发明背景
如上述的一种装置可从US 5,517,254中获知。已知的装置包括一个用于提供节目表的电子节目指南(EPG)。EPG作为一个时间一频道矩阵提供给观看者,每列包括在一特定日的一个特定频道表。EPG使用户能选择所希望的节目进行记录或进行备忘处理。该装置在满足一定的准则时可以自动选择节目作为一种推荐。频道可以用不同的顺序,例如按所选节目数量来提供。在一个特定的实施例中,所有选定的节目被收集到一个列中,就好像它们为一个表现专用频道而安排的那样。因此,对所选节目提供了一个快速整体概览。
发明目的和概述

一种优选实施方案应用于已广泛使用的数字视频广播(DVB)标准。这个实施方案的特征在于,播放流是一种符合数字视频广播(DVB)技术规范的流,服务规范包括DVB业务信息(SI)的业务说明表(SDT)。用把包括新服务标志和复制指针的SDT中的一个新入口插入到所选节目的方式,生成该虚拟频道。

一种实施方案的特征在于,进一步采用该虚拟频道装置,以便生成另外的用户可选择的虚拟频道。例如,一个家庭的每个成员可以有一个私人虚拟频道,并有可能用口令保护。此外,每个虚拟频道可被专用于一个特定类别的节目,例如要以是一个虚拟喜剧频道,一个虚拟体育频道等。
该发明特别适合于电视接收机、机顶盒和录像机,但也可应用于无线接收机。

