Description
Process for the preparation of penta and hexachloro derivatives of 5-oxybicyclo- [2, 2,1] -heptens- (2) The preparation of bicyclo- [2, 2, l] -heptens- (2) is known. For example, US Pat. No. 2,425,173 describes its production by condensation of ethylene with cyclopentadiene according to Diels-Alder. The synthesis of the 5-oxy derivatives of bicyclo [2, 2, l] -heptens- (2) is only possible in a roundabout way, since the vinyl alcohol being considered as a dienophile partner is not stable. It is therefore necessary to first react the corresponding ester with the diene and then to make the alcohol by saponification. The synthesis of the appropriate 5-Acetoxybicyclo- [2, 2,1] -heptens- (2) is in a corresponding manner according to Alder and Rickert, Liebigs Annalen der Chemie, Vol. 543, 1940, p. 15, possible. Receives the acetoxy derivative in yields of about 30 to 40 ° / ", if you use cyclopentadiene and vinyl acetate condensed under pressure at temperatures of about 180 to 190 °.
At normal pressure, on the other hand, there is practically no conversion. With However, no such reactions have been known to date with chlorinated cyclopentadienes.
It is true that chlorinated cyclopentadienes are already available for diene syntheses used (Org. Reactions, Vol. IV, 1948, p. 6, or German Patent 711 474). In contrast to hexachlorocyclopentadiene, however, z. B. the tetrachlorocyclopentadienone described there because of its pronounced reactivity as a monomer under normal conditions inconsistent. In the methods of U.S. Patents 2,616,899, 2,528,656 and 2,622,096, however, vinyl compounds in the narrower sense are not used for which Oxygen is bonded directly to the carbon atom carrying the double bond. Halogenated dienes are also not the subject of German Patent 710 131. It was also to be expected that the non-activated derivatives of vinyl alcohol a show similar behavior, such as 1, 2-dichloroethylene or vinylidene chloride, which also does not react with halogenated cyclopentadiene according to Diels-Alder. If it is well known is, cyclopentadiene with vinyl acetate and various other unsaturated To implement compounds according to Diels-Alder, the less reactive can Hexachlorocyclopentadiene neither with vinylidene chloride, tetrafluoroethylene, asymmetric Dichlorodifluoroethylene still to react with 2,3-dichloropropene. So that is Ver use of hexachlorocyclopentadiene for the Diels-Alder synthesis is not a generally applicable one Reaction. The lower reactivity of hexachlorocyclopentadiene is also possible still evident from the fact that z. B. Cyclopentadiene almost instantaneously with maleic acid reacts, while with hexachlorocyclopentadiene at temperatures of about 40 ° at all no implementation takes place. The in monthly journals for chemistry, vol. 83, 1952, p. 807, The reactions described cannot therefore be regarded as generally valid.
Verwendet man z. It has now been found that penta- and hexachloro derivatives of 5-oxybicyclo- [2.2, l] -heptens- (2) can be prepared in very good yields if correspondingly chlorinated cyclopentadienes are used with vinyl acetate, optionally in the presence of solvents, reacted at normal or elevated pressure, at elevated temperature, and the 5-acetoxy compounds obtained are converted into the corresponding alcohols by hydrolysis. It is surprising that, in particular, the reaction at normal pressure already leads to the goal and the desired products are obtained in good yield. If you use z. B. hexachlorocyclopentadiene as the starting material, the reaction according to the invention proceeds according to the following reaction scheme: Steric isomers can thereby be formed.
The same applies to the less chlorine-containing cyclopentadienes.
