Abstract

In the present invention there is disclosed a package with airtight closed wrapper (1), having a longitudinal closing seam (2) being folded flat on the wrapper (1) along a folding line (16). The package comprises a tearing element (5) in the form of a strip or a fiber that is placed as a loop beneath the wrapper (1) transversely to the seam (2). The wrapper (1) and the seam (1) are provided with two partial cuts (8, 9) across the folding line (16) and along the tearing element (5) on one and optionally also second side thereof.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a sealed package having a longitudinal rim or closure fold provided with a tear-off tape device for easy opening.

It is known that in many areas of the food industry, particularly in the case of sweets and pasta, it is widely used in the distribution of packaging products in which food products placed in relatively rigid boxes or trays of plastic or cardboard material are further inserted together with the rigid wrapping in a sealed wrapping, generally made of sheets of different materials (paper, aluminum, plastic) joined together.

The function of the packaging is to protect food products from ultraviolet and visible radiation, external contamination, water, bacteria, fungi and insects.

One particularly used type of packaging is the type known as a flow-pack, in which a flat rectangular sheet of packaging material is first folded so that the opposing edges meet, then they are welded together to form a form of hose in which to be protected and which is further closed at both free ends.

The various edge welding operations are generally accomplished by the simultaneous application of heat and pressure.

This type of packaging is characterized by a longitudinal rim formed by applying two edges of the packaging material to each other, which are then welded together and two transverse flaps that seal the packaging tightly.

Opening this package without a cutting tool (scissors, knife) is particularly difficult due to the rigidity of the material used for the package and involves the risk of damage to the product contained therein.

Desirably, this type of packaging is provided with a device for easy opening using a tear tape of the type used for other types of packaging and for other types of products, such as cigarettes, chewing gums and the like, wherein the thin plastic film of the packaging is cut by fiber; a strip located within the wrapper around the inner container or article itself so as to form a loop whose ends overlap but are not welded. Tearing off one end opens the loop, splitting the entire outer shell into two parts.

However, it has not yet been possible to achieve a combination of both of these, i.e. the flow-pack with a longitudinal rim and the tear strip in one package and achieve the desired results.

In fact, efforts to combine these two features have helped to form packages where the tear strip may be successful in tearing and cutting the package where it does not overlap at its edges, but is not successful in the flaps and specifically in the longitudinal hem where the package is relative to the sealed of the closure is particularly stiffer, relatively stiffer and sharply folded outwardly due to the shape of the other surfaces of the package, which assumes the shape of the inner container or article and is therefore flat or most convex.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to the invention, this result is achieved by the package comprising a sealed package in which a tear strip extending across the longitudinal sealing lip and a fold formed by the skirt is located, wherein the tear strip intersects the skirt provided with incisions that locally weaken the package and thereby reduce its stiffness; facilitate the transverse rupture process caused by the tear strip when opening over the hem.

According to a further aspect of the invention, the incisions are associated with a particular shape of the seam weld that forms the opening tear initiator and the protection zone for the incisions.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

It has already been suggested that the incisions 8 and 9 may pass completely or only partially through the material of the container 1. However, it is evident that the incisions 8 and 9, which completely pass through the material, may be hermetically sealed after incision by a suitable topical treatment with simple sealing effect (e.g. or gelatin).

Protection of the area weakened by incisions 8 and 9 and its sealing against external stresses, pressures and impacts is ensured by folding the flange 2 to one side during the packaging operation.
