技术领域
本发明涉及电视节目选择系统，其中电视观众被提供了节目的信息，并允许电视观众选择他们认为最可能是最好的娱乐节目源的那些节目。
背景技术
过去，电视观众选择节目时，常通过参考电视节目表、报纸的电视节目指南和其他书面信息源来选择他们喜欢收看的节目。就告知公众特定电影、电视剧和其他节目的内容角度而言，这类信息至多是含糊而有限的。即使在得知了整版电影内容的情况下，象得到专门电视介绍时一样，很多观众也通常会感到很失望。产生这种现象的部分原因是由于书面版所固有的冷淡。仅仅靠书面描述不能充分传递电影将在每个人内心所产生的热情、表演和感情。
电视频道数猛增，由此，用户可获得的节目也增加了很多。在不久的将来，这种趋势看来还会继续。所以，在选择娱乐节目时，迫切需要更多的选择性。
除电视节目猛增之外，如TiVo那样的机器能记录36小时的电视节目时间，这也要求进行更信息丰富的节目选择。
本发明反映了这样一个发现：文字描述并不能给电视观众提供足够的信息来作出明智的节目选择。
本发明是一种电视节目选择系统，其中每个节目选择在屏幕上显示为关键帧，该关键帧从录像带节目显示中抽取出。关键帧用于替换所需的描述，但关键帧可以与简要信息结合在一起使用以增加所显示的信息。关键帧可以以连续马赛克形式，或闪动图像序列显示，但与电影中片头(coming attraction)的显示不同。当其不断显示时，关键帧图像序列代表节目显示的连续流(continuum)。所以，个人可以很快对节目情节、范畴和实质留下很深的印象。关键帧自身也可以包含一个能说明主题的突出帧。
在美国专利5,822,014中，示出了一种节目选择方法，其中电视节目显示通过图像马赛克加以显示。马赛克被分成9个长方条，每一个长方条显示频道传输标记。该系统提供了在马赛克图像中移动的能力，从而给观众带来灵活性。
在日本专利公开号JP08307728A中，描述了一个根据基于节目类型(genre)而预先选定的图像来显示节目的方法。例如，一个棒球比赛可以通过一个运动员握着一个球棒来表现。但是，与本发明不同，该图像不是关键帧，并且该图像也不代表故事线索或显示进程。除在电视上显示图像外，上述方法还计划在手持远距装置中显示这些图像。
在美国专利6,005,562中，示出了一个显示具有简化图像和节目内容摘要的电视节目方法。详细地，在接收端，从接收到的节目数据中分离出EPG数据，并显示简化图像，该图像比EPG数据的正常尺寸表示小。
发明内容
根据本发明，示出了一种方法和系统，其中选择性的电视节目选择可以通过显示关键帧信息来进行。在节目显示进程中，抽取出该特定节目显示的关键帧，以提供该节目的节略故事线索连续流。电视节目选择系统使用从录像节目显示中抽取出的关键帧来替换所需的描述。然而，也计划可将关键帧图像与简要信息和/或原声摘要播出一起使用以增强表示的信息。
关键帧可以以连续的形式显示，比如一个闪动图像序列，而与电影片头的显示方式不同。关键帧图像序列表示节目情节、范畴和实质的连续流。关键帧自身可以包含一个能说明主题的突出帧，比如，以单一颜色示出的帧。
本发明的一个目的是提供一种改善的电视节目选择系统，该系统可以很好的指示节目显示的范畴、情节和特征。
本发明的另一个目的是提供一种电视节目选择系统，其特征在于关键帧信息以序列形式显示，以使用户在节略连续流中理解故事线索或情节。

