4、最佳实施例的详细说明

图1示出了根据本发明的EPG能够运行的系统。该系统包括显示器101，处理器102，存储器103，键盘104，遥控器105和网络连接106。显示器可能是任意的传统显示器，比如电视机或计算机监视器，并可以由平板显示、CRT或任何其它技术构成。处理器102可以与显示器101放在同一个机壳中，或置于显示器的外部，并可以是多用途处理器，比如在个人计算机(PC)中找到的处理器或任何其它的处理器。处理器102可以随意地经网络连接与显示器101连接。处理器102可以引起显示器101显示图形用户界面(“GUI”)或任何其它类型界面。存储器103可以是任意类型的，比如磁性的、电子的或光学的，并可以与显示器101和/或处理器102放置在同一机壳内。存储器可以随意地经网络连接与处理器102连接。可以有另外的用户输入设备，比如鼠标、操纵杆或跟踪球。可以有另外的用户输出设备，比如打印机108或扬声器107，它可以另外通过显示单元被连接。示出的任意连接可以是有线的或无线的。用户输入设备，包括104和105可以另外直接连接到处理器102。图1的系统可以是具有或没有与互联网连接的设备的电视机。图1的系统可以是PC。
图2示出了用于更新用户简档的程序流程图。该流程图示出了与本发明相关的特定步骤。但是，本领域普通技术人员可以想出包含在更新简档中的很多其它步骤，这些步骤与本发明不相关，因此为了简洁没有示出。该历史保存关于用户观看过的节目数据。在步骤201，演出进入观看历史。这可能因为观众已经浏览了整个演出，或因为观众已经观看过该演出，或因为该演出已经由推荐器推荐，或因为用户人工向推荐器输入数据而发生。在步骤203，测试演出是否实际被观看。这可能包含应用某种关于演出观看的时间长度的阈值-如果推荐器自动监控观众的使用-或直接询问用户是否观看过该演出。如果演出被观看过，对于该演出的情节标志和数据将被存储在用户简档中。例如在由论坛媒体服务提供的EPG数据中，可容易地获得情节标志。用户简档与观看历史不同，其中历史是原始数据，而简档已经经过一些处理。例如，简档可以有累积的数据。在步骤204，关于演出的特征用正的指示加入到简档中。如果演出还没有被观看，关于演出的特征将用负的指示加入到简档中。
具有特征和负或正指示的简档的建立在2/4/00申请的(US000018)美国专利申请序列号NO.09/498271中示出。但是，标记用来观看的特定节目的概念延伸到节目指南或节目推荐的保持的其它技术。
图3示出了关于推荐器操作的流程图。在给定期间，推荐器在所有演出上操作。在步骤301，测试是否有任何其它的演出需要推荐。如果是这样，在步骤302，计算关于那个演出的推荐。在步骤302，测试该演出的情节ID是否与简档中的任何一个匹配。如果是这样，在步骤304，演出被标记为先前看过的演出，然后检索出另一个演出用于推荐。
在步骤305，演出加入到EPG。典型地，该演出将显示在具有当日的时间沿一个轴而频道号沿另一个轴的网格或类似格式的表格中，并且每个演出将在网格或表格中占一个长方形。然而，本领域普通技术人员可以想出任意数量的显示EPG的方法。关于演出的推荐可以在网格中用颜色或数码表示。数码可以是百分数的形式，100％是最高可能的推荐。演出已经被观看的指示也可以是颜色或数码。另外，推荐可以用与已经看过的演出相邻的标记以希望值的顺序表示为演出列表。
如果已经被观看过的演出恰好符合用户简档，则它可能仍然被推荐。一些用户希望对同样的内容欣赏一次以上，而其他用户不希望这样。例如，一个演出可能被颜色编码为绿色表示强烈推荐，条状或点状阴影覆盖其上表示该演出已经被观看过。这里使用的术语“颜色编码”应当包括各种类型的阴影，比如条状或点状。
另外，可以有从EPG输出中删除所有已经观看过的演出的选项。
推荐可以在显示器上显示、打印出来、在扬声器上播出或以任何其它适当的方式传播。
通过读本说明书，对本领域人员来说其它的变形将很显然。这样的变形可以包含EPG的设计、生产和使用中已经公知的其它特征，这些特征可以用来替换或附加到这里已经描述过的特征中。尽管权利要求已经在本申请中阐明了特定特征的组合，应当理解，本发明的公开范围也包含任何新特征或这里明确或隐含公开的特征的新组合或任何概括，无论是否缓解了任何或所有与本发明相同的技术问题。从而本申请给出了提示，即在本申请进行期间，新的 可能对这样的特征制定出来或从中衍生出进一步的申请。

Claims (21)

1.一种用于提供电子节目指南的装置，包括处理器(102)，用于根据用户历史保存用户简档，用户简档包括至少一个已经由用户观看过的一条内容的指示；和用户传送装置(101，108，107)，用于向用户提供电子节目指南，包括作为对用户的告警信息的至少一个指示。
2.权利要求1的装置，还包括推荐器(302，304)，用于提供关于节目的推荐，其中推荐的形式包括至少一个指示(304)的形式。
3.权利要求2的装置，其中至少一个指示包括从电子节目指南中省略已经看过的节目。
4.权利要求2的装置，其中推荐通过颜色编码提供。
5.权利要求4的装置，其中至少一个指示的形式是至少一个与推荐的其它方面的颜色编码不同的颜色编码。
6.权利要求2的装置，其中推荐的形式包括向用户传送数码。
7.权利要求1的装置，其中处理器适于使用情节标志区分已经看过的节目。
8.一种提供电子节目指南的方法，包括在至少一个数据处理装置(102)中执行如下操作：
根据用户历史保存用户简档，用户简档包括至少一个已经由用户观看过的一条内容的指示；和
向用户传送电子节目指南，包括作为对用户的告警信息的至少一个指示。
9.权利要求8的方法，还包括在至少一个数据处理装置中执行下列操作：提供关于节目的推荐，其中推荐的形式包括至少一个指示(304)的形式。
10.权利要求9的方法，其中至少一个指示包括从电子节目指南中省略已经看过的节目。
11.权利要求9的方法，其中推荐通过颜色编码提供。
12.权利要求11的方法，其中至少一个指示的形式是至少一个与推荐的其它方面的颜色编码不同的颜色编码。
