Abstract

A spray head for a faucet or the like has a wand body defining a flow path from an inlet to first and second outlets. Diverter seats are provided so a face seal on a diverter spool can direct flow to the first or second outlet. The spool is positioned by a trigger acting on cam surfaces formed on a toggle. A spring biases the toggle to one of two stable states. Movement of the spool by the trigger causes the toggle to change states so subsequent actuation of the trigger causes the spool to move in the opposite direction. The wand body also has a pause button that reciprocates in a chamber that is part of the flow path. The chamber includes a valve seat and the pause button has a spool having a face seal that is engageable with the valve seat to shut off flow through the spray head. A return spring causes separation of the pause button's face seal upon release of pressure on the pause button. The pause button's seals in the chamber are arranged to have equal diameters and thus provide balanced hydraulic forces on the spool.

This external module surrounds a body of rod 50.Accompanying drawing 4-10 has represented the details of this body of rod. This body of rod has the diapire 52 of an arch, and it is connected with two upright, flat sidewall 53,54.This sidewall has outstanding fin 55, and it engages with maintenance groove in the trigger cover 38 so that cover body is kept in position. One base plate 56 extends between the base of two side.Like this, this base plate 56 has just constituted a string of crossing arch diapire 52, preferably referring to accompanying drawing 10.This diapire and base plate have been determined a main flow path 58 together.Side wall ends is connected by front and back cross wall 60,62.Rear cross wall 62 has a depression 63 that just in time is molded over the base plate top. This antetheca has a through hole 64 that is limited by sleeve pipe 66.This sleeve pipe forward or distal portion define one first current divider seat 68.Also have two extend laterally, hollow male members 69 (accompanying drawing 9) on the distal face of antetheca 60.Has the bypass passage 71 that links with hole 64 fluids in these male members. This bypass passage has opening at the base side mask, and the mark 70 in the accompanying drawing 5 has just shown one of them. The V-shaped groove mouth 72 of cutting links in the screw thread 74 on this opening 70 and threaded ring exit wall 76 outsides. This exit wall and preceding cross wall 60 and arch diapire 52 combine, and probably are positioned at the position of an O V-shaped ring 78.
Near-end at the body of rod has a threaded annular input wall 80 to define an inlet 82.Flexible pipe can be connected to this inlet wall. This inlet wall is surrounded by a thread jacket pipe 83 that is used for connecting-rod body ring 40.This inlet wall 80 preferably can hold a flap valve 84 and a screen cloth packing ring (screen washer) 86 (accompanying drawing 3).This inlet wall 80 and diapire 52, sidewall 53,54 and upright inwall 88 merge into a single whole (accompanying drawing 8).The proximal end face of these walls and rear cross wall 62 has determined that is suspended a chamber 90.This time-out chamber has overall axis perpendicular to the body of rod 50 axis. This time-out chamber is holding a pause button, and is as mentioned below. One round ring seat 92 is molded over and forms in the wall that suspends the chamber. This inwall 88 has a port 94, and passing it can provide from entering the mouth 82 to the fluid connection that suspends chamber 90.With explanation is that this time-out chamber also links with flow path 58 and becomes the part of main flow path.
Referring to the far-end of accompanying drawing 3 and drencher head 18, the inner surface of exit wall 76 has a nip 95 once more, and a lifting valve base 96 wherein is installed. This annular element has a central opening 97.This V-arrangement opening 97 provides second outlet of a body, and first outlet is exactly a side opening 70.One second current divider seat 98 is molded on the inner surface of lifting valve base 98.O shape ring 100 is placed present 98 periphery, leans against on the inner surface of bottom cutting portion of exit wall to seal.
A spray former 102 is connected on the exit wall 76.This spray former has an outer ring skirt section 104 that has an internal thread that engages with screw thread 74.To show in the accompanying drawing 18 that this skirt section engages so that keep this head part to lean against body of rod master with a lip of body of rod head part 42 inside covers on 36.The junction surface of skirt section 104 and this body of rod is by 78 sealings of O shape ring. One radial end face 106 extends to one from outer skirt 104 and is connected to this end face so that the interior annulus 108 concentric with the skirt section.Between interior annulus 108 and outer skirt 104 gap is arranged, it passes end face 106 and links with many little independent delivery outlets 110.These openings have produced the spray model of drencher head 18.
