Detailed Description
The following detailed description refers to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification. The exemplary embodiments mentioned in the description and the drawings are only for illustrative purposes and are not intended to limit the scope of the present application. Those skilled in the art, having benefit of this disclosure, will appreciate that many other embodiments can be devised which do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present application. It should be understood that the aspects of the present application, as described and illustrated herein, may be arranged, substituted, combined, separated, and designed in a wide variety of different configurations, all of which are within the scope of the present application.
In order to solve the problems of the conventional tongue pricks, the inventors of the present application developed a new tongue prick and a tongue prick appliance provided with the same.
Referring to fig. 1, a tongue correction appliance 100 in one embodiment of the present application is schematically illustrated.
The tongue spur appliance 100 is an appliance worn on mandibular teeth, and includes a shell-shaped main body 101 and tongue spurs 103, the shell-shaped main body 101 is in an integral shell shape and forms a cavity for accommodating teeth, and the tongue spurs 103 are provided on the lingual side of the shell-shaped main body 101 corresponding to each of the 2-2 # teeth (i.e., 4 anterior teeth).
In one embodiment, the geometry of the tooth-receiving cavity of shell-like body 101 may substantially match the current layout of the patient's teeth. In yet another embodiment, the lingual appliance 100 can also function as an orthodontic appliance, with the geometry of the cavity of the shell 101 that receives the teeth substantially matching the target arrangement of the teeth of the patient for the corresponding orthodontic procedure.
It will be appreciated that, in the context of the present application, shell-like body 101 may house the entire dentition, or may cover only a portion of the dentition (e.g., only the teeth where the tongue is desired to be positioned).
Referring to FIG. 2, the tongue 103 of the tongue orthosis 100 of FIG. 1 is schematically illustrated.
In this embodiment, the tongue 103 is fixedly attached to the shell-like body 101 by means of gluing. It will be appreciated that, in addition to the fixation, the tongue 103 may be fixed by clamping, and the structure of the abutting portion between the tongue 103 and the shell-shaped body 101 may be slightly changed.
The tongue 103 has a base 1031, which is substantially disc-shaped, and the tongue 103 is fixedly mounted to the shell-shaped body 101 via the base 1031. It will be appreciated that the base 1031 may have other shapes than a circular disk, such as oval, rectangular, triangular, etc., as will be appreciated in light of the present application.
A first side of the base 1031 forms an adhesive surface for adhering to the shell-like main body 101, and a second side opposite to the first side forms a boss 1033. Wherein, two first spikes 1035 are formed at two sides of the top of the boss 1033 respectively in a protruding manner, so that the patient can avoid putting the tongue at the first spikes 1035.
The first side of the protrusion 1033 is protruded to form three second spikes 1037. in one embodiment, when the tongue 103 is mounted on the shell-shaped main body 101, the first spikes 1035 face the tongue side direction, and the second spikes 1037 face downward, the patient can avoid putting the tongue under the first spikes 1035.
The second side of the boss 1033 is protruded to form three third spines 1039. in one embodiment, when the tongue spine 103 is mounted on the shell-like main body 101, the third spines 1039 are upward, so that the patient can avoid putting the tongue close to the first spines 1035 above them. Usually, the correct tongue position is the tongue tip against the vicinity of the maxillary gum line, and therefore, the position above which the tongue tip abuts against the first spur 1035 is also an incorrect tongue position.
It will be appreciated in light of the present disclosure that the third prong 1039 need not be provided if it is desired to avoid the tongue tip being positioned just in front of and below the first prong 1031.

Although the first, second and third spikes in the above embodiments are triangular in geometry, they may be any other shape capable of stimulating the tongue, such as a pointed cone.
In one embodiment, the tongue spur appliance can be obtained by pressing a film on the tooth model by a hot-pressing film forming process to form a shell-shaped main body, and then installing the tongue spur on the shell-shaped main body. In yet another embodiment, the tongue correction device can be integrally manufactured by using 3D printing technology.
It will be appreciated that the location and number of tongue spines is not limited to the embodiment shown in fig. 1, and may be configured as desired for a particular situation, given the benefit of this disclosure.
It will be appreciated in the light of the present application that the shell-like body of the device may be of other shapes than the shell-like body of figure 1 which conforms to the patient's teeth, for example, the cavity in which the teeth are received may be a smooth through slot.

Claims (16)

1. A tongue prick for correcting the placement of a patient's tongue, comprising:
the first spine protrudes towards the tongue side; and
the second spine protrudes towards the lower part of the first spine.
2. The tongue of claim 1, further comprising a base, wherein the first and second prongs are integrally formed with the base, and wherein the tongue is mounted to a shell-like dental device worn on a mandibular tooth via the base.
3. The tongue as claimed in claim 2, wherein said tongue adhesively secures said base to said shell-like dental instrument.
4. The tongue barb of claim 1, wherein said second barb is formed to protrude from the underside of said first barb.
5. The tongue barb of claim 1, further comprising a third barb projecting above said first barb.
6. The tongue barb of claim 5, wherein said third barb is formed projecting from the upper side of said first barb.
7. The tongue barb of claim 5, comprising a plurality of said first spikes, said second spikes, and said third spikes.
8. A tongue correction appliance for wearing on the teeth of the mandible of a patient to correct the placement of the tongue of the patient, comprising:
a shell-shaped body forming a cavity for accommodating teeth; and
a tongue burr provided on a tongue side of the shell-shaped main body anterior tooth region, the tongue burr including: the first spine protrudes towards the tongue side; and the second sharp thorn protrudes towards the lower part of the first sharp thorn.
9. The tongue orthosis of claim 8, wherein the tongue further comprises a base, the first spike and the second spike are integral with the base, and the tongue is fixed to the shell-shaped body by the base.
10. The tongue orthosis of claim 9, wherein the tongue is adhesively secured to the shell-like dental implement.
11. The tongue correction device of claim 8, wherein the second spur is formed protruding from the underside of the first spur.
12. The tongue correction device of claim 8, wherein the lingual side further comprises a third spike protruding upward from the first spike.
13. The tongue correction device of claim 12, wherein the third spike is formed to protrude from the upper side of the first spike.
14. The tongue orthosis of claim 13, wherein the tongue comprises a plurality of the first spike, the second spike, and the third spike.
15. The tongue correction device of claim 8, comprising a plurality of said tongues.
16. The tongue correction of claim 8, wherein the geometry of the cavity matches the patient's teeth.
