背景技术
诸如因特网之类的由计算机处理的信息源的发展，使得用户能够与各种不同的服务器进行通信，以获取无法通过常规电子介质得到的电子信息。服务器通常是一个可以通过因特网进行访问的远程计算机系统。服务器的功能是响应于用户的请求而搜索和查找信息源。这样，就可以以超文本的形式将电子信息呈现给用户，在超文本中，文本、图像、声音和动作全部都以复杂的连接方式链接到了一起，这使得用户能够通过相关的标题来进行浏览。
用户(或客户机)可以利用由超文本传输协议(HTTP)提供的功能与服务器进行链接。在客户机中的活动是一种称为“浏览器”的处理，它与服务器建立连接并以HTTP响应(或网页)的形式将信息呈现给用户。万维网(WWW)包括所有遵从这一协议的服务器，并且这些服务器可由用户(或客户机)通过通用资源定位器(Universal Resource Locator)(URL)进行访问。因此，我们可以通过指定具有下述两个基本元素的通用资源定位器来获得访问因特网业务的途径：所要使用的协议和目标路径名。例如，通用资源定位器地址“http://www.nbc.com”指定了超文本传输协议(“http”)和服务器的路径名(“www.nbc.com”)。服务器名与一个唯一的数字值(TCP/IP地址)相应。

发明内容
本发明涉及一种用于获取与电视节目相关的信息的方法。该方法包括一个进行着连接的网站，该网站包括与正在收看的电视节目有关的信息。从该网站上下载所迷信息并随后对这些信息进行处理。此外，随后将这些信息与正在收看的电视节目一起显示或将这些信息保存以备之后播放。
本发明还涉及一种视频处理系统。该系统包括用于与包括与正在收看的电视节目有关的信息的网站进行连接的装置。而且，还包括用于从该网站上下载所述信息的装置和用于对这些信息进行处理的装置。此外，还包括用于将这些信息与正在收看的电视节目一起显示的装置或用于将这些信息保存以备之后播放的装置。

在这些应用程序中也包含网络浏览器。在操作期间，将使用网络浏览器来接入网络22，以下载与正由用户观看的节目相关的信息。应当注意，在各种按照本发明的优选实施例的执行过程中，可以利用任何数量的可通过商业手段或公开途径得到的浏览器。例如，按照本发明的优选实施例，可以利用诸如NetscapeTM(Netscape公司的商标)之类的浏览器来提供在HTTP下规定的功能。
EPG也可以是包含在存储器4中的另一个应用程序。如前面所述，EPG使得用户能够选择想要收看或记录的那些节目。如果EPG是存储在存储器4中的，则它将可以在工作期间通过广播装置20或网络22进行更新。不过，EPG也可以作为一种服务通过广播装置20或网络22提供给本系统。这种服务的一个例子是由Gemstar提供的这样的服务，这个服务是在广播信号的垂直消隐期内传送的。该应当注意，EPG还可以包括一个或多个提供与EPG中所列的节目相应的网站的链接的标签。这些标签可由本发明所用，后面将对它们进行详细介绍。

附图2表示按照本发明的一个示范性实施例的获取与电视节目相关的信息的方法的一个实例的流程图。应当注意到，可以将附图2中的方法实施为在(例如)附图1中的系统中保存并执行的计算机可读代码。不过，另外，也可以使用硬件电路来代替软件指令或与软件指令结合在一起，来实施这一方法。
在操作过程中，在观看节目的同时，用户可以作出他需要关于当前收看的节目的附加信息的决定。取决于查询的类型，所述信息可以包括所述节目的具体项目或情节。所述信息还可以包括所述节目中的具体的人物角色、系列片中一个具体节目的介绍、系列片的历程或者其它片断的概要。所述信息也可以是语音插曲或诸如游戏之类的应用程序的形式。按照其它的实施方式，这一信息可以包括，例如文本信息或其它片断中的类似情节的视频短片。如果是这样，例如将会通过附图1的用户接口发送一个命令来发送用户输入，以请求这样的信息。
响应于此，将开始进行附图2的方法并前进到步骤100。在步骤100中，响应于用户的输入，进行与包含关于正在收看的节目的信息的站点的连接。今天，许多正在播放的电视节目都有包含诸如历程、其它片断的概要和其它相关信息之类的信息的网站。这种网站的一个例子是“www.dawsons-creek.com”。而且，按照本发明，可以建立包含上面提高的那样的信息并且此外还包含其它片断的实际视频短片或文本信息的专门网站。

Claims (1)

1.用于获取关于电视节目的信息的方法，所述方法包括如下步骤：
响应于从用户接收用于搜索与用户正在收看的电视节目中的情节有关的信息的请求，与包含有关正在收看的所述电视节目的信息的网站进行连接（100）；
通过使用描述所述情节的元数据来识别网站上的信息；
下载（200）已识别的文本、音频或视频信息形式的信息；以及
对下载的已识别的信息进行处理（300）以形成关于所述情节的历程或概要。
2. 按照权利要求1所述的方法，其中所述有关电视节目的信息是从由节目中的具体项目、具体的情节、节目中的人物角色、节目的历程、该节目的其它片断的概要、其它片断的各个概要以及其它片断中的类似情节构成的组中选取的。
3. 按照权利要求1所述的方法，其中所述与网站进行连接（100）包括使用从由与正在收看的电视节目相应的来自电子节目指南的标签、搜索引擎和预定的网站地址构成的组中选择的机制。
4. 按照权利要求1所述的方法，其中从网站下载信息（200）包括：
从所述网站摘录信息；和
通过网络传送这些信息。
5. 按照权利要求1所述的方法，其中从网站下载信息(200)包括：
识别关于类似于用户正在收看的电视节目中的情节的其它片断中的情节的信息；
从所述网站上摘录关于所述其它片断中的情节的信息；和
通过网络发送关于所述其它片断中的情节的信息。
6. 按照权利要求1所述的方法，其中对信息进行处理（300）包括合并其它片断的概要。
7. 按照权利要求1所述的方法，其中对信息进行处理（300）包括合并其它片断中与用户正在收看的电视节目中的情节相类似的情节的视频的剪片。
8. 按照前述任何一项权利要求所述的方法，还包括保存信息以备之后播放的步骤（400）。
9. 按照权利要求1到8中任何一项所述的方法，还包括和正在收看的电视节目一起显示关于该电视节目的信息的步骤（500）。
10.   一种视频处理系统，包括：
- 用于响应于从用户接收用于搜索与用户正在收看的电视节目中的情节有关的信息的请求，与包含有关正在收看的所述电视节目的信息的网站进行连接的装置（2，4）；
- 通过使用描述所述情节的元数据来识别网站上的信息的装置；
- 用于从该网站上下载已识别的文本、音频或视频信息形式的信息的装置（2，4）；和
- 用于对下载的已识别的信息进行处理以形成关于所述情节的历程或概要的装置（2，4）。
11.   按照权利要求10所述的系统，还包括用于与正在收看的电视节目一起显示所述信息的装置（18）。
12.   按照权利要求10或11所述的系统，还包括用于保存所述信息以备之后播放的装置（16）。