The inside of annulus is equipped with an aerating device 112 in being somebody's turn to do.One face seal 114 is placed between the distal radial surface of aerating device 112 and lifting valve base 96.The sealing part has prevented the leakage from lifting valve base split shed 97 to the gap location between ring 108 and the outer skirt 104 in the spray former.Like this, when this drencher head is in when shoving pattern, water just can not flow to spray model opening 110.Volute spring 116 leans against on the end face 106 of spray former around this aerating device and bottom with large end face. The opening 97 that this volute spring is passed in the lifting valve base 96 extends, and is so that engage with the current divider valve rod, as mentioned below.
The body of rod 50 comprises a cavity of being determined by sidewall 53,54, base plate 56 and cross wall 62,64.This cavity and flow path are isolated fully.Shown in accompanying drawing 18-20, be provided with trigger cover, spring and diverter assembly in this cavity. This diverter assembly comprises a valve rod 118, and it is slidably mounted in sleeve pipe 66 and the depression 63.This valve rod is carrying a cubic cup seal (quad cup seal) 120 and one face seal (face seal) 122.This face seal can engage with the first current divider seat 68 and the second current divider seat 98.The other end of valve rod has one and is horizontally through the pin 124 that valve rod extends. This pin is mounted to valve rod with a toggle 126 pivotly. This toggle is a wedge in the present embodiment.
Accompanying drawing 13-15 has represented the details of toggle wedge 126.This wedge has the two groups of cam surfaces 128,129 that separated by core 130.Two rings 131 below cam surface have can make ring fully around the hole of pin 124.Has the groove 133 that wherein can partly hold pin at the cam surface downside. In the end-view of wedge, cam surface 128,129 presents triangle, has relative sharp-pointed following corner at far-end corner 132 with near-end corner 134 places.
One trigger spring 136 also is installed in the body of rod chamber.Shown in accompanying drawing 11 and 12, this spring has two spindlelegs portions 138, and the one end interconnects by a upright drop handle 140, and the other end interconnects by the horn shape part 142 of a U-shaped simultaneously. This drop handle 140 is on depression 63 when horn shape partly is assemblied on the valve rod 118.This shank 138 has notch 144, and it is bonded on extension 145 (accompanying drawing 4 and 8) on the inner surface of sidewall 53,54 so that the lengthwise position of trigger spring is fixed in the body of rod chamber. This base plate 56 has the protuberance 147 (accompanying drawing 4 and 8) of the wedge shape of a contiguous extension 145.This protuberance 147 engages and plays the balance pivot effect with the shank downside of close notch 144.When trigger is positioned at common position, it presses down on horn shape part 142 away from this balance pivot, consequently, the shank of the near-end of balance pivot part (approximately from notch 144 to drop handle 140) is spaced apart and is placed on the base plate top, and is actually and is cantilever-shaped from balance pivot and stretches out. These are preferably referring to accompanying drawing 17.This shank also has depression or chase 146, and it generally is set near toggle wedge 126 places.Being designed and sized to of this wedge can align it with a wedge corner. The pair of cams corner will engage with shank this moment, and another will be broken away from from spring shank 138 the cam bight. This will cause that the toggle wedge overturns back and forth, as hereinafter will further narrating.
Mark 148 expression triggers. It is pivotably mounted on the body of rod by the minor axis in the slit that extends in the sidewall 54 150.Mark 152 has shown one of them slit. This trigger comprises a button 154 that is arranged on trigger dome 46 belows in the trigger cover 38.The finger 156 that two intervals are arranged below this button. Each finger can engage with one of cam surface 128,129.This trigger body relies on the horn shape part 142 of trigger spring, and by this horn shape biasing upwards partly. On the contrary, this horn shape partly is pressed downward, and the result made shank become cantilever as described in just now.
Refer now to pause button, its structure is preferably referring to the mark in accompanying drawing 3 and 21 158.This pause button comprises that is suspended a valve rod 160.This valve rod has series of flanges, has constituted upper, middle and lower recess 162,164,166.This upper and lower recess holds a cubic cup seal 168, and middle recess holds a face seal 170.The bottom of this valve rod 160 has a hole 172, wherein is equipped with a spring 174.Spring bottom is by on opening 175 (accompanying drawing 7) and the diapire that atmosphere communicates.Similarly, also ventilated in the top in this valve rod chamber, so that any side at it does not all form any air pressure when valve rod moves up and down. One time-out valve rod guide 176 leans against to suspend in 90 upper ends, chamber and by O shape ring 178 and seals. One flange 180 on the valve rod guide engages with activation with the top flange of upper notch 162 and limits the motion that this time-out valve rod 160 makes progress. This suspends valve rod guide 176 by 182 maintenances of the backstop of U-shaped folder, and this backstop folder passes the slit 183 (accompanying drawing 8) that suspends in the wall of chamber and slides. The overhead guard 184 of one flexibility is arranged on the downside of the time-out dome 48 of valve rod 160 tops and trigger cover 38.
