Abstract
一种基于处理器的系统(10),包括没有键盘的系统,可以在引导之前接收用户输入。这可以利用图形控制器(12)产生允许用户输入信息的窗口(68)来实现。然后,该系统(10)固件可以对任何用户输入例如密码进行比较,并且可以确定是否实际地启动系统引导。
Description
背景
本发明通常涉及基于处理器的系统,尤其是涉及在那些系统中提供用户输入的技术。
许多基于处理器的系统,例如Web图形输入板,并不包括键盘。例如,许多设备使用触摸屏、鼠标或笔作为输入设备,避免了占用更多空间的键盘的需要。然而,这些输入设备中,通常每一个都需要一种操作系统,以便接收用户输入。
在某些情况下,无法在引导操作系统之前提供输入可能会产生一个问题。例如,可能希望要求用户在实际引导操作系统之前输入密码。一旦操作系统被引导,用户就更能够攻击该系统,从而在没有密码的情况下得以访问。因此,在引导该系统之前要求输入密码或其它识别码可能更有好处。
作为另一实施例,用户可能希望在实际引导该系统之前向系统提供某种信息,例如硬件设置。换言之,可能希望在没有要求操作系统被引导的情况下,能够输入设置信息。机器设置信息的例子可以是将该系统从通用串行总线(USB)转换到PS-2系统,以便提供不同的图形,或者提供不同的硬件驱动。
当然,在没有键盘的系统中,无法在操作系统被引导的时间之前提供信息。在操作系统引导之前或者在预引导阶段,由于输入设备要求使用操作系统的功能,所以输入设备是不能用的。
因此,需要一种方式,用于在引导阶段之前接收基于处理器的系统中的输入。

具体实施方式
参见图1,基于处理器的系统10可包括机箱66和显示器16。在一个实施例中,显示器16可以是液晶显示器,并且基于处理器的系统10可以是电池供电。系统10可不包括键盘。取而代之地,系统10可以使用触摸屏、笔或鼠标之类的输入设备。本文的输入可能在引导操作系统之前用包括在图形用户接口68中的屏幕键盘图像输入。
系统10的例子包括个人数字助理、相机之类的应用以及Web图形输入板。通过去除键盘,这些设备可以更加便携并且重量上相对更轻。
参见图1,当用户操作系统操作开始按钮14时,出现图形用户接口68,该图形用户接口68包括输入密码的提示和屏幕键盘。这可能在操作系统被引导之前已经完成。取而代之地,接口68可以从存储器中检索到,并且通过打开一个窗口进行显示。
在一个实施例中,当用户输入正确的密码时,按照由图形控制器中运行的引导代码所确定的,操作系统的引导可以被初始化。在其它实施例中,机器设置或其它识别码的输入可以置于预引导阶段。
转至图2,系统10可包括处理器42,通过接口44与图形控制器12相耦合。主存储器46可以被耦合到接口44中,也可以是总线18。图形控制器42可以接收来自用户输入设备14的输入,该用户输入设备14例如鼠标、笔或触摸屏显示器。媒体控制输入22可以被图像叠加产生器30接收。图像叠加产生器30实际上产生接口68。接口36提供产生器30与用户接口14之间的接口。
主机总线接口24可以通过接口44耦合到处理器42和主存储器46。存储器控制接口26可以将接口24耦合到可选(option)存储器20,例如可选只读存储器(ROM)。此外,可以提供数字信号处理器(DSP)32和图形图像存储器34。图形图像存储器34存储图像,该图像可以从可选存储器20中提供,以便产生接口68,并且最后将接口68显示在显示器16上。因此,图形接口存储器34可以是帧缓冲器,或者其它能够存储图像以用于显示在显示器16上的存储器。3D图形协处理器28可以被用于3D插值应用。还可以提供时钟同步器38和电源管理控制器40。
在一个实施例中,设置软件50可以被存储在可选存储器20中,用于在预引导阶段过程中实际地启动接口68的产生。因此,在预引导阶段过程中,设置软件50可以从载入来自可选存储器的代码的图形控制器中运行,或者从其它任何可操作的软件中运行。
参见图3,当检测到用户激活时,如块52中所示,产生接口68,如块54中所示。用户激活可以是按钮14的操作,表示用户想要初始化该系统。一旦产生接口68,就可以通过接口68接收用户输入,例如密码,如块56中所示。该密码输入可以是存储在可选存储器20中的引导代码的一部分,如块58中所示。然后,将该输入与获取对系统10的访问所必须的已存储的密码进行比较,如块60中所示。在菱形62中,如果图形控制器引导代码确定存在密码匹配,则可以按照本发明的一个实施例开始引导操作,如块64中所示。
