Abstract
本实用新型是揭露一种用以提供支持数据至无线传送/接收单元(WTRUs)的接入点。该支持数据包含关于该接入点的邻近接入点的信息,而该支持数据是使用组播及/或广播型式发出信号而被传送,并且可促进WTRUs从一接入点至其它接入点的漫游与交递。
Description
技术领域
本实用新型是关于一无线通信系统,尤指一种关于支持数据至无线传送/接收单元(WTRUs)的传送。
背景技术
首先参阅图1,其显示一习用的无线通信系统100。该系统100包含至少一无线传送/接收单元(WTRU)102、一接入点104、及至少一用以控制并管理该系统100内的通信的系统控制器106。一般,在无线局域网络式(WLAN)系统中,网络可扩展成图2所示的结构。
在图2中,无线网络200包含一系统控制器206、多个接入点214、216、及多个WTRUs 212、218。WTRUs 212、218是分别与接入点214、216归为群组。这些群组通常被称为基本服务组(BBSs)220、222。一般,多个BSSs 220、222是经由一分散系统(DS)224进行连接,其中多个BSSs通常被称为一延伸服务组(ESS)。较佳地,接入点214、216是藉由一网络219而连接于该系统控制器206。
一般说来,支持数据是为一由关于一特定接入点的WTRUs所提供或从该特定接入点可取得的数据。一般,支持数据可包含关于邻近该特定接入点的接入点的任何信息型式的任何数据型式(亦即,接入点的个别涵盖区域是邻接于该特定接入点的涵盖区域)。假如支持数据藉由提供关于发现/辨识邻近接入点的必要信息而帮助了WTRUs的国际漫游/交递。
经由范例,支持数据可包含关于邻近接入点的信息,例如邻近WTRUs与接入点的操作频率、接入模式(例如802.11跳频展频(FHSS)/直接序列展频(DSSS)、802.11a,802.11b高速直接序列展频(HR-DSSS)等等)、时序、关于邻近基本服务组(BSSs)的系统配置信息(例如准备传送(RTS)/清理后送(CTS)、点协调功能(PCF)、有线等效保密(WEP)等等)。
目前,支持数据是使用点对点(亦即单向广播)信号发送来进行传送。在802.xx型态的系统中,例如,支持数据是以包含邻近信息的一信息组件(IE)形式来提供。IE是并入现存的探针响应帧(Probe Response frame)。一般,当WTRU企图寻找邻近BSSs时,探针响应帧是从一接入点被传送,以做为从一WTRU被传送的一探针请求管理帧的响应。这样的安排是没有效率的,然而,使用点对点信号发送来传送支持数据会导致相当大量的网络流量,因而大大地增加了严重延迟的可能性,不只是关于支持数据的传送/接收,也关于一般的传送/接收。
因此,有必要提供一不受上述缺点限制,又可提供WTRUs支持数据的方法及系统。
实用新型内容
本实用新型的目的是提供一种用以提供支持数据至无线传送/接收单元(WTRUs)的接入点,其利用组播信息及/或广播形式的信号发送,以促进WTRUs从一接入点至另一接入点间的漫游与切换,进而改善现有技术中支持数据因利用点对点信号发送方式传递所产生的大量网络流量与严重延迟的问题。
本实用新型是提供了一用以提供支持数据至无线传送/接收单元(WTRUs)的接入点。该支持数据包含关于该接入点的邻近接入点的信息。该支持数据是使用组播及/或广播形式的信号发送来进行传送,其可促进WTRUs从一接入点至另一接入点的漫游与交递。
通过本实用新型所提供的接入点,即可有效解决现有技术中因支持数据利用点对点信号发送方式传递所产生的大量网络流量与严重延迟的问题。

具体实施方式
尽管在较佳实施例的特别组合中描述了本实用新型的特征及组件,每一个特征及组件均可被单独地使用(而没有这些较佳实施例的其它特征及组件)或以各种的组合具有或不具有本实用新型的其它特征或组件。
于此,一无线传送/接收单元包含但不限于一用户设备、移动站、固定或移动订户单元、便携式传呼器或任何其它可在无线环境下操作的设备类型。当述及至此,一接入点包含但不限于一基站、节点B、点控制器、接入点或任何其它在无线环境下的接口设备类型。于此,交递这个词包含当一WTRU活动接收或传送数据时改变接入点,以及漫游这个词包含当一WTRU不活动接收或传送数据时改变接入点。本实用新型同样地应用于这两个情况以及这两个词交递及漫游于此可以相互交换使用,因而这两个词经常述及的情况是WTRU联系或其它具有一第一接入点的不同运作与一第二接入点产生联系,以及具有该第一接入点的联系最后终止。
