Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明涉及等离子显示器以及其驱动方法。
背景技术
一般等离子显示器(Plasma Display Panel:以下称为“PDP”)是根据He+Xe,Ne+Xe或者He+Xe+Ne等惰性混合气体在放电时发生的147nm紫外线放射荧光体而显示文字或者包括图形的图像。
图1是按传统矩阵形态排列并具有放电单元结构的三电极交流表面型PDP结构的斜视图。
参照图1,三电极交流表面型PDP100具备上部板10上的扫描电极11a以及持续电极12a和,形成在下部板20上的地址电极22。扫描电极11a和持续电极12a分别用透明电极形成比如,铟锡氧化物(Indium-Tin-Oxide:ITO)。扫描电极11a和持续电极12a分别形成减少阻抗的金属母线电极11b,12b。形成扫描电极11a和持续电极12a的上部板10上叠层上部绝缘层13a和保护膜14。上部绝缘层13a上积累等离子放电时发生的壁电荷。保护膜14防止根据等离子放电时溅射的上部绝缘层13a的损伤同时提高二次电子的放出效率。作为保护膜14通常利用氧化镁(MgO)。
另一方面,形成地址电极22的下部板20上形成下部绝缘层13b和隔离墙21,下部绝缘层13b和隔离墙21的表面上涂敷荧光体层23。地址电极22形成在与扫描电极11a以及持续电极12a交叉的方向上。隔离墙21与地址电极22并列形成而防止根据放电形成的紫外线以及可见光邻接的放电单元的泄漏。荧光体层23根据等离子放电时发生的紫外线过滤并放射红色(R),绿色(G)或者蓝色(B)之中任何一个的可见光。
根据上部板10和下部板20之间的放电单元里注入He+Xe或者Ne+Xe等放电时所需要的惰性混合气体。如此结构的传统PDP的驱动方法如下图2。
图2是说明传统PDP驱动方法的驱动波形。在图2,传统PDP分为初始化全屏幕的重启期间,选择单元的地址期间以及维持选择单元放电的持续期间并驱动。
首先,重启期间分set up期间SU和set down期间SD驱动,在setup期间SU所有扫描电极Y上同时供应斜线上声波形Ramp-up。根据此斜线上声波形Ramp-up全屏幕的单元内发生放电。根据此set up放电地址电极X和持续电极Z上积累正极壁电荷,扫描电极Y上积累负极壁电荷。在set down期间SD供应斜线上升波形之后,在比斜线上升波形峰值电压低的正极电压开始下降到接地电压(GND)或者负极的特定电压的斜线下降波形Ramp-down在单元内发生微弱的消除放电而除去一些过渡形成的壁电荷。根据此set down放电在单元内均匀的残留稳定发生地址放电的壁电荷。
地址期间扫描电极Y上按次序供应负极扫描脉冲Scan同时被扫描脉冲同期而地址电极X上供应正极数据脉冲data。加起来此扫描脉冲和数据脉冲的电压之差以及在重启期间生成的壁电压并被供应数据脉冲的单元内发生地址放电。根据地址放电选择的单元内形成供应持续电压时发生电压程度的壁电荷。持续电极Z上供应在set down期间和地址期间减少与扫描电极Y的电压之差而与扫描电极Y不会发生误放电的正极直流电压Zdc。
在持续期间扫描电极Y和持续电极Z上交替供应持续脉冲Sus。根据地址放电选择的单元当单元内的壁电压和持续脉冲加起来并每一次供应持续脉冲时在扫描电极Y和持续电极Z之间发生持续放电,即显示放电。而且,结束持续放电之后持续电极Z上供应小脉冲宽度和小电压的斜线波形Ramp-ers而除去残留在全屏幕单元内的壁电荷。
另一方面,发生在上述的持续期间扫描电极或者持续电极上供应持续脉冲的能源回收电路部如下图3。
图3是包括在传统等离子显示器的能源回收电路部。参照图3,能源回收电路部的起动分为四个阶段。
首先,在第一阶段打开第一开关S1,关闭第二至第四开关S2,S3,S4。像这样起动开关时发生LC共振,储藏在电容器CS的能源通过感应器L充电到等离子显示器的电容器CP上。
此后,在第二阶段打开第三开关S3,关闭第一,第二以及第四开关S1,S2,S4。像这样起动开关时通过打开的第三开关持续电压Vs供应到等离子显示器的电容器CP上。
在第三阶段打开第二开关S2,关闭第一,第三以及第四开关S1,S3,S4。像这样起动开关时电容器CP的能源通过感应器L放电到电容器CS而能源回收。
最后,在第四阶段打开第四开关S4,关闭第一至第三开关S1,S2,S3。像这样起动开关时电容器CP的电位降低到地平面(groundlevel)。
通过如此的过程传统的能源回收电路部供应持续脉冲。如此的传统能源回收电路部在持续脉冲的下降期间能源回收之后在上升期间利用回收的能源供应持续脉冲而减少消费电力。
