Abstract

A sealed wrapper (1) has a longitudinal closure fin (2) folded flat on to it along a fold line including a strip (5) or thread-like tear element disposed in a loop under the wrapper and transversely of the fin. The wrapper and the fin have along the fold line, two incisions transverse to the fold line and alongside, respectively on one side and the other, of the tear element. The incisions pass right through the wrapper material, and are impermeable. The flap has a sealing band separated from the fold line, at least in the region of the tear element and the incisions by an unsealed reserve zone.

Description

The present invention relates to a ribbed package, in particular a package with a sealed package having a longitudinal rib or a closing fold provided with a tear strip device for easy opening.

It is known that in many areas of the food industry, particularly in the case of sweets and pasta, this packaging is widely used in the distribution of products, packages in which the food products are further enclosed in relatively rigid boxes or trays of plastic or cardboard material together with a rigid container in an airtight container, generally made of sheets of different materials (paper, aluminum, plastic) joined together.

The function of the packaging is to protect food products from ultraviolet and visible light, external contamination, water, bacteria, fungi and insects.

One particular type of packaging used is known as a flow-pack, in which a flat rectangular sheet is first folded on top of one another so that the opposing ends overlap and are welded to form a form of hose into which the product to be protected is placed. further sealed at both free ends.

The various edge welding operations are generally performed simultaneously by heat and pressure.

This type of package is characterized by a longitudinal rib formed by the edges of the package material placed side by side, which are welded, and by two transverse folds that seal the package.

Opening this type of package without a cutting tool (scissors, knife) is partly difficult due to the stiffness of the material used for the package and entails the risk of damage to the product contained therein.

It is desirable to provide this type of packaging with an easy opening opening using a tear tape of the type such as in other packs, such as cigarettes, chewing gums, etc., a device used where a thin film of plastic is cut with itself so as to form a loop with overlapping ends, but not welded. Thus, by tearing off one end of the loop, it separates the entire part of the outer shell into two parts.

Unfortunately, up to now, it has not been possible to combine both of these properties, especially the long-pack rib and tear strip in a single package and achieve the desired results.

In fact, efforts to combine these two properties have helped to form packages where the tear strip is likely to succeed in tearing and cutting the package where it does not overlap at the ends, but not in the folds and specifically in the longitudinal rib where the package becomes thicker, stiffer and sharply folded outwards with respect to the shape of the other surfaces of the packaging, which assumes the shape of the inner packaging or article and is therefore flat or at most convex.

Rather than cutting the fold at the fold, the tear strip separates from the fold without obtaining the desired result of splitting the package into two separate portions to allow easy removal of the contents.

In order to overcome this disadvantage, the present invention provides a package having an airtight package and a tape device for easily opening the package, in which the problem is completely eliminated and the package can be completely separated into two separate parts by means of a tear strip.

Thanks to the invention, this result is achieved in that the package is in an airtight package in which the tear strip extends across the longitudinal sealing rib and the fold formed by the rib, where the tear strip intersects the rib and thus makes a cut that locally weakens the package and thereby reducing its rigidity and making it easier

the transverse process is cut through the rib which is caused by the thread.

In view of the following aspect of the invention, the cut is associated with the particular shape of the rib weld that forms the breakaway initiator and the reserve cut zone.

The features and advantages of the invention will become clearer from the following description of the preferred embodiment of the invention and variants thereof with reference to the drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a blow-pack having a tear strip according to the present invention;

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the package of Figure 1 at an early stage of opening the package using a tear strip and showing a cross-section of the package that allows complete opening by tearing the package and rib;

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the package of Figure 1 at the final stage of opening;

Figures 4 and 5 are a front and cross-sectional view of portions of the longitudinal rib and wrapper, including cuts to allow peel open and reserve zone and cut punch initiator.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an airtight pack package provided with a wire / strip breakaway opening device according to the present invention.

The wrapper 1 has a longitudinal weld rib 2 and two transverse welds 3 and 4 which approximately define a rectangular volume.

The tear strip or thread 5 is mechanically, as a self-adhesive film, thermally or otherwise suitably mounted transversely to the longitudinal rib 2 on the outside of the package depending on the material of the package; one end 6 of the strip 5 projects from the welded rib, and the strip extends around the wrapper to form a loop with overlapping ends.

