Abstract

本实用新型公开了一种电连接器(1),其包括具有安装面(202)的绝缘本体(2)、延伸至绝缘本体安装面的若干槽道(22)及收容于这些槽道内的若干端子(3、3′)。每一槽道内均收容有一对端子。该对端子均包括与对接连接器(5)相接合的接触部(32)及彼此相对延伸进而形成一开口(36)的弧形尾部(34、34′)。每对端子所形成的开口内设置有一焊球(4),该焊球预植于每对端子的尾部以焊接于电连接器所安装的电路基板上。

【技术领域】
本实用新型涉及一种电连接器,尤其是指一种通过焊球与电路基板相连接的电连接器。
【背景技术】
为适应电路板所安装的电子装置尺寸减小的需要,不仅需要增大电路板上电连接器的密度以减小电路板的占用空间,还需将安装于电路板上的具有众多端子的电连接器的占用空间降至最小。
众所周知,表面焊接技术已广泛应用于连接电连接器的端子及电连接器所在的电路板。电路板上导电片的间距可以设置得很小,以允许相同面积的电路板上可焊接较多数目的端子。目前,电连接器已发展至其端子尾部预植焊球,如BGA(Ball Grid Array)连接器,以保证电连接器与电路板可靠电性连接。
美国专利第5,997,317号揭示了一种BGA连接器,其包括绝缘本体、位于绝缘本体安装面及接合面间的若干槽道及收容于绝缘本体槽道内的若干端子。每一端子均包括接合部及垂直于接合部的碟形焊接部。端子组装入绝缘本体后,于碟形焊接部的底部预植一焊球。然后将焊球与电路板的导电片相焊接,从而将电连接器安装在电路板上。然而这种电连接器的端子形状复杂且不易制造,从而导致制造成本增加。
美国专利第6,139,336号揭示了另外一种BGA连接器,其包括具有若干槽道的绝缘本体、收容在槽道内的若干端子及位于端子尾端的焊球。每一槽道包括一延伸至安装面的开口,每一端子的尾端位于开口内,以便将焊球预植在端子尾端。
与美国专利第6,139,336号于绝缘本体安装面设置开口以保证焊球定位相似的其它BGA连接器,可进一步参照美国专利第6,024,584号、第6,079,991号、第6,093,035号、第6,164,983号、第6,325,644号及第6,042,389号。
由于需在绝缘本体安装面上设置开口,导致绝缘本体的结构复杂,使得绝缘本体的制造难度增加。
因此,需要设计一种新型的电连接器以克服上述缺点。
【发明内容】
本实用新型的目的在于提供一种便于预植可熔元件的电连接器,这些可熔元件用于焊接至电连接器所安装的电路板上。
为实现上述目的,本实用新型采用如下技术方案:电连接器包括绝缘本体、若干端子及若干可熔元件,绝缘本体具有安装面及延伸至安装面的若干槽道,若干端子收容于绝缘本体的槽道内,每一槽道内收容有一对端子;该对端子包括与对接连接器相接合的接合部及彼此相对延伸而形成一开口的弧形尾部,若干可熔元件位于每对端子形成的开口内,这些可熔元件预植于每对端子的弧形尾部上。
相较于现有技术,本实用新型电连接器的端子尾端形成一开口,以此收容可熔元件,其端子及绝缘本体的结构简单,不但可保证可熔元件相对于端子正确定位,且制造简单,能够显著降低生产成本。

