Η μέθοδος για τον προσδιορισμό του σχήματος και της θέσης ενός υποβρύχιου ανυψωτήρα (3) που εκτείνεται από μια πλωτή εξέδρα (1) περιλαμβάνει τα στάδια του υπολογισμού ενός παραμορφωμένου σχήματος του ανυψωτήρα (3) μέσω ενός αριθμητικού μοντέλου του παραμορφωμένου σχήματος του ανυψωτήρα (3) ως συνάρτηση ενός πλήθους τιμών επιτάχυνσης και ενός πλήθους τιμών θέσης σε προκαθορισμένα σημεία του ανυψωτήρα (3), της ανίχνευσης των τιμών επιτάχυνσης του ανυψωτήρα (3) σε ένα πλήθος σημείων ανίχνευσης (9) κατά μήκος μιας διαμήκους προέκτασης του ανυψωτήρα (3), της ανίχνευσης των τιμών πίεσης του νερού σε τουλάχιστον μερικά από τα εν λόγω σημεία ανίχνευσης (9), και του υπολογισμού των εν λόγω τιμών θέσης σε συνάρτηση με τις μετρηθείσες τιμές πίεσης του νερού.
