工艺被一般由胎料和外表的纺织物两部分组成，胎料又有絮胎和散纤维之分。散纤状的工艺被胎芯结构和形状不固定，易流动缩团，厚度不均匀。为了使工艺被外层纺织物与内芯之间贴紧固定，使工艺被厚薄均匀，将外层纺织物与内芯以并排直线或装饰图案式地缝合（包括缝编）起来，这种增加美感与实用性的工序，称为绗缝。