The flange outer sides diameter of recess 162,166 is the same basically up and down. This is very important for the uniform balance that keeps time-out valve rod 160 hydraulic actions.Unique out-of-balance force is exactly the active force that is applied by spring 174 and user on this valve rod.Face seal 170 need be bigger so that make it to engage with seat 92 than cubic cup seal size simultaneously. When time-out valve rod that needs will have a bigger central seal be inserted into one its just can produce packing problem when being designed and sized in the chamber that will engage with two less cubic cup seals in the both sides of big seal. This time-out valve rod guide has solved this problem. The top in this time-out chamber is strengthened so that allow face seal 170 to pass through. Then suspending the valve rod guide has filled additional space cubic cup seal has been identical size so that make up and down.If valve rod guide and valve rod become an integral body, then going up seal will have bigger zone than lower seal, and be applied to hydraulic coupling on this valve rod with unbalanced. This independent time-out valve rod guide has solved this problem, has also solved packing problem simultaneously.
Hereinafter will narrate use, operation and the function of the foregoing description.See pause button first.Accompanying drawing 21 has been represented the nominal situation of pause button 158.Spring 174 impels valve rod 160 upwards so that face seal 170 is isolated with valve seat 92.Water can 82 enter through port 94 and to suspend chamber 90 from entering the mouth, and crosses valve seat 92 and enters main flow path 58.On the core of valve rod, present hydraulic pressure.Because it is equal that seal 168 has, or almost equal pressure area, so the hydraulic coupling on valve rod is a balance. This allows just no matter which kind of situation hydraulic pressure is, back-moving spring 174 all promotes valve rod to open position. When a user wishes to turn off at once current, he can press and suspend dome 48, makes valve rod 160 move down and make face seal 170 to engage with valve seat 92.These situations have been illustrated in the accompanying drawing 20.But current can enter the top of suspending the chamber its valve seat 92 of can not flowing through. As long as the user pins pause button 158 current and will close. When the user decontrols pause button, spring 174 can promote the valve rod 160 that can remove face seal from valve seat 92 again, and allows water to flow into main flow path 58 again.
Come now operation, be described according to normal, the enable possition of pause button referring to diverter assembly.Conversion between two kinds of current transport models of this current divider control.Though also other pattern can be arranged, in this example for shoving and spraying two kinds of patterns. This current divider is started working from its home position as shown in Figure 19.Here these valve rod 118 withdrawals, thus this face seal 122 is engaged with the first current divider seat 68.So just, cut off the current that enter sleeve pipe 66, be prevented from so enter the current of bypass passage opening 70.All current are guided out through lifting valve base opening 97, enter and then flow out aerating device 112 again. The pattern of shoving that Here it is.The toggle wedge turns forward simultaneously, that is to say, towards the far-end of drencher head. This is because spring shank 138 contacts with near-end wedge corner 134, and far-end wedge corner is arranged in chase 146 and does not therefore support to a great extent.Spring shank 138 in the case promotes this wedge counterclockwise, as shown in Figure 17.The finger 156 of trigger 148 leans against on the proximal end face of cam surface 128,129.
When the user by pressing trigger dome 46 during actuating trigger, this trigger clockwise rotates (referring to accompanying drawing 17) around minor axis 150.Finger 156 moving downward on cam surface caused wedge and valve rod 118 to front slide. When valve rod is carrying the toggle wedge when moving with it, it is static that trigger spring 136 keeps in the vertical. When wedge moves forward, along with far-end wedge corner 132 be lifted to chase 146 outsides and shank 138 above these spring shanks be bent downwardly.Simultaneously near-end wedge corner 134 outwards shifts out and the engaging and align with chase of shank. When trigger was released, this shank just impelled this far-end wedge corner to turn clockwise around toggle wedge 126 like this. The top of wedge aligns towards the rear inclination of drencher head and the distal surface and the trigger finger of cam surface now.
Along with wedge is moved, this valve rod 118 is carrying face seal 122 and is entering with the second current divider seat 98 on lifting valve base 96 and engage, as shown in Figure 18.Here it is spray model. The current that pass valve seat 96 are stopped by the joint of the face seal 122 and the second current divider seat 98.Yet valve rod moving from the first current divider seat 68 forward removed face seal so that water can flow in the bypass passage 71 sleeve pipe 66 and the male member 69 and opening 70 therefrom flows out.Water can continue to flow to the outer skirt 104 of spray shaping device and the gap location between the interior ring 108 through V-shaped groove mouth 72 therefrom.Current finally flow out from many delivery outlets 110 in spray model.
