Abstract
A set of stairs has two upright side members resting and pivoting at the base on horizontal pads, and linked to a platform at the top by pivots. The horizontal steps are linked to the side members by pivots and a handrail that sets the steps in the horizontal position, irrespective of the height difference between the top platform and the base pads.