但是,如此的传统能源回收电路部回收的能源比Vs/2小或相同,因此提高能源效率上有界限。
发明内容
本发明其目的在于提供提高能源效率同时提高亮度的等离子显示器以及其驱动方法。
根据本发明的等离子显示器包括等离子显示器和持续脉冲供应到上述等离子显示器时,根据一个持续脉冲发生多次放电并具备第一能源存储部和第二能源存储部的包括能源回收电路的扫描驱动部以及持续驱动部。
根据本发明的等离子显示器的驱动方法具有如下特征;持续脉冲供应到等离子显示器时一个持续脉冲里包括峰化脉冲并发生多次放电。
如此的本发明等离子显示器上供应持续脉冲时利用峰化脉冲发生多次放电而提高能源效率和亮度。

具体实施方式
根据本发明的等离子显示器包括等离子显示器和持续脉冲供应到上述等离子显示器时,根据一个持续脉冲发生多次放电的具备第一能源存储部和第二能源存储部并包括能源回收电路的扫描驱动部以及持续驱动部。
上述能源回收电路具有如下特征:

上述能源回收开关部包括第一开关元件和第二开关元件,上述第一开关元件的体二极管和上述第二开关元件的体二极管具有逆方向的特征。
上述第一开关元件当上述等离子显示器上供应上述第一能源存储部的能源时打开,上述第二开关元件把上述等离子显示器上供应的能源回收到上述第一能源存储部并储藏时打开。
上述峰化脉冲的电压比上述持续电压高。
根据本发明的等离子显示器的驱动方法具有如下特征:
等离子显示器上供应持续脉冲时一个持续脉冲里包括峰化脉冲而发生多次放电。

等离子显示器100按一定间距结合上部板(未图示)和下部板(未图示),在上部板形成多个电极,比如扫描电极Y1至Yn以及持续电极Z成双形成,在下部板扫描电极Y1至Yn以及持续电极Z与地址电极X1至Xm交叉形成。
在数据驱动部122根据未图示的逆伽马补偿电路,误差扩散电路等补偿逆伽马以及扩散误差之后,根据子图场映射(mapping)电路各子图场上供应映射的数据。如此的数据驱动部122应答从时间控制部121的时间控制信号CTRX取样数据并锁定之后,把其数据供应到地址电极X1至Xm上。
扫描驱动部123在时间控制部121的控制下在重启期间扫描电极Y1至Yn上供应斜线上升波形Ramp-up和斜线下降波形Ramp-down。而且,扫描驱动部123在时间控制部121的控制下在地址期间把扫描电压-Vy的扫描脉冲Sp按次序供应到扫描电极Y1至Yn上,在持续期间把根据具备在内部的能源回收电路部发生的持续脉冲供应到扫描电极上。这时,一个持续脉冲包括峰化脉冲并发生多次放电。
持续驱动部124在时间控制部121的控制下在发生斜线下降波形Ramp-down期间和地址期间把持续电压Vs的偏压供应到持续电极Z,在持续期间具备在内部的持续驱动电路与具备在扫描驱动部123的持续驱动电路交替起动,把持续脉冲sus供应到持续电极Z。这时,一个持续脉冲包括峰化脉冲并发生多次放电。
另一方面,如上述根据包括在扫描驱动部或者持续驱动部的能源回收电路部发生的所有持续脉冲上包括峰化脉冲并供应到所有扫描电极或持续电极上,根据情况只供应到扫描电极或者持续电极上,把峰化脉冲不是包括在根据上述能源回收电路部发生的所有持续脉冲,而是只包括在一些持续脉冲并供应到扫描电极或者持续电极上。
时间控制部121被输入垂直/水平同期信号和时钟信号在重启期间,地址期间,持续期间发生控制各驱动部122,123,124起动时间和同期化的时间控制信号CTRX,CTRY,CTRZ,把其时间控制信号CTRX,CTRY,CTRZ供应到该驱动部122,123,124上并控制各驱动部122,123,124。
另一方面,数据控制信号CTRX包括取样数据的取样时钟,锁定控制信号,持续驱动电路和控制驱动开关元件的开关时间的开关控制信号。扫描控制信号CTRY包括扫描驱动部123内的持续驱动电路和控制驱动开关元件开关时间的开关控制信号,持续控制信号CTRZ包括持续驱动部124内的持续驱动电路和控制驱动开关元件开关时间的开关控制信号。
驱动电压发生部125发生set up电压Vsetup,扫描共同电压Vscan-com,扫描电压-Vy,持续电压Vs,数据电压Vd等。如此的驱动电压根据放电气体的形成或放电单元结构可变化。
具有如此结构的根据本发明的等离子显示器按如下图5以及图6说明包括在扫描驱动部以及持续驱动部的能源回收电路部和根据能源回收电路部的起动发生的持续脉冲波形图。
图5是根据本发明的能源回收电路部的电路图,图6是根据本发明能源回收电路部起动的波形图。
根据本发明的能源回收电路部如图5所示,包括供应峰化脉冲的峰化脉冲供应部215,能源回收开关部230以及第一能源存储部210而显示器Cp在充电、放电时把能源储藏在第一能源存储部2l0的第一电容器Cs1和第二能源存储部235的第二电容器Cs2之后重新启动显示器Cp时使用。这时,能源回收开关部230包括两个FET开关元件。
