本发明涉及提供改进电视服务的方法和设备。
机顶盒是一种通常使用的设备，一般用于从卫星、有线或陆地广播接收电视广播。随着互联网业务的迅速发展，从机顶盒(STB)到互联网的链接业已公知。利用包含集成的接收机/解码器(IRD)的STB建立起到互联网连接。电视机或其它显示装置连接到STB的输出端用于收视STB的输出，虽然STB的功能可以被装入电视机或显示器中。这样的连接允许在电视节目或广告与在互联网上的多媒体内容之间建立联系，这些多媒体内容例如是电影、图象、三维模型、声音样值、web网页、JAVA应用。收视者在收看电视节目或广告的同时可以选择收视附加信息。
但是，从互联网检索信息的速度是无法预测的。

本发明的目的是提供一种以比当前的方式可能更满意地允许馈送以互联网为基础的内容或者其它内容到机顶盒等的方法和设备。
按照本发明，提供一种提供多媒体服务到数字电视接收机设备的方法，其特征在于包括以下步骤：
事先向接收设备提供有关与广播的内容预先广播时间安排的信息；
使接收设备在预先安排广播时间之前连接到服务器，从诸如多媒体之类的源接收有关要广播的内容的多媒体内容；和
使该内容将被高速缓存。
该方法还包括：在要广播的附加多媒体内容有效的所述内容的广播期间，提供指示的步骤。可选择地，该指示可以是可视的指示，通过在屏幕上提供这种可视的指示或通过在设备的机壳上的指示灯，允许用户进行改变。指示的其它可能类型包括可闻的声音或诸如利用振动控制装置的触觉指示。
在要广播的内容是在预先安排的节目期间的预先安排的电视节目或广告的情况下，则事先的信息可以利用电子节目指南设施提供给接收设备。
按照本发明还提供一种数字电视接收设备，包括：
接口装置，用于连接信息源；和

按照本发明还提供一种数字电视机，包括：万维网接口装置和机顶盒设施，其特征在于机顶盒事先经互联网发送对任何与节目有关的多媒体内容的询问消息；产生将在机顶盒中高速缓存的内容；在有关附加多媒体内容有效的节目广播期间，提供可视指示，并且在收视者选择下提供对附加内容的访问。

现在将参照附图1和2以例子的方式进行描述。

图2表示本发明的一个例子在工作期间的数据流。
具体实施例方式
在图1中以机顶盒(STB)形式的数字电视接收设备10的主要部件包括：中央处理单元CPU 12；随机存储器RAM 14；只读存储器ROM 16；接收装置18，如箭头20指示从广播商接收信号；视频显示发生器单元VID 22和由箭头26指示双向链路可连接到传送多媒体服务的服务器的接口24，其中可直接连接到特定服务器或者到经互联网28可连接的服务器。这些服务经常是以万维网(www)文本表现的。该设备最好设置以硬盘驱动器形式的存储器29。从视频显示发生器单元22的输出提供到显示屏30(可以是电视机)以便收视。
可选择地，设备10还具有有条件访问机制32，防止收视者收看未付费节目。
经STB可访问向收视者显示关于电视广播节目的信息的电子节目指南(EPG)设施。需要对EPG有规律地更新数据，保证将关于节目的正确信息显示给收视者。为了获得这些数据，STB可以通过接口24间歇地直接连接到服务器或经互联网28(选择性地从互联网侧)检索关于即将来临电视节目的信息。这样的数据可以是由广播商提供的，并且可以插到例如信号20的数字电视广播流中，在这种情况下数据是通过接收装置18接收的。取决于EPG的复杂程度和用户的要求，EPG可以允许用户通过主题或通过日期和时间检查节目的可利用性；向用户提供关于演员、导演、电影的背景信息，并建立喜爱频道等的个人表。事先搜索选择也是可以利用的。
接口24可以是一般经电信网或所谓有线电视网连接到服务器或互联网之一。接口24的例子类型包括调制解调器、综合业务数字网(ISDN)适配器、或网络适配器。
按照本发明，除登录EPG的节目外，还包含到保持有关节目信息的专用服务器或者互联网址的链接。另外一种方案，STB可以提供在预先安排广播时间之前以较宽的范围搜索与节目有关的互联网信息的能力，这种搜索例如根据包含在登录电子节目指南中的字或短语。在任何情况下，然后STB按高速缓存类型的操作下载并本地存储感兴趣的信息。当具有与该信息相关的电视节目或广告实际广播时，则该信息可以及时从本地提供。该数据可以被高速缓存在硬盘、存储器、或本专业技术人员所了解的诸如光盘之类的适合的存储装置中。
例如，广播商可以希望向收视者提供关于特殊电视节目的附加信息，诸如肥皂剧。广播商将附加信息放到互联网上。EPG规定要由STB高速缓存的内容的存放位置。在有关信息的节目或广告存在期间，STB产生要显示的图标，指示用附加多媒体内容。如果收视者希望看这种替代的内容，也看节目或广告，则STB使其显示在显示屏30。收视者可以选择是否在单立的屏上与广播同时收视附加内容，按照透明或不透明的重叠的方式，或按照如图1所示的插入屏幕34。收视者事实上必须无延迟地即时访问相关的信息，即按照互联网访问的特性。
在一种变型中，可能有多组广播商希望收视者接收相关信息。例如考虑3组网页，广播商将希望收视者在节目广播之前看第一组，在广播中广告中断期间看第二组，并且当节目结束时看第三组。3组网页根据一天的时间给出时间锁定，保证在指定时间前不能收看。所有3组在广播前利用高速缓存内容中的时间锁定被高速缓存。收视者可以选择收视每一组，但不能在第二和第三组前收视。为了这种方案正确运作，可以要求加密机制。
在实施中，虽然使用‘时间锁定’表示，但允许访问信息的瞬间可以与电视节目的广播时间有关，而不是绝对时间。与规划的广播时间比较，为了累积实际节目广播时间的偏差，触发器‘未锁定’的时间锁定内容可以由广播商用电视广播信号20或经诸如通过电话链路的通信网络经接口24中继到STB。

