and not in the polymer itself. Furthermore, methods are known which rely on organic liquid biocides in cured elastomer films, such as EP 0687 283 B1 describes. The use of inorganic biocides based on silver, copper or zinc ions is in the field of coating elastomers, such as latex, state of the art. DE 691 32 478 T2 describes, for example, the preparation of active surface coatings with Ag, Cu, Zn, as a biocidal agent. So far, there is no indication that it has been possible to incorporate such permanently acting inorganic biocides without limitations in the latex itself.
Biozidrichtlinie (Biozid-Produkte-Richtlinie 98/8/EG vom Februar
Of the
Invention is the object of the invention, an opportunity for incorporation
permanently acting biocide materials
in elastomers, especially in latex. Requirement is
the preservation of chemical, physicochemical and mechanical properties
the elastomers. Another need of this invention is
in the European
Biocidal Products Directive (Biocidal Products Directive 98/8 / EC of February
1998),
which prohibits many of the organic biocides used so far.

the invention
antimikrobielle Beschichtung herzustellen. In erster Linie finden
In leicht abgeänderter
According to the invention

In
physikalische bzw. chemische Verfahren belegt.

In quantitative terms, the following is provided: The active ingredient-containing material is occupied before incorporation into the plastic matrix depending on the modifier and the particle size of the biocide with 1-25Gew% of the organic substance by physical or chemical methods. Thereafter, the modified biocide, depending on the effectiveness and duration of action, in amounts between 0.1 wt% and 15 wt%, based on the solids content of the polymer solution, via mixing methods such as Dissolverrührer, incorporated into these. The further processing and component forming then takes place according to the prior art, such as in DE10139710 explained. To test the effectiveness of the novel composites, laboratory tests were carried out with Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538) as a reference organism following the reference method ASTM E2180-01. In the following, the invention will be further explained by means of experimental examples.
