Description
本发明涉及一种只读型域扩展存储介质和一种用于处理这种介质的基底的处理方案,在这种介质中磁壁被移位由此扩大磁畴以便再现由磁畴表示的信息。
在磁光存储系统中,通过衍射极限,也就是通过聚焦透镜的数值孔径(NA)和激光波长来确定记录标记的最小宽度。通常可基于较短的激光波长和较高的NA聚焦光学系统来减小所述宽度。写非常小的磁区的能力对于增加磁光(MO)介质的面存储密度是重要的。域扩展介质典型的包括聚碳酸酯基底、反射热传导层、第一电介质层、硬磁例如TbFeCo存储层,其通过第二电介质层或者直接通过借助中间磁性层进行的交换耦合与软磁例如GdFeCo读出层磁性耦接、第三电介质层和/或丙烯酸树脂覆盖层。数据存储是通过使用热磁写技术实现的,由此具有约20nm厚度的薄存储层通过会聚的激光或其他辐射点而被加热至居里温度,然后在存在磁场的情况下使其冷却下来。于是加热的区域被“冻结”,其具有平行于磁场的磁性取向。不幸地,写过程是热处理过程,其不被限制于激光的光斑大小,而是限制于加热区域的大小。当前,写小磁区的能力远远超过了对其进行读取的能力。写过程是通过例如以光强度调制(LIM)调整激光功率、例如以磁场调制(MFM)调整外磁场或例如以激光抽送(pumped)MFM(LP-MFM)对激光功率和外磁场进行调整来实现的。数据检索是通过域扩展实现的,由此在存储层中写入的磁区被拷贝至读出层,磁区在其中进行扩展以填充光读出斑点。
MAMMOS(磁放大磁光系统)是基于磁静态耦合存储和读出层的域扩展方法,其中磁场调制被用于扩展域在读出层中的扩展和衰减。当在外磁场的帮助下进行激光加热时,具有高矫顽力的存储层中的写入标记被拷贝至具有低矫顽力的读出层。由于所述读出层的低矫顽力,拷贝的标记将扩展以填充光斑并能够用饱和信号电平检测到,所述饱和信号电平不依赖于标记的大小。外磁场反向将使扩展域衰减。另一方面,存储层中的空隙将不被拷贝,并且不会出现扩展。因此,在该情况下将不会检测到信号。
畴壁偏移检测(DWDD)是基于交换耦合存储和读出层的另一种DomEx方法,该方法由T.Shiratori等人披露于Proc.MORIS’97,J.Magn.Soc.Jpn(1998,卷22)的附录No.S2第47-50页中。在DWDD介质中,作为交换耦合力的结果,记录在存储层中的标记通过中间交换层被转移给偏移层。当再现激光斑点被辐射到盘记录轨迹上时,温度上升。当交换层超过了居里温度时,磁化丢失,从而使每层之间的交换耦合力消失。交换耦合力是在偏移层中保持转移标记的力之一。当交换耦合力消失时,围绕记录标记的畴壁转移至具有低畴壁能量的高温部分,从而允许小记录标记扩展。已经转移到偏移层中的畴壁发生偏移就好像是被橡胶圈拉着一样。这允许通过激光束进行读取,即使已经以高密度进行了记录。
域扩展技术例如MAMMOS和DWDD由此允许读出比光斑尺寸小得多的数据位,但是具有比MSR大得多的信号。各种盘叠层总是包括记录层和读出层,其可以磁静态方式或借助交换耦合进行耦合。RFMAMMOS在读出操作期间需要一个调制外磁场,这增加了功耗,但还是可以非常高的密度进行读出并且具有非常大的信号。类似ZF MAMMOS和DWDD的可选择技术在读出操作期间不需要外磁场,但是将会被限制于稍微较低的密度、较小的信号和较低的数据速率。
目前的域扩展技术限制于可重写盘。然而,数据不能自由写入到域扩展介质或盘中的ROM域扩展解决方案并不存在。在光存储介质家族中,ROM(只读存储器)格式被看作是用于廉价和快速再现预记录的数据的附加物。ROM的这些属性被看作是对于光存储产品家族的成功所必需的。在域扩展介质的情况下,ROM解决方案是价值不大的。其原因是数据是由存储层中的磁化方向来定义的,这种磁化方向例如通过注射模制在预记录的介质中是不容易再生的。
文献US5993937和EP0848381A2披露了在注射模制的基底上具有域扩展叠层的域扩展ROM介质,所述基底是平滑和粗糙的区域以便定义记录的信息。两种解决方案都使用了通过电子束控制抗蚀图案进行的蚀刻以便使玻璃主盘或基底上的区域粗糙。然后可使用所述主盘来生产传统的压模,该压模接下来用于产生具有粗糙区域的基底。磁存储层在已经将基底粗糙化的区域中将呈现增强的畴壁矫顽力,从而使得这些区域中的磁化更难于消除并且很难以成功的保持良好的读回性能这样一种方式进行重写。