一般而言在本实用新型中,接入点使用OAM、相互接入点信号、扫瞄、控制WTRUs进行扫瞄或上述的组合以获得支持数据,以及传送此信息作为单一的信息给一多个WTRUs.。一旦数据获得,一接入点可与其它接入点分享邻近信息允许这些接入点传送信息给WTRUs。
参考图3其为一无线通信系统300,此系统300包括至少一延伸数据组(SSE)。然而,为了描述本实用新型的目的,图3中示出两个SSEs 336及338,第一个EES 336根据本实用新型设置以及包含一系统控制器302、多个接入点304、306、308以及多个WTRUs 310、312、314。当然此第一EES可以设置具有一单一接入点,较适当的其可以是一BSS。此第一ESS 336含盖的所有区域以粗线画出以及包含含盖区域324、326、328。此第二ESS 338亦包含一系统控制器316,多个接入点318、320、322以及多个WTRUs(未示出)。此第二ESS 338含盖的所有区域包含含盖区域330、332、334。
在本实用新型中,第一EES 336的接入点304,306,308每一个都包含处理器340、342、344用以获得支持数据以及提供给个别的WTRUs。此支持数据增进WTRUs的交递与漫游。值得注意的是仅第一EES 336本实用新型图示出,存粹是为了简化本实用新型的描述。当然,任何数量的接入点均可以根据本实用新型加以设置,而不管其与一ESS或BSS的关连。
支持数据(即邻近列与邻近信息)较佳的可由操作及维护(OAM)、接入点间专有的信号(即相互接入点信号)、主动/被动信道扫瞄等获得,而不是由扫瞄接入点及/或从WTRUs的测量评估所用户。本用以获得邻近信息的方法可随着收寻信息的邻近接入点改变。
举例来说,在图3中,当接入点304在寻找关于接入点306及308于接入点304的同一ESS 336的中的数据时,较佳者为使用接入点内部信号及/或OAM。较佳者为OAM是由于,例如,接入点304、306、308分享一共同系统控制器302,进而使关于接入点306、308的邻近数据透过位于该控制器302的OAM被提供给接入点304。较佳者为接入点内部信号是由于,例如,当接入点304、306、308间的直接连结为简单化而显示出来,如图2所示的一分布网络典型地提供于该组成ESS 306的接入点304、306、308之间。该分布网络提供直接的布线连结,则接入点内部信号可于其上有效地进行。使用接入点内部信号时,接入点内部协议(Inter-AccessPoint Protocol;IAPP)便能使用。
如上所述,其它选择也可使用,以使该接入点304由邻近接入点306、308获得邻近信息。举例来说,接入点304可命令无线传送/接收单元310扫瞄除了该接入点304正在使用的所有信道,以获得任一检测信道的邻近信息,并回报该信息。该接入点304也可自行扫瞄其它信道。该接入点304正在扫瞄的处,此扫瞄可以被单独完成,或者与任何其它由该无线传送/接收单元310所完成的扫瞄一起完成。此实施例中,一质量度量,如接收功率,是被用以选择介于由该接入点304所获得以及由该无线传送/接收单元310所获得的测量值之间的相同信道。
该接入点304获得关于一邻近接入点318信息之处,是发生于接入点304的ESS 336之外,较佳者为透过扫瞄以获得该数据。如上所讨论,该接入点304可自行进行扫瞄(主动或被动),或是命令该无线传送/接收单元310进行扫瞄(主动或被动)并回报。当然,该接入点304并不受限于仅使用扫瞄以获得关于接入点318的邻近信息。该接入点304也可使用OAM及接入点内部信号以获得关于接入点318的邻近信息。
接入点304的处理器340较佳者为,如上所述被配置以获得邻近信息。当然,如果需要,可使用一个以上的处理器。若必要,由该处理器340所获得的信息则储存于内存350。此外,接入点304的处理器340也被配置以提供邻近信息,是如下所述。
需注意的是,上述所描述的各种方法也可以适当的方式组合使用。举例来说,当一接入点304开始联机而没有透过OAM定义的邻近信息,其能够自行扫瞄周遭且/或命令其部分的无线传送/接收单元310也进行扫瞄。一旦该接入点304有了此次扫瞄结果,其便可以使用此信息,在其ESS 336的内去告知其它接入点306、308关于此发现。这将会最小化由这些接入点306、308所进行的扫瞄量(其可能在流量上造成某些小型的分布)。对该接入点304从ESS 324外的一接入点318找寻邻近信息之处来说,此排列是特别有帮助,因为该接入点304的OAM信息可能并不包括ESS 327之外的接入点318、320、322。在此实施例要注意的是,在建立及邻近信息的发现后,该接入点304应该周期性地扫瞄(或是要求其无线传送/接收单元之一进行扫瞄),以察看其邻近信息的状态是否改变。
