A spring core comprising a plurality of springs arranged in a plurality of rows and columns, each row of springs extending in a longitudinal direction, each column of springs extending in a transverse direction, a first end face of the plurality of springs constituting a first major surface of the spring core, a second end face of the plurality of springs constituting a second major surface of the spring core, at least one of the first major surface and the second major surface being coated with a facing.
2. The spring core of claim 1 wherein each row of springs is a string of pocketed springs, a plurality of said strings being arranged in a transverse direction.
3. The spring core of claim 1 wherein the scrim covers only a portion of the at least one major surface.
4. The spring core of claim 1 wherein the at least one major surface is divided into a first area and a second area, the second area surrounding the first area, the scrim covering only the second area.
5. The spring core of claim 4 wherein the second region is located at an outer periphery of the at least one major surface.
6. The spring core according to claim 3, wherein the at least one main surface is divided into a plurality of first regions and a plurality of second regions, respectively, the first regions and the second regions being alternately arranged in the longitudinal direction, and the cover cloth covers only the second regions.
7. The spring core of claim 1 wherein the facing is a non-woven fabric or a cotton felt.
8. A spring core according to any of claims 1 to 7 wherein the scrim is adhered to the at least one major surface.
9. The spring core of claim 1 wherein said veil overlies only a portion of said first major surface.
10. The spring core according to claim 9, wherein the first main surface is divided into a plurality of first regions and a plurality of second regions, the first regions and the second regions being alternately arranged in the longitudinal direction, the cloth covering only the second regions.