使用传统的玻璃主盘构图和粗糙化的一个缺陷在于需要压模,而压模对于生产是昂贵的并且具有有限的使用期限。此外,随着位尺寸降低至亚100nm的大小,在技术上就越来越苛求粗糙的ROM数据图案的完全复制。另外,由于连续的写处理,通过照射抗蚀剂其后进行蚀刻来对各个基底进行构图和粗糙化是耗时的,这可能会阻碍该技术的商业竞争力。
因此本发明的目的是提供一种更加有效的对域扩展ROM介质的基底进行处理的解决方案。
该目的是通过如权利要求1中所述的处理方法和如权利要求13中所述的域扩展存储介质来实现的。
因此,可使用一种高分辨率非接触技术来处理域扩展存储介质的基底,由此能够改进ROM数据图案的复制。在离子束投射期间,可减小掩模图案,使得掩模形体尺寸可大于所要求的最小介质形体尺寸。
经处理的表面可以是所述的基底的表面或在执行离子束投射步骤之前沉积在基底上的种子金属或电介质材料的附加层的表面,其中在处理步骤中处理所述附加层的表面。在后者的情况下,可允许对表面处理进行更好的控制。
所述表面处理可以是用于在所述暴露部分产生粗糙或平滑的区域的图案的溅射工艺。曝光区域是粗糙的还是平滑的取决于入射离子的曝光时间、能量和质量以及曝光的材料。
另外,所述处理步骤适合于修改预定表面部分的光学性质以便定义所述存储介质的轨迹结构。由此,可通过平滑/粗糙的轨迹结构来代替传统光学介质的脊/槽轨迹结构。尤其是,第一掩模可用于形成数据图案,而第二掩模可用于形成轨迹结构。对于所述轨迹结构可执行至少两次的所述离子束投射和处理步骤。
此外,所述离子束投射和处理步骤适于将嵌入的伺服信息构图到所述表面中。因此,还是在该方面,传统光盘的相应脊/槽结构可被免除。可控制所述至少一个离子束的焦点以便修改所述表面的粗糙度。这样,第一焦点可用于形成所述数据结构,而第二焦点可用于形成伺服图案。
在所述离子束投射和处理步骤中构图整个盘。由此,单独的数据、轨迹和/或伺服图案可在短处理时间内被同时写入。

现在将在域扩展ROM盘的基础上说明本发明的优选实施例,其中在通过使用离子束投射光刻技术(IPL)进行制造的过程中对基底进行处理。

图3表示根据第二优选实施例的域扩展ROM盘的层结构的剖面图。这里,种子金属或电介质层70被首先沉积在基底40上,然后使用IPL对其进行粗糙化或构图以在种子层70的表面处形成粗糙区域72和平滑区域74。该附加的种子层70可允许对构图区域的粗糙度产生更大的控制。
在两个优选实施例中,也可通过IPL分别粗糙化基底40或种子层70至这样的程度,即叠层的光学属性可被充分修改以便可以检测发生的反射率变化。这可允许用平滑/粗糙轨迹结构来代替传统光学介质的脊/槽轨迹结构,反射光的任何损耗都表示轨迹边缘。使用适当的掩模,通过重复相应次数的IPL粗糙化或构图工艺,可能使“单倍”的曝光区域形成ROM数据图案,和“双倍”、“三倍”或“四倍”等的曝光区域形成轨迹结构。
可选择地,在两个优选实施例中,可使用IPL将嵌入的伺服信息构图到基底40或种子层70的表面中,这也允许免除传统光盘的脊/槽结构。这样一种伺服技术与硬盘中使用的类似。
可使用聚焦离子束设备来修正基底40或种子层70的粗糙度以便形成ROM数据、伺服图案和/或轨迹图案。然而,对必须移过整个基底表面的单聚焦离子束的使用可消耗非常大数量的时间,因此在商业上是不具有竞争力的。
IPL的优点在于它是高分辨率非接触技术。因此,ROM数据图案的完全复制将是相当容易的。此外,通过在一次曝光中使单独的数据、轨迹和/或伺服图案在几秒中同时写入而可以构图整个小格式盘。目标是在缝合的12.5mm×12.5mm范围上以50nm光刻节点(即关于半节距和形体尺寸的分辨率)利用每小时直到50晶片的300mm晶片生产量,或者更多。假定调换和曝光基底所需的时间少于20秒,并且将被构图的区域在12.5mm直径圆的范围内,则可实现每小时180盘的生产量。根据可在盘边缘处允许的图案失真的等级,可适应较大的曝光场。可选择地,通过使用对邻近区域进行多次曝光的技术,可以牺牲盘的生产量为代价来构图较大的盘。在IPL工艺期间,150mm SOI(硅基绝缘体)模板掩模20图案在投射到基底上期间可被减小例如四倍。因此,最小模板掩模20形体尺寸可大于所要求的介质最小形体(位)尺寸。可使用电子束光刻和半导体蚀刻技术来制造模板掩模20本身。
