Uvedená zlúčenina sa používá ako medziprodukt pri syntéze látok pósobiacich špecificky na zvyšovanie obsahu cukru v cukrovej repe. (DAmico J. J., U.S. pat. 576512). 2-Hydroxybenzotiazol bol doteraz připravovaný kyslou hydrolýzou 2-benzotiazolylsulfonanu draselného za dobu 10 hodin. Výťažky sa pohybovali medzi 60—70 %. (Efros L. S., Davidenko L. R., Zurn. obšč. chim. 21, 2046 (1951); Rožková N. K„ Tsukervanik I. P., Chim. žur. 6, 51 (1961), Tashpulatov J., Dokl. Akad. Nauk USSR 20, 22 - 1963).It is an object of the invention to prepare 2-hydroxybenzothiazole from potassium 2-benzothiazolylsulfonate.