Next actuating trigger can make valve rod 118 move backward.122 of face seal will break away from the second current divider seat 98 and engage with the first current divider seat 68 again. This valve rod will drive near-end wedge corner 134 and deviate to the top of shank 138 from spring chase 146 simultaneously.Far-end wedge corner 132 can align with this chase simultaneously.Far-end wedge corner when this moment does not have when supported, and this shank will make chase overturn counterclockwise, so that the top of wedge turns forward again, makes valve rod prepare to activate the opposite pattern that transforms to according to the next one of trigger.Say that like this spring leg 138 and chase 146 can be considered to a kind of upper central spring.Mobile this wedge corner makes it align with chase or therefrom comes out, and is actually to move them and make the state of toggle change on the center of spring.
Can see in accompanying drawing 18,19 what state the device that no matter is triggered places, the hydraulic pressure in the main flow path will keep valve rod.Yet no matter be eliminated when hydraulic pressure, be by activating pause button or turn off mixing valve 14, and this volute spring 116 all will make valve rod 118 withdrawals.Select volute spring to make it be not sufficient to overcome hydraulic pressure, but when not having hydraulic pressure, it can order about valve rod to its home position.
Mark 186 among the accompanying drawing 22-24 has shown the variant embodiment of a drencher head. This embodiment has used some assemblies identical with aforementioned functional, but it is in some difference in shape. They comprise that one has cavity 190, the main flow path 192 of cavity below and the body of rod 188 of the first current divider seat 194.One second current divider seat 196 is molded in the spray shaping device 202.One body of rod cover 197 surrounds the body of rod 188.One first water stream channel that is used to the pattern of shoving passes an aerating device 198 and extends.Mark 200 in the accompanying drawing 23 has shown the one second branch road water stream channel that is used to the pattern of shoving. Also be provided with a spray shaping device 202 that has an O shape ring 204.This drencher head has the trigger mechanism of a two-piece type, comprises a trigger button 206 and a trigger bar 208.One valve rod driver 210 has first and second cam surfaces 212 and 214.This valve rod driver 210 is by guiding in the passage 216 that is formed in the base plate of cavity 190.This pattern realizes that by the elbow action trigger button 206 is depressed and trigger bar 208 is shifted onto above one of valve rod driver cam surface 212,214.This valve rod driver is connected to the end of valve rod 218 in a kind of rotatable mode.Embodiment as shown in accompanying drawing 3, this valve rod 218 have a flexible face seal 220, and it alternately engages with one of first and second current divider seats 194,196.This face seal 220 has been closed a flow path through aerating device 198 when engaging with the second current divider seat 196, and has just closed another flow path 200 when engaging with the first current divider seat 194.As mentioned above, valve rod driver 210 has two cam faces 212,214, one is impelled trigger action so that move this valve rod driver and make valve rod enter a spray position, and another impels trigger action so that mobile valve rod driver and make valve rod enter the mode position of shoving.Once have only a cam face to aim at trigger mechanism. This aligning is finished by formed channel 216, and the latter suitably leads this valve rod driver cam surface and locatees, and it is used to make mechanism to get back to the pattern of shoving when being in spray model, and is used to make mechanism to turn back to spray model when being in when shoving pattern. In order suitably cam surface to be positioned, the trigger bar can freely be rotated, from a side to opposite side so that it can keep in touch with cam surface when the valve rod driver passes formed channel and moves.
In the present embodiment, when trigger bar 208 has been pushed into the valve rod driver after one new model position and this trigger button 206 be released, it must be centrally located in it on ready position.Implementation method is exactly to be provided with in the both sides of this trigger bar it to be pushed back to cantilever or the leaf spring that does not have the center of other power effect on it.Another method that can set this trigger bar center is trigger device to be constrained in the middle of the trigger button its bottom pivoting portions moulding.By this way, when trigger button be released and the trigger bar to when revolution, it can be forced to carry out centralized positioning.
Although above the optimum embodiment of the present invention is described, should understand it can have many modifications, replacement and modification. For example, it can have the current output mode more than two.Preferably, indicate a kind of default mode, no matter when as long as current are cut off this current divider and just take this pattern. This makes the user can expect the water flow mode after current reclose.Or this drencher head does not have default mode, so that is in what pattern when no matter current are cut off, and also remains this pattern when current reclose. In the middle of this optimum embodiment, have a default mode and be the pattern of shoving.
