The anterior chamber system further comprises an anterior chamber. The anterior chamber includes an anterior chamber volume and an anterior chamber wall. The anterior chamber wall defines an anterior chamber volume. The front cavity wall comprises a front cavity cover 3. The front cavity cover extends at least partially into the combustion chamber. The front cavity cover has an opening so that fluid can flow from the front cavity into the combustion chamber. The opening is disposed in the front cavity cover. The front cavity system comprises a delivery device for delivering fuel in the front cavity. The front cavity system includes a spark plug for igniting the fuel in the front cavity. The spark plug is disposed opposite the combustion chamber. The front cavity system comprises ignition means for heating and/or igniting the fluid in the front cavity and/or the combustion chamber.
The opening of the front chamber cover allows a flow of fluid into the combustion chamber, and the ignition of the fuel in the front chamber by the spark plug allows an operation of the internal combustion engine with an extremely lean fuel-air mixture. Furthermore, the ignition device can achieve safe ignition of the fuel-air mixture.
By arranging the spark plug opposite the combustion chamber, a small front chamber with a compression volume of at most 4% of the combustion chamber can be achieved.
Preferably, the ignition device is designed as a glow plug. Furthermore, the front chamber wall preferably has an opening through which the ignition device protrudes into the front chamber.
This allows for heating the fuel-air mixture in the front chamber, so that ignition of the fuel-air mixture can be safely achieved for a wide range of mixtures and even at cold start.
The following description describes advantageous embodiments of the utility model.

Detailed Description
Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of a front chamber system 1 according to the utility model for an internal combustion engine with at least one cylinder. The front chamber system 1 comprises a cylinder head 2 for a combustion chamber 10 of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine, which combustion chamber is closed by a piston 13. The anterior chamber system further comprises an anterior chamber. The anterior chamber comprises an anterior chamber volume 7 and anterior chamber walls. The anterior chamber wall delimits an anterior chamber volume 7. The front cavity wall comprises a front cavity cover 3. The front cover 3 extends at least partially into the combustion chamber 10. The front chamber cover 3 has an opening 12 so that fluid can flow from the front chamber into the combustion chamber 10. An opening 12 is provided in the front cavity cover 3. The front chamber system 1 comprises a delivery device 8 for delivering fuel in the front chamber. The conveying means is arranged at a side of the front cavity wall adjoining the front cavity cover. The front chamber system 1 comprises a spark plug 6 for igniting the fuel in the front chamber. The spark plug 6 is provided opposite to the piston 13. The front chamber system 1 comprises an ignition device 9 for heating the fluid in the front chamber.
The delivery device 8 is configured as a fuel injector. In the embodiment described, the front chamber wall has an opening 5 through which the delivery device 8 is connected to the volume in the front chamber. This may enable direct injection of fuel into the front cavity. This makes it possible to accurately set the fuel-air ratio in the front chamber, whereby it is possible to achieve high efficiency for operating the front chamber system 1.
To create a fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber, one or more delivery devices for delivering fuel into the combustion chamber and/or into the intake passage are also used.
The front chamber wall has an opening 4 through which an ignition device 9 protrudes into the front chamber. In the illustrated embodiment, the opening 4 is opposite the opening 5. This may enable a reduction in the installation space for the front chamber system 1.
In the illustrated embodiment, a portion of the housing 14 of the spark plug 6 forms a front cavity wall. The housing of the spark plug 6 has a receptacle for a sealing ring 11. This allows an efficient use of the installation space of the front chamber system 1. The front chamber cover 3 is disposed immediately adjacent to the housing of the spark plug 6. The shell of the spark plug 6 and the front chamber cover 3 together form a front chamber wall. Openings 4 and 5 are provided in the housing of spark plug 6. The front chamber wall is formed in two parts, the two parts being joined to one another in a fluid-tight manner. This makes it possible to achieve a very small front chamber volume 7 compared to the volume of the combustion chamber 10. In the illustrated embodiment, the prechamber volume 7 is less than 4% of the volume of the combustion chamber 10. This may enable avoiding an undesired overflow of fluid from the combustion chamber 10 into the front cavity.
The ignition device 9 is configured as a glow plug. This can achieve heating of the fuel-air mixture in the front chamber, whereby ignition of the fuel-air mixture takes place safely even at cold start.
The opening 12 of the front chamber cover 3 has an axis of symmetry. The symmetry axes converge in a common point. In the illustrated embodiment, the front cavity cover has three openings. This may enable an advantageous flow of fluid from the front cavity into the combustion chamber 10.
The shape of the front cavity cover 3 substantially corresponds to a spherical section. This may achieve a good mixing of fuel and air in the front chamber. Alternatively, the front cavity cover substantially corresponds in shape to a cone or truncated cone. The partial region of the front cover 3 can be flattened in each case also on at least one spatial axis.
In an alternative embodiment, there is no opening 4 in the anterior chamber wall. For this purpose, the cylinder head 2 has an opening through which the ignition device 9 protrudes into the combustion chamber 10. Said opening being arranged between the two valves of the cylinder head 2. In another alternative embodiment, the opening is provided between the valve and the edge of the combustion chamber 10. The edge of the combustion chamber 10 corresponds here on one axis to the edge of the cylinder.
The ignition device 9 is configured as a spark plug. The front chamber system 1 thus has two spark plugs, which can achieve a safe ignition of the fuel-air mixture in the front chamber and the combustion chamber 10.
The delivery device 8 is designed and designed for delivering the fuel-air mixture to the front space. This allows for the introduction of a precise fuel-air mixture into the front chamber, wherein additionally good mixing of fuel and air is achieved.
In the alternative embodiment, the front cavity cover 3 has three openings. The opening 12 of the front chamber cover 3 has an axis of symmetry. In the described embodiment, the symmetry axes do not intersect. The openings each have an offset with a varying orientation on at least one spatial axis. This allows good flow of the unburned and ignited fuel-air mixture from the front cavity into the combustion chamber 10.
Alternatively, the front cavity cover 3 has six or more openings. The symmetry axes of the openings 12 do not converge in a common point.
All of the different features of the described embodiments can be implemented in any combination herein.
