Abstract
The masked crack detection method is suitable for quality control on metallic finishing layers. The aim of the invention is to be able to detect even masked cracks and pores with little technological effort. The invention has for its object to increase the validity of the previously known tests and also detected masked cracks and pores. The invention is characterized by the implementation of a suitable heat treatment in the diffusion stage A, whereby the masked cracks and pores can be detected as a result of increased diffusion of base material to the surface. The invention is applicable in the field of electrical engineering / electronics, especially for quality control and monitoring in the manufacture of electrical contact components to.
Description
Verfahren zum nachweis maskierter Risse und PorenMethod for detecting masked cracks and pores
Anwendungsgebiet der ErfindungField of application of the invention
The invention relates to a method for detecting masked cracks and pores, which is suitable for quality control in electrical engineering / electronics, especially at finishing layers.
Charakteristik der bekannten technischen LösungenCharacteristic of the known technical solutions
There are hitherto known methods that allow the detection of cracks and pores in finishing layers that go through to the base metal base. With these methods, however, masked cracks and pores that do not reach the surface can not be displayed. Masked cracks and pores in addition to the continuous, especially with respect to the diffusion of the base materials by a cover layer also have a negative effect.
The detection of masked cracks and pores by means of cross-section technique requires a great deal of work and provides no information about a larger area.
Ziel der ErfindungObject of the invention
The aim of the invention is to be able to detect even masked cracks and pores with little technological effort.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
The invention has for its object to increase the validity of the previously known tests and also detected masked cracks and pores.
According to the invention, the object is achieved by carrying out the detection in the form of a suitable heat treatment of the samples, so that the base material which diffuses intensively on masked cracks and pores to the surface is detectable there.
The temperature is to be chosen so that the diffusion stage A is present, d. h., Diffusion preferably occurs via structural defects and internal surfaces of cracks and pores.
In the case of unmasked layers, cracks and pores are also shown using this method.
The invention will be explained in more detail in the following embodiment.
A sample with the layer sequence Cu-Pd-Au (4 μm Pd, 1.5 μm Au) is annealed at 150 ° C. for 260 h and examined by light microscopy before, during and after annealing at magnifications of 100-250. On the gold layer, no cracks were visible before annealing.
After approximately 200 h, reaction products appear on the gold surface, which can be attributed to the reaction of the Cu diffused by the Pd cracks and the Au layer with the ambient atmosphere and reveal the position of the masked cracks and pores.
