Abstract
Zum Herstellen von Lactulose wird eine alkalische waeszrige Loesung von Lactose und Borax hergestellt und auf eine Temperatur oberhalb 80C erhitzt. Aus den entstandenen Umsetzungsprodukten wird die Lactulose abgetrennt. Auszer dem Borax wird der Loesung kein alkalisierender Stoff zugegeben. Die Umsetzung wird bei p H 8,3 durchgefuehrt. Um die Natriumionen im Produktionskreislauf zu halten, kann das Borax in einer waeszrigen Loesung von Borsaeure und bereits zugleich der Lactose hergestellt werden, indem die Natriumionen aus der Loesung der Umsetzungsprodukte durch Elektrodialyse in die Loesung der Borsaeure ueberfuehrt werden. Die Natriumionen koennen stattdessen auch aus der Loesung der Umsetzungsprodukte soweit moeglich mittels eines schwach sauren Ionenaustauschers und erst anschlieszend mittels eines staerker sauren Ionenaustauschers entfernt werden. Der schwach saure Ionenaustauscher wird mit Borsaeure regeneriert, so dasz wieder Borax entsteht.{Lactulose; Herstellungsverfahren; Lactose; Borax; Umsetzungsprodukte; alkalisierender Stoff; Natriumionen; Produktionskreislauf; Borsaeure; Elektrodialyse; Ionenaustauscher}To prepare lactulose, an alkaline aqueous solution of lactose and borax is prepared and heated to a temperature above 80 ° C. From the resulting reaction products, the lactulose is separated. In addition to the borax, no alkalizing agent is added to the solution. The reaction is carried out at p H 8.3. In order to keep the sodium ions in the production cycle, the borax can be prepared in a liquid solution of boric acid and at the same time of lactose by transferring the sodium ions from the solution of the reaction products by electrodialysis into the solution of boric acid. Instead, the sodium ions can also be removed from the solution of the reaction products as far as possible by means of a weakly acidic ion exchanger and only then by means of a stronger acidic ion exchanger. The weakly acidic ion exchanger is regenerated with boric acid, so that again borax is formed {lactulose; Production method; lactose; Borax; Reaction products; alkalizing substance; Sodium ions; Production cycle; Boric; Electrodialysis; Ion exchangers}

The invention relates to a process for the production of lactulose, in which an alkaline aqueous solution of lactulose and borax is prepared and heated to a temperature above 80 ° C and from the resulting Umsetzungsprod icts the lactulose is separated.
This method is known for. From Chemical Abstracts 86: 173392h. Since the reaction requires the alkaline medium, sodium hydroxide is also added. The yield of the process is comparatively high; boric acid forms a complex with lactulose which shifts the equilibrium away from lactose. From the lactose continue to be produced as reaction products galactose, tagatose, other sugars, organic acids and dyes.
The invention has for its object to provide a likewise economical, but less polluting process for the production of lactulose.
In order to achieve this object, it has been found that the above-mentioned process can also be carried out if, apart from the borax, essentially no alkalizing substance is added to the solution.
The Abwasserbefrachtung with alkali salts - which arise after removal of the alkali ions by ion exchangers when regenerating the ion exchanger - is thus significantly reduced.
As a further step in this way, the process enables the sodium ions to be recycled according to two developments of the invention:
One proposal is that the borax in an aqueous solution of boric acid, preferably already at the same time the lactose is prepared by the sodium ions are transferred from the solution of the reaction products by electrodialysis in the solution of boric acid.
In this way, a complete reuse of sodium ions is possible.
It only takes two separate chambers separated by a cation exchange membrane. One chamber is connected as a cathode chamber and with the boric acid solution, preferably boric acid-lactose solution, flows through. The other, switched as the anode chamber chamber is flowed through with the solution of the reaction products. Under the applied voltage, the sodium ions pass into the former chamber, so that there forms a Borax solution.
The other suggestion is that the sodium ions from the solution of the reaction products are substantially, as far as possible removed by means of a weakly acidic ion exchanger and only then by means of a more acidic ion exchanger and the weakly acidic ion exchanger is preferably at least partially regenerated with boric acid and the resulting Borax is at least partially reused.
Aber auch, wenn der schwach saure Ionenaustauscher nicht mit BorsäureIn other words, as long as the sodium ion concentrations in the solution of the reaction products are so high that even a weakly acidic ion exchanger binds the sodium ions, such is used. Only for the complete separation of the sodium ions from the solution then a strongly acidic ion exchanger is used. By preferentially regenerating the weakly acidic ion exchanger with boric acid, the sodium ions bound by it remain circulating in production. Only the remainder {enters the sewage. But even if the weakly acidic ion exchanger does not use boric acid
Umweltfreundlich ist zum Beispiel Kohlensäure.is regenerated, its use is beneficial. It can be regenerated in any case with a weaker, less polluting acid. For example, carbon dioxide is environmentally friendly.
