Abstract
Un sistema y proceso para corregir la presbiopía, cuyosistema incluye un sistema para eliminar tejido que preferiblemente incluye un sistema láser con medios para formar un contorno predeterminado de corrección de presbiopía correspondiente a un perfil de ablación predeterminado, mediante la ablación controlada de un área expuesta de la estroma corneal del ojo, de modo que una zona central de alrededor 1 a 3 mm, ó, más preferiblemente, de 1.4 a 1.8 mm, se deja intacta con una zona principal de máxima ablación de presbiopía rodeando la zona central no tocada o casi no tocada (v.g. Borde de transición redondeada). La zona anular de máxima ablación en el estroma está definida por una sección de curvatura suave y con perfil abrupto que sale desde una sección central de no ablación del perfil. Saliendo aun más de la zona máxima de ablación en el estroma, está una zona de tratamiento anular que está determinada por una sección adicional del perfil correctivo de la presbiopía, que por lo general esta representado por una sección suavisadora de la transacción que se extiende hacia otra zona que es una zona no ablacionada. El método y dispositivo para controlar la formación de la configuración de estroma corneal deseada preferiblemente incluye un módulo correctivo presbiópico, basada en una ecuación predeterminada, para determinar el perfil que utiliza ciertos insumos que preferiblemente incluyen valores determinados por las medidas del ojo y, preferiblemente, también valores extraídos de una pluralidad de rangos de diámetros de la zona y un rango de profundidad múltiple. La manera en la que esta información controladora del perfil es puesta en práctica en el proceso de ablación o de eliminación de tejido es provista preferiblemente mediante modificación de un sistema de control presente en uno o más sistemas láser preexistentes, tales como los utilizados en los procedimientos para la corrección de hiperopía y miopía. (sigue...) - 2 -Esta modificación puede incluir, por ejemplo, un software o un módulo de hardware agregado, la formación de una máscara con o sin un conjunto de movimiento de máscara, o la formación de un molde o dispositivo de moldeado adecuado para formar, por ejemplo, una máscara erosionable que pueda dar el contorno deseado al estroma corneal expuesto. El sistema y aparato de la presente invención también incluye preferiblemente, un microquerátomo o similar para formar resecciones en el ojo a fin de exponer la estroma corneal. En el presente invento se utilizan también preferiblemente un marcador posicionador un sistema de limpieza y un sistema de secado para facilitar, por ejemplo, la formación del colgajos de la cornea, posicionamiento de láser, reposicionamiento del colgajo en la superficie limpia después de la ablación y para proporcionar una superficie seca de estroma corneal al láser de ablación. Con el sistema y método de la presente invención se proporciona una manera de corregir de una manera eficiente y segura los problemas asociados con la presbiopía, a la vez que se conservan capacidades de visión de cerca y de lejos, reduciendo los indeseables síntomas postoperatorios.