具体实施方式
总的来说，本发明的特征在于：利用每一节目的关键帧图像的电视节目选择系统和方法。关键帧是在节目进程中从被记录的节目显示中抽取出来的。图像的连续流能给观众提供每一节目的节略故事线索和范畴，从而使观众可以明智的选择他或她希望记录和/或观看的节目。
现在看图1，框图示出了一个典型的、现有技术中的电视节目选择表格10。如所观察到的，电视节目选择表格10包括显示在表格10顶端的时间轴12，和显示在表格10左边的频道轴14。各个时间长条16沿着x轴或时间轴12显示。各个频道长条18沿着y轴或电视频道轴14显示。表格10包括多个节目窗口15，该窗口包含在时间和频道长条中所得节目的有关文字说明。该类文字选择表格10没有给出节目内容，因此，电视观众不能得出明智的选择以决定他或她更喜欢观看和/或记录的节目。
请看图2，示出了根据本发明的一个电视节目选择表格20的框图。与现有技术的表格10类似，本发明的表格20包括具有时间长条16的时间轴12和具有频道长条18的频道轴14。但是，与现有技术中的表格10不同，本发明的表格20包括一个显示窗口15’，该窗口包含关于每个放置在长条中的节目的图像信息。该图像给出了所要观看节目的简要情况。可以指导电视观众使用他的遥控棒(未示出)或鼠标(如果电视在一个电脑监视器上播放)来点击表格10的窗口15，以开始或调用新图像表格20。
可以通过菜单文本、机械指示或其他方式来指导对显示窗口15’中所表示的任何特定节目感兴趣的电视观众，使用他或她的遥控棒或鼠标来选择感兴趣的特定窗口15’。这样，该窗口将开始显示节目的一系列连续的关键帧图像。该连续关键帧图象与节目显示的进程有关，因此，将提供给观众该特定节目的一系列连续关键帧。随着节目不断显示该关键帧从被记录的节目显示中抽取出来。该图像连续流可以给观众提供每一节目的节略故事线索和范畴，因此用户可以对他或她想记录和/或观看的节目作出明智的选择。一个这样的关键帧可以突出显示，比如把该图像用单一颜色或明亮的边界线表示。突出显示的关键帧应是最能代表整个节目主题的帧。每个关键帧图像都可以附有将进一步提高观众的理解力的简要文字信息和/或原声摘要播出。
因为对本领域普通技术人员而言，显然其他各种改变和修改可以变化来适合于特定的工作要求或工作环境，所以本发明不应限于为公开的目的而选择的实施例，并且本发明将覆盖不脱离本发明宗质和范围的改变和修改。
以上已经说明了本发明，希望由专利证书保护的内容在随后所附的权利要求中被提出。

Claims (12)

1.一种电视节目选择系统，包括：被分成特定时间和频道长条的电视节目表格(10)，所述表格包括每一节目的关键帧图像(15’)；和选择被放置在长条中的节目，以显示所述关键帧图像(15’)的连续显示的选择装置。
2.根据权利要求1的电视节目选择系统，其特征在于所述的关键帧图像(15’)随着节目的故事线索或进程以序列形式被调用。
3.根据权利要求1的电视节目选择系统，其特征在于所述关键帧图像(15’)之一被突出显示。
4.根据权利要求1的电视节目选择系统，其特征在于所述关键帧图像(15’)至少包括一个原声摘要播出和/或一个文字信息(15)。
5.根据权利要求3的电视节目选择系统，其特征在于所述突出的关键帧图像(15’)最能表示节目的主题。
6.从多个电视节目中选择喜欢的电视节目的方法，包括步骤：
a)从一个文字说明的节目显示(10)中选择一个特定节目；和
b)以关键帧图像(15’)序列的形式显示所述特定节目。
7.根据权利要求6的选择喜爱电视节目的方法，其特征在于根据步骤(b)的所述关键帧图像(15’)的显示根据所述特定节目的故事线索或进程顺序显示，并且至少一个关键帧图像(15’)被突出显示。
8.根据权利要求6的电视节目选择方法，其特征在于所述关键帧图像(15’)包括至少一个原声摘要播出和/或一个文字信息。
9.根据权利要求7的电视节目选择方法，其特征在于所述至少一个突出显示的关键帧(15’)最能表示节目的主题。
10.一个电视节目选择系统，包括一个被分成特定时间和频道长条的电视节目表格(10)，所述表格显示由电视观众选择的每个电视节目的关键帧图像(15’)。
11.根据权利要求10的电视节目选择系统，其特征在于每个被选电视节目包括一个原声摘要播出。
12.根据权利要求10的电视节目选择系统，其特征在于所述表格(10)显示每一节目的关键帧图像(15’)序列，并且其中根据该特定节目的进程显示所述序列。
