A toilet apparatus designed for use by obese persons, the toilet comprising a base portion having a width of about 21.5 inches and a length of about 29.05 inches, a bowl portion attached to the base portion wherein the width of the outer portion of the bowl is about 25 inches, the length of the outer portion of the bowl is about 32 inches, and wherein the outer portion of the bowl is substantially aligned with a bottom of the base portion, and a toilet seat comprising an inner and an outer rim and further comprising two vertically extending rigid members located between the outer and inner rims of the left side and the right side of the toilet seat, wherein the vertically extending rigid members are positioned for alignment with an interior edge of a toilet bowl as to prevent lateral displacement of the seat when in use.
