技术领域：
本发明涉及一种操作用于广播应用的条件选取(conditional access)系统的方法，所述条件选取系统包括多个用户，每个用户具有一个终端，该终端包括一个条件接入模块和一个用于存储授权的安全设备，每个授权表明一种服务(节目)，收到该授权的用户被授权观看该服务，其中授权管理消息(EMM’s)被发送到一个安全设备或一组安全设备，每个所述EMM’s都提供一个授权和一个对应的截止日期，其中所述授权根据其截止日期通过发送更新截止日期的EMM’s被周期性地刷新。
背景技术：
一种已知的这种方法例如被用于一种付费电视广播系统。如果在截止日期前未收到更新或刷新EMM’s，则安全设备将不允许接入安全设备被授权的该项服务或各项服务。用户经常断开其终端设备或将其终端调换到一个不加载EMM’s的广播信号。在这种情况下，在截止日期前将不能及时地接收到刷新EMM。这样用户就将被迫等待用无线电授权。考虑到条件选取系统中的带宽制约和授权数目及用户数，等候时间可能很长。比较典型的情况是，如果一个用户需要等候的时间超过大约30秒，那么他就会联络用户管理中心要求重新授权。其结果是每次授权异常终止时需要处理大量的电话。因而导致运行成本增加。为了改善实现所有用户的刷新所需的时间，开发出了诸如成组访问(group addressing)技术。尽管如此，在用户量很大的情况下，仍会出现等候时间长的问题。这些由于EMM信息的带宽限制所导致的问题使得这种使用肯定授权(positive authorization)的条件选取系统在用户量很大时难以运行。
发明内容：
本发明的目的在于提供一种上述类型的方法，其中等候时间长的问题可以避免。
根据本发明提供了一种上述类型的方法，其特征在于向所有安全设备的至少一部分发送一组扩展授权(extension entitlement)管理消息(扩展EMM’s)，每个消息表示在一个预定的第一周期内所有具有一个截止日期的授权被扩展一个预定的第二周期，其中刷新截止日期的EMM’s在扩展EMM’s之后被发送。
由此得到，在所述第一周期内所有安全设备的至少一部分的所有授权通过在第一周期内发送扩展EMM’s来扩展，由此在第二周期内扩展所述授权。在发送这些扩展EMM’s后，就可以发送常规的更新或刷新EMM’s以便分别更新每个用户的授权。