实施方案描述
图1示出了作为按照本发明的一种实施方案的数字电视接收机的方框图。在射频(RF)信号上调制的数字播放流通过天线1或用另外方式从一个有线网络上从以太中接收。该播放流可以例如按照数字视频广播(DVB)标准进行格式化。调谐器2包括一个标准模拟RF接收器,它能接收所述RF信号并从中选择一个输出到解调器3。信号调谐器2的选择取决于从中央处理单元(CPU)5中接收的控制数据。解调器3根据从CPU 5中接收的信号把模拟信号转换为一个数字信息包流。然后,这个信息包流被输出到信号分离器4,该信号分离器按照从CPU 5中接收的控制数据,选择属于一个特定节目的信息包,并把该信息包流分解成初级的视频流、音频流或数据流。
在本发明的另一个实施方案中,该信息包流从解调器3直接输出到CPU 5。在此实施方案中,CPU 5执行信号分离器4的任务,因此取消了对信号分离器4的需要。
视频处理器8将从信号分离器4或CPU 5中接收的视频流解码。在本发明的优选实施方案中,视频处理器8是一种MPEG-2解码器;然而,只要解码器与视频数据编码所用的编码类型可兼容,则该解码器就可使用。然后,已解码的视频数据传送到显示器屏9。音频处理器6将从信号分离器4中接收的音频流解码。任何解码器都可使用,只要该解码器与音频数据编码所用的编码类型兼容。然后,已解码的音频数据传送到扬声器系统7。
信号分离器4把基本数据流输出到CPU 5。该基本数据流具有两种数据类型:控制数据和内容数据。内容数据涉及到例如交互式节目;控制数据涉及到多路复用中规定类似于多路复用结构的内容的表、频道调制所处的(RF)频率、以及可以找到各种内容成分和多路复用中的(其它)表的地址。CPU 5包括一个或多个能够执行在只读存储器(ROM)12中存贮的程序指令的微处理器。这些程序指令包括软件程序块的各部分,特别是包括指令模块13、EPG模块14、虚拟频道模块15和节目安排模块16。用所述软件模块处理过的数据,例如DVB-SI数据和用户身份资料信息,可存贮在非易失性存储器11中。指令模块13能够控制电视接收机的功能,比如调谐和信号分用选择,并将数据传输到视频处理器8以在屏幕9上再现。用户指令单元10例如通过遥控(未示出)接收用户指令,并把这些指令传送到指令模块13以便处理。例如,当用户写入一个频道号时,指令模块13控制该调谐器2和信号分离器4,以便选择相应的播送流和其中的数据信息包,并发送图形数据到视频处理器8,以便在屏幕9中提供反馈,即要被显示几秒钟的预置号、频道名。
数字视频记录器17由CPU 5控制,并且能够存贮和重放节目和DVB-SI数据。数字视频记录器17可内建于电视接收器中,或者是一个电视接收机控制下的分离器件。
数字播放流包括用于描述该播放流的结构和产生测览用户界面的信息。例如,DVB播放流包括节目专有信息(PSI,MPEG规范的部分)以及特别是用于节目信息解码和产生电子节目指南所必需的SI信息。DVB标准的技术规范广泛可用,并对本领域的普通技术人员来讲是已知的。此处的描述仅用作解释与本发明有相关的内容。
EPG模块14判读来自信号分离器4的DVB-SI数据,以便收集有关接收到的播送流中可用的业务的信息,以及有关对这些服务(DVB业务被视为等效于TV频道的常规概念,而DVB事件相应于TV节目)安排的事件的信息。为此,对于每个播送流,SI数据包括把服务的名和其它参数表列出的服务规范表(SDT),或对该播送流可用的频道。对每种服务,事件规范表(EIT)叙述事件的名和其它参数,或对该服务安排的频道。EPG模块14使用来自SDT和EIT的信息,以便产生一个对接收到的播送流中的频道安排的各节目的屏幕整体概览。也可使用户能选择要看的节目进行记录或用作备忘。选定节目的基准被存贮到存储器11中,可用虚拟频道模块15存取。虚拟频道模块15能够生成一个或多个虚拟频道,用来说明存贮在存储器11中上述的选定节目的特征。所述虚拟频道的生成,通过以下方式操作PSI和SI表来完成,即指令模块13和EPG模块14自动识别新频道。因此,避免了实际采用所述组块的需要。
图2示意了SDT和EIT被用于生成两个虚拟频道,并从现实频道中为新虚拟频道安排节目的方法。图2a示出了采用前的状态。SDT为播放流1列出了4种服务。对这些服务中的2种,示出了EIT部分,并对二者列出了5个事件。图2b示出了采用后的状态。两种新服务被添加到SDT,即,每个都是一个不同家庭成员的私人虚拟频道。该新业务的名称可以用虚拟频道模块15来产生,或由用户提供。对于两种新服务,生成一个新的EIT部分。该新服务EIT部分的入口,由现有的EIT部分的原始入口复制。如可见到的,在此情况中一个事件即事件24,可能在多个虚拟通道中发生。