图1是本实用新型电连接器与对接连接器相接合时的部分剖视图,其中电连接器及对接连接器分别与第一电路基板及第二电路基板相连接。
图2是从与图1相垂直的角度看,本实用新型电连接器与对接连接器相接合时的部分剖视图。
图3是本实用新型电连接器的端子尾部的另一实施例的放大立体图。
【具体实施方式】
请参阅图1及图2所示,本实用新型的电连接器1包括具有一沿纵长延伸的收容槽20的绝缘本体2及位于收容槽20两侧的两排槽道22。其中收容槽20位于绝缘本体2的接合面200上并沿纵长方向设置,两排槽道22延伸至绝缘本体2的安装面202。
若干端子3收容于绝缘本体2的槽道22内。每一端子3均包括干涉固持于槽道22内的本体部30、自本体部30上部向上延伸的接合部32及自本体部30下部同时向下方及两侧延伸的弧形尾部34。其中,接合部32具有延伸入收容槽20并与对接连接器5电性连接的接合端320,弧形尾部34具有可预植有可熔元件4的曲面340。
请参阅图1所示,绝缘本体2的每一槽道22内均收容有一对并列排布的端子3,该对端子3可以焊接在一起也可以不焊接。在本实用新型的第一实施例中,在该对端子3的底部靠近弧形尾部34处设有一涂层310。涂层310经过加热棒加热熔化后可将该对端子3连接在一起,从而使得两个端子3之间不具有裂缝。从而防止可熔元件4预植到端子3的弧形尾部34上时及焊接到第一电路基板8上时发生焊锡爬升现象。涂层310由93%的锡及7%的铅组成,其熔点约为350-450℃,涂层的熔点高于可熔元件4的熔点而低于端子3的熔点。
每对端子3的弧形尾部34向下延伸出绝缘本体2的安装面202。该对端子3的弧形尾部34向相反方向延伸而形成一开口36,其中两端子3的弧形尾部34间的夹角α为一钝角。开口36可保证可熔元件4相对于弧形尾部34正确定位,以将可熔元件4预植在弧形尾部34上。
在本实用新型的第一实施例中,所述可熔元件4为焊球。焊球4位于开口36内并预植于每对端子3的弧形尾部34上。焊球4可在端子3与绝缘本体2组装前预植于端子3的弧形尾部34,也可在端子3与绝缘本体2组装后再预植于端子3的弧形尾部34。然后再将焊球4焊接于第一电路基板8上,从而将电连接器1组装到第一电路板8上。
由于本实用新型电连接器1的端子3及绝缘本体2的构形简单,可显著降低制造成本。
图3是本实用新型第二实施例的示意图。每对端子3′的尾端34′与第一实施例相似,其不同之处在于每一端子3′的尾部34′上具有一“V”形凹口346′。尾部34′被凹口346′分为第一部分342′及第二部分344′,从而可于F方向固持焊球4。该凹口346′在尾部34′成型之前在金属料带上冲压而成。
对接连接器5的构造与普通的板至板插头连接器相同,其包括具有收容腔60的本体6及收容于本体6内两排对接端子7。其中一狭长舌板62延伸入本体6的收容腔60内。每一对接端子7包括位于舌板62两侧的接触部70及垂直于接触部70的尾端72。尾端72向上延伸出本体6的安装面602,每一尾端72上预植有焊球50。这些焊球50与第二电路基板9相焊接以将对接连接器5组装到该第二电路基板9上。
当电连接器1插入对接连接器5的收容腔60时,端子3的接合端320与对接端子7的接触部70相接触,从而在第一电路基板8与第二电路基板9之间建立电性连接。

Claims (9)

1.一种电连接器,可焊接于电路基板上,其包括绝缘本体、若干端子及若干可熔元件,绝缘本体具有安装面及延伸至安装面的若干槽道,若干端子收容于绝缘本体的槽道内,每一槽道内收容有一对端子;其特征在于:该对端子包括与对接连接器相接合的接合部及彼此相对延伸而形成一开口的弧形尾部,若干可熔元件位于每对端子形成的开口内,这些可熔元件预植于每对端子的弧形尾部上。
2.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每一端子的弧形尾部末端具有一“V”形凹口。
3.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:位于同一槽道内的一对端子并列排布。
4.如权利要求3所述的电连接器,其特征在于:在每对端子的底部靠近其弧形尾部位置处设有一涂层。
5.如权利要求4所述的电连接器,其特征在于:涂层包括93%的锡及7%的铅。
6.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:端子的尾部垂直于端子的接合部。
7.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每对端子的两个尾部之间的夹角为一钝角。
8.如权利要求7所述的电连接器,其特征在于:每对端子的尾部延伸出绝缘本体的安装面。
9.如权利要求1所述的电连接器,其特征在于:所述可熔元件为焊球。