下面,将参照图4的流程图说明对域扩展ROM盘的基底40进行处理的方法。根据图4,在步骤S100,首先形成基底40,可以使用例如玻璃、聚碳酸酯、聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯、热塑源树脂或类似物。然后,在第二优选实施例的结构的情况下,在步骤S101在基底40上沉积种子或电介质层70。注意步骤S101在第一优选实施例中被省略了。在步骤S102,基底40或种子层70表面处的材料通过IPL被溅射开以形成粗糙区域42、72的图案以便在随后沉积的存储层50中定义畴部分,和/或轨迹和/或伺服图案。最后,在步骤S103,在经处理的或粗糙的表面上形成或沉积DomEx ROM盘的剩余层堆叠。
磁存储层50和磁读出层可以由具有相对较高的磁光效应的任何RE-TM化合物构成,例如TbFe、GdTbFe、TbFeCo、DyFe、GdDyFe、DyFeCo、GdDyFeCo和NdTbFeCo,或者可以由过渡金属氧化物和氮化物的混合物薄膜、铁氧体薄膜、或3D过渡金属磁性膜构成,其包括多层这样的膜。
本发明可应用于任何域扩展ROM介质,而离子束处理可以适于获得基底40的任何适当表面结构、种子层70或其他中间层,其可用于获得足以定义所提议的磁畴部分、轨迹和/或伺服图案的光学或磁属性。因此所述优选实施例可在后附权利要求的范围内发生改变。
Claims (15)
1.一种处理域扩展存储介质的基底的方法,其中磁壁在读出层中偏移,由此扩大存储层的磁畴以便再现由所述磁畴表示的信息,所述方法包括步骤:
a)使至少一束离子通过具有预定图案的掩模以便将所述预定图案朝向所述基底投射;
b)在暴露部分处通过所述至少一束离子处理表面;和
c)在所述经处理的表面之上沉积所述存储层以便在所述存储层中的与所述暴露部分相应的部分处定义数据结构的磁畴。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,进一步包括在执行所述离子束投射步骤之前,在所述基底上沉积由种子金属或电介质材料构成的附加层的初始步骤。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中在所述处理步骤中处理所述基底的表面。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述表面处理为用于在所述暴露部分产生粗糙或平滑区域的图案的溅射处理。
5.根据前述权利要求中的任何一个所述的方法,其中所述处理步骤适合于修改预定表面部分的光学性质以便定义所述存储介质的轨迹结构。
6.根据权利要求5所述的方法,其中第一掩模用于形成所述数据图案,并且第二掩模用于形成所述轨迹结构,或者反之亦然。
7.根据权利要求5或6所述的方法,其中对于所述轨迹结构执行至少两次的所述离子束投射和处理步骤。
8.根据权利要求5到7中的任何一个所述的方法,其中所述离子束投射和处理步骤适于将嵌入的伺服信息构图到所述表面中。
9.根据前述权利要求中的任何一个所述的方法,进一步包括控制所述至少一个离子束的焦点以便修改所述表面的粗糙度的步骤。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中第一焦点用于形成所述数据结构,而第二焦点用于形成伺服图案。
11.根据前述权利要求中的任何一个所述的方法,其中在所述离子束投射和处理步骤中构图整个盘。
12.根据前述权利要求中的任何一个所述的方法,进一步包括通过电子束光刻技术和随后的半导体蚀刻来形成所述掩模的步骤。
13.一种域扩展存储介质,其中磁壁在读出层中偏移,由此扩大存储层的磁畴以便再现由所述磁畴表示的信息,所述存储介质包括通过离子束投射光刻技术以预定的图案进行处理以定义所述存储层的数据图案、轨迹图案和伺服图案中的至少一种的中间表面。
14.根据权利要求13所述的存储介质,其中所述经处理的中间表面对应于所述存储介质的基底的表面。
15.根据权利要求13所述的存储介质,其中所述经处理的中间表面对应于沉积在所述存储介质的基底上的种子或电介质层的表面。