首先,打开能源回收开关部230的第四开关Q4时,第一能源存储部210的第一电容器Cs1通过第四开关Q4和第三开关Q3的体二极管DER1把储藏的能源供应到显示器Qp。
然后,打开峰化脉冲供应部215的峰化脉冲用开关Qp1时储藏在第二能源存储部235的第二电容器Cs2的能源通过共振部220的线圈L和扫描电极注入到显示器Cp并根据LC共振扫描电极上供应比持续电压高的峰化脉冲。
像这样打开峰化脉冲215的峰化脉冲用开关Qp时,第一能源存储部210的第一电容器Cs1通过峰化脉冲供应部215的峰化脉冲用开关Qp把储藏的能源向第二电容器Cs2方向供应。
即,第一能源存储部210在显示器Cp上加一定电压之后,打开峰化脉冲供应部215的峰化脉冲用开关Qp,而缓和一些瞬间加在显示器Cp上的峰值电流。
因此,除去因高电压以及高电流的峰值电流发生的噪音成分,而波形稳定在实际持续驱动过程中几乎不会发生发热。
然后,峰化脉冲的电压达到最高值时打开持续驱动部225的第一开关Q1,关闭峰化脉冲用开关Qp和能源回收开关部230的第三开关Q3。对此持续电压Vs供应到扫描电极同时通过峰化脉冲用开关Qp的体二极管Dp充电第二能源存储部235的第二电容器Cs2。
在此过程中发生两次持续放电。即,供应峰化脉冲时发生持续放电,持续电压供应到Y电极时再一次发生持续放电。
然后,打开能源回收开关部230的第三开关Q3时,充电在显示器Cp的电荷通过第三开关Q3和第四开关Q4的体二极管DER2充电到第一能源存储部210的第一电容器Cs1并下一个持续脉冲上升时重新使用。
即,根据本发明的能源回收电路部充电显示器Cp时都利用第一能源存储部210以及第二能源存储部235的能源,但显示器Cp放电时充电在显示器Cp上的电荷重新通过能源回收开关部230的第三开关Q3能源只储藏在第一能源存储部210的第一电容器Cs1上。
而且,第二能源存储部235的第二电容器Cs2在打开持续驱动部225的第一开关Q1而供应持续电压时,通过峰化脉冲用开关Qp的体二极管Dp充电,打开第一开关Q1时因几乎没有消费的能源,而减少消费电力。
如此的本发明能源回收电路部利用储藏在第一能源存储部210的能源,因此如图6的斜线部分所示,扩大放大领域而提高亮度。
Claims (9)
1、等离子显示器具有如下特征:
包括等离子显示器;和
具备第一能源存储部和第二能源存储部并包含能源回收电路的扫描驱动部以及持续驱动部使之当上述等离子显示器上供应持续脉冲时,根据一个持续脉冲发生多次放电。
2、根据权利要求1的等离子显示器具有如下特征:
上述能源回收电路包括把储藏在上述第一能源存储部的能源供应到等离子显示器,把上述等离子显示器上供应的能源回收到上述第一能源存储部并储藏的能源回收开关部;
把储藏在上述第一能源存储部的能源供应到等离子显示器之后,把上述第二能源存储部上储藏的能源供应到上述等离子显示器的峰化脉冲供应部;
根据上述峰化脉冲供应部储藏在上述第二能源存储部的能源供应到上述等离子显示器时发生峰化脉冲的共振部;以及
发生上述峰化脉冲之后,用持续电压维持上述等离子显示器上供应的能源回收到上述第一能源存储部之后使上述等离子显示器成为地平面(ground level)的持续驱动部。
3、根据权利要求2的等离子显示器具有如下特征:上述能源回收开关部包括第一开关元件和第二开关元件,
上述第一开关元件的体二极管和上述第二开关元件的体二极管具有逆方向。
4、根据权利要求3的等离子显示器具有如下特征:上述第一开关元件当上述等离子显示器上供应上述第一能源存储部的能源时打开,
上述第二开关元件把上述等离子显示器上供应的能源回收到上述第一能源存储部并储藏时打开。
5、根据权利要求2的等离子显示器具有如下特征:上述峰化脉冲的电压比上述持续电压高。
6、等离子显示器的驱动方法具有如下特征:等离子显示器上供应持续脉冲时一个持续脉冲里包括峰化脉冲而发生多次放电。
7、根据权利要求6的等离子显示器的驱动方法具有如下特征:上述等离子显示器上供应持续脉冲时包括
把储藏在第一能源存储部的能源供应到等离子显示器的阶段;
把上述储藏在第一能源存储部的能源供应到等离子显示器之后,把储藏在第二能源存储部的能源供应到等离子显示器并发生峰化脉冲的阶段;以及
发生上述峰化脉冲之后,上述等离子显示器用持续电压维持并成为地平面(ground level)的阶段。
8、根据权利要求6的等离子显示器的驱动方法具有如下特征:上述多次放电的次数为两次。
9、根据权利要求7的等离子显示器的驱动方法具有如下特征:上述峰化脉冲的电压比上述持续电压高。
