Abstract

技术背景
本实用新型具有当一移动站被附加至一无线局域网络(WLAN)系统时,传递以通用移动通信系统(UMTS)为基础的服务的目的。
本实用新型并未发现任何能够支持该类活动的现有技术。
实用新型内容
本实用新型被用于无线通信系统中的无线局域网络,该无线通信系统特征在于包括一UMTS接收器,其用作UMTS信号的中继器(repeater),以及一格式转换单元用于UMTS格式与WLAN格式之间的转换。本实用新型于具有UMTS及WLAN系统的网络内使用。该系统符合具有在UMTS及WLAN环境中选择性运作的双模式能力的独立(stand-alone)移动站。在WLAN环境中操作的移动站以WLAN系统登录并提供其追踪UMTS流量用的UMTS标识。
WLAN传递该移动站标识(ID)至该UMTS接收器单元,其为任何包含该移动站(UE)的活动而被调整。UMTS接收器传输任何对服务该登录移动站的相关WLAN系统中已登录移动站发布的流量(traffic),例如寻呼信息(paging),短信服务(short message service;SMS),多媒体信息服务(multimedia message service;MMS)等等。流量被传输至一个单元,其转换所接收流量的信息格式(flow,流)为随后被传输至WLAN系统的WLAN格式。该WLAN系统随后传输该流量至服务该移动站的对应存取点(access point,AP)。
UMTS接收器经由相关的服务该(那些)移动站的WLAN系统传输任何流量(例如,寻呼信息,短信服务(SMS),多媒体信息服务(MMS)之类)至已登录的移动站。此信息经由收敛层34被传输到服务该移动站的存取点(AP),见图1。

图1表示具有底部(underlayed)WLAN系统14的UMTS系统12的布置。图1的布置将结合传递基于UMTS服务的技术而被描述,当一移动站由WLAN系统所服务时。
参照图2,且其中配合图1,表示类似图1的设置。
为简化,只显示一个双模式移动站24,可以了解的是,多个此种双模式中端也可由WLAN 14所服务。
当处于WLAN环境14的范围内并且在WLAN模式24a中运作时,用户终端24以WLAN 20登录于步骤S1。在步骤S2,WLAN 20随后与UMTS中继器18登录UMTS服务监控用的终端24的用户标识(ID),该用户ID被传输至UMTS中继器18。UMTS接收器26为发布给登录ID的任何服务而被调整。当一UMTS服务,例如,寻呼信息,短信服务(SMS),多媒体信息服务(MMS)之类,将被传递,UMTS16,在步骤S3,传输此一服务,在所给的例子中,一寻呼信息,至UMTS中继器18。包括一发射塔28(见图1)的中继器18经由一射频频道30传输该寻呼信息至WLAN 20,在步骤S4。此WLAN格式转换器22转换寻呼信息的UMTS格式至一WLAN信息格式,在步骤S5,已经接收在UMTS传输塔28上经由无线频道30及WLAN接收器天线32传输的寻呼信息。

以上的程序适用于短信服务(SMS),多媒体信息服务(MMS),广播以及单向多点发送(multicast)服务。

Claims (5)

1.一种无线局域网络(WLAN),用以传输信息至该无线区域网络(WLAN)内操作的一移动站(UE),其特征在于其包括:
一装置,用以接收该UE的用户标识(ID);
一装置,用以将UE ID登录于一提供信息的源;
一装置,用以接收来自该源的一UE ID伴随的信息;
一格式转换器,用以转换该信息为一WLAN信息格式;以及
一装置,用以传输该重新格式化信息至该UE。
2.如权利要求1的WLAN,其特征在于该传输装置传输信息,其包括传输寻呼信息,短信服务(SMS),多媒体信息服务(MMS)之一。
3.如权利要求1的WLAN,还包括:
至少一存取点(AP);
该格式转换器传递该重新格式化的信息至传输至所述的至少一个AP以便传输至UE。
4.如权利要求1的WLAN,其特征在于该格式转换器还包括:一装置可于从所述来源接收信息的模式中操作。
5.如权利要求1的WLAN,其特征该传输用的装置传递WLAM信息格式中的信息。