Figure 1 shows that the longitudinal rib 2 is folded with one edge towards the viewer with a double transverse weld at the ends, so that the path of the strip 5 in the region corresponding to the end 6 is, if not

 straight, at least slightly curvilinear, at the other end 7, the track is sharply bent into a U-shaped rib.

As noted above, unless there are other measures, the strip 5 will not be able to tear off the entire package on which, as can be better seen in Figures 2 and 3, two small notches 8 and 9 are formed during the packaging operation which are along the tear strip in the fold 10 at the edge of the package inside the fold.

As shown in Figure 1, the opposing edge 11 outside the tab has two notches 12 and 13 that are along the edge 6 of the strip to facilitate initial tearing at opening.

The notches 8 and 9 in Figure 2 and the notches 12 and 13 in Figure 1 may have an overall length of the order of 2-6 mm and may extend entirely through the material (in the case of packages that do not require hermetic sealing of the product) or only partially and depending on the material, from which the package is made can be formed by simple knives, heated knives or punch knives with calibrated depth.

Figure 2 shows the initial stage of opening the package and Figure 3 shows the final stage of this operation.

When the tearing on one side of the strips 5 caused by the pulling of the strap reaches two notches 8 and 9, the portion of the package inside the tab and the notches no longer held by the other rib parts outside the notch will therefore yield and fold the tab thereby avoiding sharp breakage of the tape when tearing off.

The peeling process can thus continue without disadvantages beyond the rib formed by the rib and thus completely separates the package and the longitudinal rib.

It has already been indicated that the notches 8 and 9 may extend entirely through or only partially through the material of the package. However, it is evident that the incisions that completely pass through the material may, after cutting, be hermetically sealed by a suitable topical treatment with a simple hermetic closure result (for example, film or gelatin).

Protection of the weakened indentation and its hermetic sealing against external stresses, pressures and impacts is ensured by bending the rib to one side during the packaging operation.

According to a further aspect of the invention, so that the hermetic closure and rib forming operations cannot in any way affect the properties of the notches, between the contours of the rib of the rib and the hermetic closure site, is a reserve zone in which the notches are located.

It is best if the reserve band can be limited to a limited area.

These aspects are schematically illustrated in Figures 4 to 7.

Figures 4 and 5 show a section in front and cross-section. 15 a longitudinal rib and alow-pack, oriented perpendicular to the surface of the package.

It is clear that during the packaging operation, the portion of the rib shown is folded in a plane perpendicular to the drawing along the contour of the fold 16 indicated by the broken line.

In fact, after the packaging is complete, parts of the package are separated and removed perpendicular to the plane of the drawing along this line.

The hermetic closure of the rib and the treatment consists of a zone 17 which leaves a reserve zone 13 in which the notches 8 and 9 lie between the contour of the tab and this zone, which lie between the two walls of the rib and indicated by a dashed line

The notches 8 and 9, although formed prior to the hermetic sealing operation, are not affected by this treatment.

As shown in Figures 6 and 7, which show the front and cross-section of the longitudinal fold portion 15, the hermetic tab closure zone 17 alternatively extends to the folding outline of the package, but has a smaller width in accordance with the tear strip 5 and the notches 3 and 9. leaving a reserve zone 18 of approximately triangular shape indicated by broken lines in which the notches 8 and 9 are capable of forming walls.

In this zone the two rib walls are not joined and therefore the reserve zone 18, as well as ensuring that the notches 8 and 9 are not affected by the hermetic fold sealing operations, provides a more powerful initiator that facilitates the peel operation.

With these measures, notches can be easily obtained that are a combination of impermeability (by controlling the depth of the notch or subsequent hermetic seal) and local structural weakening of the package so that the package and fold can be torn off by means of a tear strip.

Claims (5)

Patent claims A package with a hermetically sealed package having a longitudinal closure rib folded flat on said package along a contour of the fold, comprising a tear element in the form of a tape or thread placed in a loop underneath said package and transversely across said rib, said package and said rib having along said contour two notches across said contour and along one and the other side of said tear-off element. The package of Claim 1, wherein said notches extend through the package material. The package of Claim 1, wherein said notches are impermeable. A package according to any preceding claim, wherein said tab has a hermetically sealed zone separated from said warehouse contour at least in the region of said tear-off element and said notches by means of a reserve zone that is not hermetically sealed. A package according to any preceding claim, comprising a sealant film applied to said package and said tab in accordance with said notches.