作为一种变换EPG提供互联网内容位置的检索的方式，节目提供商或广告商可以提供事先信息驱动搜索。
在这种安排中，数据流如图2所示。广告商40提供广告信息并对广播商42付费，广播商42对STB 44、46、...预先安排可用信息。广告商40还在互联网28上放置有关广告的多媒体内容，在广告的广播之前互联网被STB 44、46访问。
由广告商或广播商放置在互联网的多媒体数据可以被诸如单一URL(统一资源定位符)之类的码进行寻址，虽然当然一个URL可以被用于访问若干网页、若干三维模型等等。单一URL被插入到指定位置的广播流中，正如是在公知的图文电视服务那样，当图标被显示时进行指示。当访问多媒体内容可用时，码还可以增加指示STB、并且保持高速缓存的多媒体内容多长。另外一种情况下，EPG触发器信息可以包含在广播流中，例如数字MPEG 2。

而在另一个例子中，STB被安排为高速缓存收视者的10个喜爱的节目。STB可以在10个喜爱项目中自动操作，或收视者可以手动选择和输入。当在网上开始冲浪时，已高速缓存的喜爱的项目就可以提供给收视者。
在一种变型中，收视者可以手动设定URL的优先权，或STB可以使用收视者的自动描述设置优先权，并且STB然后对适当URL自动搜索网页。
而在另一个变型中，对有关某个节目信息第三方可以使用冲浪网页，并且STB可以相应地工作。例如，如果EPG指示STB一个特定肥皂剧要广播，该STB需要知道在哪里能看有关的多媒体。一个解决办法是使STB询问互联网的服务器，获取关于肥皂剧的URL表，最好是最佳这种网址。第三方可以付费来创建这样的表，并对其进行更新。
从这些例子将清楚看出，STB将理想地具有处理需要处理的多媒体内容诸如要作广告的物品的三维修饰的任何种类的能力。最好是，STB必须能处理JAVA小程序。为帮助实现这种要求，作为软件使用和标准发展，STB可以设置下载软件更新STB的能力。
按照本发明将使用的URL可以规定特定的特征或可以按特殊的方式发送，以便提供非常高的数据下载可能性，即收视者选择点击附加多媒体内容。这种URL对广告商可能提供附加的满意度。

Claims (16)

1.一种向数字电视接收设备提供多媒体服务的方法，包括以下步骤：
事先向接收设备提供有关预先安排的要广播的内容的广播时间信息；
使接收设备在预定广播时间事先进行连接，接收从这种多媒体内容源要广播的内容有关的多媒体内容；和
使该内容进行高速缓存。