因此,在某些实施例中,甚至在没有键盘的系统中,图形用户接口68可以在系统引导之前产生,并且这个接口68可以接收用户输入,以便,例如,对用户进行身份鉴别,并且能够使引导发生。这可以产生比采用引导先于用户身份鉴别的系统更安全的系统。在其它实施例中,在有效用户输入设备可操作之前,机器设置或其它识别码可以在预引导阶段被更有利地接收。在某些实施例中,不需要可操作的硬盘或软盘驱动就可以开始使用该系统。

Claims (25)
1.一种方法,包括:
检测用户输入;
响应于用户输入的检测,在操作系统被引导之前产生图形用户接口;
通过所述图形用户接口接收来自用户的输入;以及
引导该操作系统。
2.根据权利要求1的方法,其中检测用户输入包括检测按钮的操作。
3.根据权利要求1的方法,其中产生图形用户接口包括利用图形控制器产生图形用户接口。
4.根据权利要求3的方法,包括将用于产生所述图形用户接口的信息存储在可选存储器上。
5.根据权利要求1的方法,包括使用在图形控制器上运行的引导代码,以产生图形用户接口。
6.根据权利要求1的方法,其中产生图形用户接口包括产生图形用户接口以使用户输入密码。
7.根据权利要求6的方法,其中产生图形用户接口包括产生屏幕键盘。
8.根据权利要求1的方法,包括在没有键盘的情况下,通过图形用户接口接收来自用户的输入。
9.根据权利要求1的方法,包括对用户进行身份鉴别,并且如果用户已经通过身份鉴别,则允许对操作系统进行引导。
10.根据权利要求9的方法,包括接收在没有键盘的情况下利用图形用户接口输入的密码。
11.一种产品,包括媒体,该媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统执行以下步骤的指令:
检测用户输入;
在操作系统被引导之前产生图形用户接口;
通过所述图形用户接口接收来自用户的输入;以及
引导操作系统。
12.根据权利要求11的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统检测按钮的操作的指令。
13.根据权利要求11的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统利用图形控制器产生图形用户接口的指令。
14.根据权利要求13的产品,其中所述媒体在可选存储器上存储能够使基于处理器的系统产生所述图形用户接口的指令。
15.根据权利要求11的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统使用在图形控制器上运行的引导代码产生该图形用户接口的指令。
16.根据权利要求11的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统产生图形用户接口以使用户输入密码的指令。
17.根据权利要求16的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统产生屏幕键盘的指令。
18.根据权利要求11的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统在没有键盘的情况下通过图形用户接口接收来自用户的输入的指令。
19.根据权利要求11的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统对用户进行身份鉴别并且如果用户已经通过身份鉴别则允许对操作系统进行引导的指令。
20.根据权利要求19的产品,其中所述媒体存储能够使基于处理器的系统接收在没有键盘的情况下利用图形用户接口输入的密码的指令。
21.一种系统,包括:
处理器;
被耦合到所述处理器的存储器;以及
图形控制器,被耦合到所述存储器,用于在操作系统被引导之前,产生图形用户接口。
22.根据权利要求21的系统,其中所述系统不包括键盘。
23.根据权利要求21的系统,包括触摸屏显示器。
24.根据权利要求21的系统,其中所述存储器存储能够使处理器执行以下步骤的指令:在操作系统被引导之前,当通过图形用户接口接收到用户输入时,自动引导该操作系统。
25.根据权利要求21的系统,包括可选只读存储器,用于在引导操作系统之前存储产生用于输入密码的图形用户接口的信息。