As a further inventive embodiment of the method is proposed that for separating the lactulose, the solution of the reaction products after separating the sodium ions, before or after separating the Boratioiien, preferably after evaporation to 15 to 20% dry matter by one with a weakly basic ion exchanger filled long container is performed as a chromatography column, preferably at 30 to 60 0 C, wherein water is tracked. This new use of a lonenau exchanger leads to an excellent separation of the lactulose, but also the galactose from the mixture of the reaction products. It is eino lactulose with a purity of over 99% achievable, which was previously possible on an industrial scale only with incomparably greater effort.
*Finally, as a last step of the method and development of the invention proposed for the production of lactulose powder thickened lactulose solution of a purity of at least 90% lactulose in the dry matter so slowly to give a kept in motion, preferably stirred, lactulose powder , preferably to spray, and to disperse therein so quickly and finely that the lactose solution always forms only a thin film on the surface of the powder particles, from which the solid grows on the Pulverteilchon. *
As is known, it is not possible to crystallize lactulose simply by concentration from aqueous solution. For the production of lactulose powder, methanol or another organic solvent, in which the lactulose has a lower solubility and precipitates, has hitherto been present. The mechanically separated and dried powder is then always contaminated with a residue of the solvent.
The proposed new method, in contrast, allows the production of a high-purity, free-flowing, only slightly hygroscopic lactulose powder.
The deciding factor in this procedure is the slow addition and instantaneous spreading and spreading of the lactulose syrup on the granules into a thin film. Also only local accumulations of the syrup are to be avoided. Above all, not already crystallized material should dissolve again in the syrup.
Suitable for z. B. spray dryer, paddle dryer and other hot air dryers with stirrer. The above proposals for the formation of a borax solution by electrodialysis, the removal of sodium ions from the solution of Ums' 'r' s products by means of a weakly acidic ion exchanger, separating the lactulose using a weakly basic ion exchanger as Chromalographieiesäule and the preparation of a Lactulose powders are all within the scope of the task for the process according to the invention conducive, but also applicable in each case in another context with advantage.
175kg Lactose-Monohydrat, 46,3 kg Borax und 800kg deionisiertes Wasser werden auf 95°C erhitzt und 3 Stunden auf dieser Temperatur gehalten.175 kg of lactose monohydrate, 46.3 kg of borax and 800 kg of deionized water are heated to 95 ° C. and kept at this temperature for 3 hours.
The result is a mixture of reaction products, which contains mainly 74.2 kg lactulose, 75.3 kg lactose, 8.0 kg galactose and 0.8 kg of tagatose.
The resulting sugar mixture solution is passed through a weakly acidic ion exchanger and then over a strongly acidic ion exchanger, so that the originating from the borax sodium ions are removed.
Dann wird die Lösung auf 15% Trockensubstanz eingedampft. Then the solution is evaporated to 15% dry substance.
At this concentration, the solution is passed through a chromatographic column consisting of a weakly basic ion exchanger.
Concretely, the column consists of a hollow cylinder about 90 cm in diameter and 2 m in height, filled with 1000 l of a weakly basic ion exchanger.
The figure below shows the achieved separation of the solution components.
As it turns out, with almost no loss, an almost pure lactose fraction free of lactose can be obtained. Especially surprising is the sharp separation of lactose and lactulose.
The lactulose solution obtained is freed from the boric acid in a boron-specific exchanger and then z. B. in a vacuum of 40mbar to a content of 65% lactulose. There is then a marketable syrup.
However, the syrup can also be converted into a powder.
This is z. B. a steam-heated paddle dryer (De Dietrich SP 200) of 200I total content and 1301 net capacity, stirrer speed 10U / min applied. In the container 20kg lactulose powder are presented, and with a flow rate of 21 / hr. a total of 100kg of syrup heated to 6O 0 C is sucked in. Then it will be 30min. nachgotrocknet.
From the removed powder remain 20kg as a template for the next batch.
Statt der obenbeschriebenen Zugabe von Borax könnte auch wie folgt verfahren werden:Instead of the addition of borax described above, it would also be possible to proceed as follows:
It is replenished with deionized water. The resulting solution, which at least partially regenerates the ion exchanger with the boric acid and absorbs the sodium ions, is adjusted to pH 8.3, the pH of the above-described lactose-borax solution, with sodium hydroxide solution.
The implementation then takes place as in this solution.
