A liquid absorbent article as defined in claim 5, wherein said second zone has an average sphagnum moss particle size in the range of about 500 microns to about 150 microns. A liquid absorbent article as defined in Claim 1, in which said article is presented in the form of a sheet. A liquid absorbent article as defined in claim 7, in which said areas constitute overlapping layers of said sheet.
