Abstract
A material mixt., for prodn. of a complex fire protection system (esp. for fire-proofing electrical cables with synthetic insulation and other combustible materials and fittings), comprises (by wt.) at least 10 (pref. max. 30)% short mineral fibres (pref. asbestos fibres and/or chopped glass wool and/or chopped rock wool; 0.5-30 (pref. 2-14)% finely-ground (Si-contg.) kaolin; 1-40 (pref. 4-25)% finely-ground illite; 2-50 (pref. 10-35)% aq. synthetic dispersion (esp. a polyvinylidene chloride dispersion); and water in the requisite amt.. When the material is applied in two layers, it may contain a pigment. The material for thickening the layer (i.e. to produce a wall) contains pref. at least 10 wt.% flocculated mineral fibres (esp. chopped rock wool), pref. 1-4 wt.% finely-ground kaolin, 1-5 wt.% finely-ground illite and pref. 1-4 wt.% expanded perlite. Water glass and water are added on the ratio 1:1-5 to produce the correct consistency, as well as an additive to accelerate bonding of water glass (esp. sodium hexafluoro-silicate) and opt. a corresponding foaming agent.