由该接入点304所获得的邻近信息最佳者为周期性地广播,或是组播至一是于该接入点304的涵盖范围336内操作的无线传送/接收单元310。现在参见图4,以使用无线局域网络为例,于一特定BSS中操作的接入点及无线传送/接收单元均使用一单一信道(或频率)来传送并接收。如图4所示,该接入点周期性地传送一信标402到各自的信道。其周期间的信标是典型地以每100ms一次进行传送。虽然可能,一接入点通常不一定要传送其获得的邻近信息至其位于每一信标的无线传送接收单元。因此,在较佳实施例中,接入点是配置以传送他们邻近信息,其是于一预设时间周期的倍数,该预设时间周期是介于接入点传送其信标402之间。该倍数可依所需设定且较佳地是为一与其各别接入点紧密联系的WTRUs的流动程度的涵式。
举例来说,在图4中,显示邻近信息406是藉由于一信标间隙的特定倍数的接入点传送,传送该邻近信息406的该特定接入点与其紧密联系的WTRUs共享该信道,因此,在邻近信息被传送的该信标间隙,一旦该接入点完成其信标402的传送,其等待一特定量的时间直到其能再一次获得存取该信道,此时间量典型地是参照一争用阶段404,因为该接入点是争用其各自的WTRUs以存取该信道,一旦该接入点获得存取该信道,其传送该邻近信息406,其中关于邻近接入点的信息是被提供给与该接入点紧密联系的WTRUs,如同上文所述。
邻近信息406可当作一多重播送信息传送至一预设的WTRUs群组,该WTRU是与该接入点紧密联系,该接入点是传送该邻近信息406。在另一实施例中,该邻近信息406可广播给所有与该传送接入点紧密联系的WTRUs,值得注意的是,该WTRUs,其是类似于该接入点的功能提供他们邻近信息406,亦可使用点对点探针需求及/或信道扫瞄,该WTRUs可执行此类技术当作备用及/或补充以由该接入点接收此类信息。
该邻近信息406较佳地是藉由一管理型式帧传送(亦即在一时间期间,其中系统管理信息是被传送),当WTRUs使用点对点信号传送获得邻近信息时,于实施例中使用的该管理型式帧,较佳地是与习知技术所使用的相同。此外,在其接收邻近信息406之后,于一WTRU执行的该相连程序是与一点对点信息相同,只有该WTRUs的认可除外。
现在参照图5,所示为本实用新型另一实施例。在本实施例中,典型的信标信号是配置一额外位,其中该额外位指示该邻近信息的存在/不存在,于一固定的信标帧传送的该信标502与空的传送信号位506示于图中,该信标502是当作标准于一固定信标帧藉由一接入点传送,其是根据一预设排程。邻近信息被送出的周期性是为一预设时间周期的倍数,该时间周期是介于被传送的信标502之间,如同上述所讨论,当该邻近信息要藉由一接入点传送至其各别WTRUs的时间到了,该邻近信息508是被增加至该信标502与其一起在一延伸信标帧504中传送。在此方案中,该信标502的该传送信号位506是完整一致以反映该位被设定的事实,以致于其指示邻近信息508是存在于该延伸信标帧504之内,在一较佳实施例中,该邻近信息508是被增加至该信标502作为一信息设备(IE),如同上文所讨论,该邻近信息508包含支持WTRUs的信息,其是以由一接入点至一邻近接入点有效率地换手。
值得注意的是,本实用新型可于任何型式的无线通信系统中执行,举例来说,本实用新型可于无线局域网络(WLAN)、无线个人局域网络(WPAN)、无线都会局域网络(WMAN)或任何型式的无线通信系统网络中执行。此外,尽管本实用新型的特征和组件已经于较佳实施例中以特定组合描述,每一特征或组件还是能单独或是伴随或不伴随着本实用新型的其它特征和组件以不同组合使用。
Claims (1)
1.一种提供支持数据至无线传送/接收单元的接入点,该接入点包含:
一接收器,配置成接收支持数据;
一处理器,连接至所述接收器,所述处理器用于处理从至少一个邻近接入点所接收的支持数据,所述邻近接入点各自的涵盖区域是邻近于所述接入点的涵盖区域;所述支持数据包含一信息,所述信息用于促进一无线传送/接收单元从所述接入点之所述邻近接入点的交递,其中所述支持数据已从所述邻近接入点取得;
一发送器,连接至所述处理器,并配置成传送做为一单一信息的所述支持数据至在所述接入点涵盖区域内操作的至少一个无线传送/接收单元。
