Meist ist eine vom Motor angetriebene Zentralpumpe vorhanden, die unmittelbar in die Bewegungszylinder der verschiedenen Einrichtungen fördert. Diese Pumpe muß daher so bemessen sein, daß die geforderten Bewegungszeiten der hydraulischen Einrichtungen eingehalten werden; in den Leerzeiten fließt die Pumpenförderung drucklos in den Behälter zurück, während für den raschen Einsatz eine Überbemessung der Pumpe erforderlich ist. Es sind auch Flurfördergeräte bekannt, bei welchen in die Kraftübertragung vom Motor zum Fahrwerk ein hydraulisches Zwischenglied, z. B. ein Drehmomentenwandler, eingeschaltet ist. Dieser Wandler sorgt einmal für eine elastische und schwingungsdämpfende Übertragung des Motordrehmoments auf das Fahrwerk, das im übrigen ganz normal mit einem Differential ausgerüstet ist. Der weitere Sinn für die Zwischenschaltung eines nach dem hydrodynamischen Prinzip arbeitenden Wandlers ist der, das Stufengetriebe wegzulassen und eine stufenlose Schaltung für das Fahrwerk zu erreichen.