下面将参照附图进一步介绍本发明，该图示出了实现本发明所述方法的一个实施例的广播应用。
在所示广播应用中，三个广播设备1-3耦接到一个多路转换器单元4，该多路转换器单元包括加扰、编码和压缩由所述广播设备1-3提供的信号的装置。由此得到的数字数据流经多路转换成一个数字传输流，例如按照MPEG-2标准。如本实施例所示该数字传输流在传输前由一个调制器5调制。包括多路转换器单元4和调制器5的设备的操作者负责将所述信号传输至公众的接收设备，例如以例示的方式示出的一台电视机6。所述信号的传输可能经由一个或多个远程通信信道进行，该信道包括一个卫星链路7，地面链路8或一个电缆系统9。广播设备1-3中的一个或多个可能是按照付费电视的概念运作的私营广播机构，这意味要订阅。也就是说想收看由特殊广播机构播送的节目的人必须得订阅这种广播并支付适当的费用。
访问任何由所述广播设备1-3提供的广播信号需要一个用于订阅需求服务的终端10，该终端包括一个条件选取模块11和一个安全设备12，该安全设备通常为一个可与所述条件选取模块11相连的智能卡。终端10的剩余部分众所周知，故不再详细描述。
关于需要订阅的条件选取服务，已知需要发送授权管理消息或EMM’s和授权控制消息或ECM’s给用户，即给所述智能卡12。
要指出的是本说明书中的术语“服务”是指需要授权的任何类型的节目，包括一个频道，一个特定事件或任何其它感兴趣的东西。
在这样的一个条件选取系统中，一般使用肯定授权机制来控制授权。利用单一访问或成组访问向一个或一组智能卡发送一个EMM，该EMM表示某个智能卡被授权收看一种服务。每个用户针对不同的服务可以有多个授权。授权结构一般包括一个标识或授权号和一个授权截止日期。这个信息储存在智能卡12中。这样就避免了某些形式的海盗行为。然而，有必要发送更新截止日期的刷新EMM’s。对一个特定的授权如果在截止日期前未收到该刷新或更新EMM，则智能卡12将不允许访问相关服务。实际上，用户经常断开其终端设备或将其终端调节至一个不加载EMM’s的广播信号。在这种情况下，将无法在截止日期前及时收到刷新EMM。这可能导致用户管理中心要处理大量的用户来电从而导致运行成本增加。
即使使用成组访问技术也需要很长的时间来更新所有用户的所有授权。例如，在一个实际的广播应用中，一个条件选取系统可能包括一千万用户和120种现用的授权。以200千比特/秒的EMM’s的实际容量来说，等候一个预定服务的刷新EMM时间是2.5小时。
根据本发明，用以下方法可以防止在截止日期前因未收到刷新EMM而导致的授权截止。
利用分组访问或单一访问的方法，向智能卡12的整个基区(base)发送一组扩展授权管理消息或扩展EMM’s。每个扩展EMM向智能卡12表明，在一个预定的第一周期内，即在特定的几天内，具有某个截止日期的所有授权可以在一个预定的第二周期内保持有效。这样所有智能卡的授权将扩展至第二周期。在这样获得的周期内智能卡将允许访问储存的授权所允许的服务，并且可以向用户发送正常的更新EMM’s以便在下一个周期内以一种正常的方式更新智能卡的授权。因为扩展EMM’s访问储存在智能卡中的所有授权，所以可在一个相对短的时间内对所有智能卡进行扩展。其后将有足够的时间来更新在用户的整个基区内的所有单个的用户。
在使用成组访问的情况下，所有用户的所有授权将以所述方式被首先扩展。其后，可发送单一的刷新EMM’s，其中这些刷新EMM’s首先发送到那些已经更改其订阅的用户，例如终止或增加一顶或多顶对特定服务的订购。
也可能使用单一访问的方法来发送扩展EMM’s，其中订阅已终止的那些地址不接收该扩展EMM’s。另外还可能在该扩展EMM’s中添加单一EMM’s，其中该单一EMM’s只更新未改变的订阅的截止日期。
作为一种选择方案，一个EMM不仅可以在智能卡中储存授权截止日期，还可以在该智能卡中储存接收日期。按照上述方式，一组扩展EMM’s被发送到智能卡12的整个基区中。在这种情况下，每个扩展EMM指明一个日期，从该时起一个智能卡的授权未改变。如果对任一授权而言所述授权接收日期是在扩展EMM提供的日期之后，那么智能卡将把该任一授权的截止日期扩展为在所述预定的第二周期之前。
在所述实施例中，条件选取模块11和安全设备12是物理上分开的设备。可以理解，条件选取模块和/或安全设备也可以是终端10的一部分或者通过适当的编程由该终端10来实现。因此，在本说明书和权利要求书中所使用的特定术语“条件选取模块11”和“安全设备12”不仅局限于物理上分开的部分。
本发明并不局限于上述实施例，而是可以在权利要求的范围内有不同的变化。

Claims (5)

1.一种操作用于广播应用的条件选取系统的方法，所述条件选取系统包括多个用户，每个用户具有一个终端，该终端包括一个条件选取模块和一个用以储存授权的安全设备，每个授权表示收到该授权的用户被授权观看的服务，其中授权管理消息(EMM’s)被发送到一个安全设备或一组安全设备，每个所述EMM’s提供一个授权和一个相应的截止日期，其中所述授权根据其截止日期通过发送更新截止日期的EMM’s被周期性地刷新，其特征在于：一组扩展授权管理消息(扩展EMM’s)被发送到所有安全设备的至少一部分，每个消息表示在一个预定的第一周期内具有一个截止日期的所有授权用一个预定的第二周期来扩展，其中更新截止日期的EMM’s在扩展EMM’s之后被发送。
2.一种如权利要求的前序部分所述的操作用于广播应用的条件选取系统的方法，其特征在于：每个EMM包含一个授权截止日期和一个授权接收日期，该日期储存在安全设备中，其中一组扩展授权管理消息(扩展EMM’s)被发送给所有安全设备，每个消息表明一个给定的日期，从该时起安全设备的所有授权未经改变，其中如果任一授权的接收日期是在所述给定日期之后，则用一个预定的第二周期扩展所有授权，其中更新截止日期的EMM’s在扩展EMM’s之后被发送。
