Description
Process for the production of an optionally urea filler and chromate-containing waterglass adhesive. The invention relates to Production of a water glass adhesive (water glass) with a high adhesive capacity against cellulose-containing substances, such as in particular that for layered papers or Cardboard used paper, no adhesion to heated metal surfaces having. With the help of the adhesives according to the invention, cardboard in particular can be made produce while avoiding certain difficulties that have arisen up to now.
In the usual production of laminated papers and cardboard are the individual sheets provided with adhesive and stacked one on top of the other to form one pressed into a thicker layer. This operation is used in the manufacture of corrugated cardboard usually carried out so that one layered paper sheet over a number heated counter-pressure surfaces can run while using rollers against the heated Pressing surfaces, the water glass is drained and the layers are glued together will.
Difficulties often arise when the water glass is damp and sticky with the corrugated and pressure rollers and the counter pressure surfaces of the hot plate drying device comes into contact and forms hard, glass-like deposits on it, whereby the Rolls are spoiled and production is interrupted to remove the deposits must become. In addition, a proportion of the water glass adhesive occurs when the Layer structure between the rollers and the counter pressure surfaces of the hot plate dryer at the edges of the structure and is applied to the heated surface of the counter pressure surfaces deposited. After a relatively short time, these deposits collect from exuded adhesive on the surface of the counterpressure surfaces and form at the edges of the continuous layered ply ridges or hills, being them due to the heat of the counterpressure surfaces to hard, firmly adhering water glass in solid Form to be drained. These deposits then easily damage the edges of the Layer structure running over the surface of the hot counterpressure surfaces. To the Removal of the deposits then the entire operation must be interrupted. There the water-free water glass adheres extremely firmly to the counter-pressure surfaces, is a significant amount of time and manual labor to remove the deposit and necessary to repair the surface.
It is known that by adding urea to ° one of the usual Waterglass adhesives solve the problem listed above, as this creates an adhesive which is just as effective as far as the connection between the layers is concerned is like an unchanged water-based; laser adhesive, but essentially differs from the heated metal surface spontaneously peel off. As the amount of urea to be added to the silicate debris between 8 and 5% of the adhesive mixture has been suggested. Such known waterglass compositions are usually used for reasons of cost and other reasons with various other additives, some of which are used to reduce the required amount of urea have proven to be useful. Such adhesives a considerable amount of water must also be incorporated, e.g. B. 14 to 20 ° / o and at a few to about 30 ° / a, the water being a good initial dispersion of the Additions in the water glass causes.
The hardening with dehydration is then achieved that one lets the paper surfaces provided with the adhesive run through a device ' the z. B. is heated to about 165 °, the paper web at 90 to 150 m / min, usually at about 107 m / min. A decrease in this speed however, this is not desirable, which is why the only way left is the composition to be modified in such a way that the amount of water is considerably reduced. The present The invention aims, among other things, to achieve this object, with an adhesive is aimed at the opposite of the heated metal surfaces to form the La = minate used counter pressure surfaces has no significant adhesion and at a low percentage of urea still has good adhesive strength in strong humid environment.
According to the invention, therefore, a waterglass solution is mixed with it Substances that, on the one hand, do not reduce the adhesiveness of the dehydrated adhesive, on the other hand, however, give the adhesive the property, not the heated one Metal surfaces with which it is in contact comes, especially not- to adhere to the parts of a plant for the production of cardboard, and the above in addition, a particularly high moisture resistance and improved drainability have during processing.
It has been found that by incorporating a small amount one fat, d. H. stiffenable oil in the known, above-described water glass adhesive the amounts of urea and water required to achieve particularly good results can then be reduced considerably or the urea can be omitted entirely can, thereby reducing the prime costs for the adhesive, -during at the same time the speed of the processing devices in which the Means used is kept within the preferred range. These improvements can be achieved using the known basic substances without thereby the other desirable properties of the adhesives are impaired.
The addition of oils to special adhesives based on silicate, such as acid-proof water glass kitten is already known, but it is. around unsaponifiable mineral oils, which have the task of making the cement more elastic do. In contrast, according to the invention, fats, i.e. H. so saponifiable oils are used. While the putties with the addition of mineral oil adhere particularly well to metal, the Adhesives according to the invention have the opposite property.
The agents according to the invention contain, in addition to the known basic materials, namely water glass solution, urine and other additives (wetting agents, salts, fillers etc.), a saponifiable oil, conveniently an unrefined crude oil. As a salt additive especially alkali chromate or bichromate comes in a known manner, expediently Sodium dichromate, as a filler in the usual way finely divided clay, preferably an aluminum silicate of particular fineness with an average particle size a few microns in diameter. One such material is under the trade name "Bardenclay" available. It is a clay of the kaolin type with 38 to 40% A1203 and 43 to 46 0 / a Si 02.
Any suitable animal or saponifiable oil can be used as the fatty oil of vegetable origin can be used. Drying oils, such as linseed oil, cottonseed oil, Menhaden oil and soybean oil are particularly suitable. Other useful oils are e.g. B. Corn, copack, sesame and similar oils.
Even if precise proportions are not necessarily important in the adhesives according to the invention, certain compositions have proven to be particularly useful. They contained about 60 to 85, preferably 75 to 800 %, of an aqueous waterglass solution with a content of 35 to 45% solids, in which, on average, to 1 part Na, 2.5 to 4, in particular 3 to 3.5, preferably 3.3 parts of Si 0 was present; expediently a small amount, e.g. B. 10/0 anionic wetting agent, e.g. B. an aromatic monosodium sulfonate from petroleum, alkyl aryl sulfonates, coconut oil and the like sulfonates; 2 to 10, preferably about 3 to 60 / o urea; 0.1 to 3, preferably about 0.3 to 1%, fatty oil; 0; 1 to 10/0 alkali metal dichromate and about 3 to 10, preferably 5 to 6,% water.
Other substances such as types of sugar, such as tanning sugar (up to 5%), magnesium sulphate (up to 3%) and clays (up to 20) / o) can be added to the substance compositions, if this appears desirable in special cases.
The order in which the additions are made is not essential; it turned out however, as expedient, first put the silicate with the wetting agent in a mixing apparatus to introduce, - then add and mix in the oil; this is followed by urea, Clay, water, etc. as an aqueous mixture.
The agents produced according to the invention can be used on a device known design for the production of cardboard or other layered papers on the same Kind of how the well-known Slikat adhesives are used.
angeführt: Beispiel I
I hergestellten.- Example II A mixture is prepared according to Example I, wherein but only 5.50 /, water used and 0.20 /, alkyl-aryl sodium sulfonate as wetting agents can be added. The wetting agent does not adversely affect the adhesive and the oil will be somewhat better dispersed in the mixture. Its properties are essentially the same as that prepared according to Example I.
Beispiel III
Beispiel IV
It is clear that with the means according to the invention in any case favorable effects can be achieved in which there is on the one hand a short drainage time matters, but on the other hand that of the adhesive sticking to metal surfaces related difficulties do not arise. Therefore, according to the invention suitable adhesives with particularly low water content are produced at which the urea has been omitted entirely, but which, according to the invention, are rich Contain oils. Such compositions are of course included in the invention.