为简单起见,至今为止只有归属于一个播放流的服务才被考虑。然而,注意到,位于多个播放流中的业务节目可以对一个单一的虚拟频道进行安排。对每个播放流,SDT包括所述虚拟频道的一个入口,而EIT包括具有要通过所述播放流进行广播的事件的部分。其它的DVB特征,束联系表(BAT)可被用于校正涉及到虚拟频道的信息的各部分。BAT给出了对成束的服务逻辑组,它可以将由不同的播放流提供的服务成组地组合起来。因为与一个虚拟频道有关的信息可以在整个SDT表上进行组织,该BAT提供了一种方便的手段,以便辅助操作,并改善性能。
因为一个虚拟频道的节目可从多个现实频道中获得,所以该虚拟频道的安排很可能在节目之间包括空隙和重叠。为了填满空隙,虚拟频道模块15能够控制调谐器2与信号分离器4以便选一个缺省频道。该缺省频道的标志存贮在存储器11中,并可由用户选择或由用户改变,其方法是借助由用户指令单元10构成的编辑装置与由虚拟频道模块15生成的屏上菜单。为了处理重叠,安排模块16保持一个用户的身份资料,以判读哪个节目可能要由用户优选,并被相应地赋与优先级。该用户身份资料可通过习性观察或明显的用户输入来规定。视视频记录器17的精细情况而定,有各种处理空隙和重叠的方案可供选用。如果视频记录器17被断开,或没有存贮能力可用,并且两个或多个节目之间出现时间冲突,则具有最高优先级的节目被选作显示。如果有存贮容量,则具有较低等级的节目被记录到视频记录器17中。安排模块16进而保持视频记录器17中可获取的节目信息数据库,即,节目题目、持续时间和节目类别。如果在虚拟频道表中遇到一个空隙,则安排模块16对所记录的长度基本上等于该空隙的节目检索该数据库。如果找到这样的节目,则对该虚拟频道安排其中之一,以填满该空隙。另外,各种已记录的较短节目被组合,以填满该空隙,或已记录的较长节目被拆为若干部分,每部分填充该虚拟频道表中一个不同的空隙,例如,在一个新闻通报的前、后。如果一个节目为了填满一个空隙刚好是太长了,则安排模块16可以控制视频记录器17,以稍高的速度重放该节目,为的是精确填满该空隙或留下一个预定长度,例如5分钟的小的暂停。类似,一个为填满一个空隙正好太短的节目可用稍低的速度重放,以便避免各节目之间长的暂停。如果视记录器17能够同时记录第一个节目并重放第二个节目,则一个播放的节目可在时间上移动,使得仅当一个被记录的节目重放已结束时它才开始。因此,安排模块16能够解决经被接收的播放流播放的节目之间的时间冲突,解决的方法是,时移该节目或插入已记录的节目。

概括地说,本发明涉及到一种用于接收来自多个频道的节目的装置,包括一个用于调谐到多个频道中任一频道的调谐器,一个用于提供节目表的电子节目指南(EPG)。该装置包括用于生成一个用户可选择的虚拟频道以便从各个现实频道中重放所选定节目的虚拟频道装置。该虚拟频道装置适用于控制该调谐器,以便调谐到一个当前正播放一个选定节目的频道。当一用户选择该虚拟频道时,该装置负责在正播放虚拟频道中看的节目的各现实频道之间的自动切换。结果,该用户可通过简单选择虚拟频道的方式观看所希望的节目。

Claims (10)

1.一种用于接收来自多个频道的节目的装置,包括:一个用于调谐到多个频道中任一频道的调谐器、和用于提供节目表的电子节目指南(EPG)装置,该EPG装置适用于当为一个专用频道进行表现安排时提供所述节目的子集表。其特征在于,该装置进而包括用于生成一个用户可选择的虚拟频道以便重放所述子集的节目的虚拟频道装置,该装置正被用来控制该调谐器,以便调谐到当前正播放所述子集的一个节目的一个频道上。
2.如权利要求1中所要求的装置,频道是一种数字播放流服务,对每种个别服务,它包括一个把服务标志与多个节目标志关联起来的服务规范,其特征在于,虚拟频道装置被用于在播放流中插入一个新的服务规范,该新的服务规范把一个新服务标志与多个识别虚拟频道节目的节目标志关联起来。
3.如权利要求2中所要求的装置,其特征在于,播放流是一种符合数字视频广播(DVB)技术规范的流,该服务规范构成DVB服务信息的服务规范表(SDT)。
4.如权利要求1到3中任一个所要求的装置,其特征在于,该装置进而包括用于把优先级分配给虚拟频道的各个节目的安排装置,用于当第一、二个节目同时播放,并且第一个节目的优先级高于第二个时,选择有利于第二个节目的第一个节目。
5.如权利要求4中所要求的装置,其特征在于,该安排装置进而被用来记录第二个节目,并为虚拟频道再安排它,以便填满在为该虚拟频道排定节目的前、后的空隙。
6.如权利要求1到5的任一个中所要求的装置,其特征在于,该虚拟频道装置被进一步采用,以便存贮一个缺省频道的标志,并在没有为该虚拟频道安排的节目时控制该调谐器以调谐到所述缺省频道。
7.如权利要求5或6中所要求的装置,其特征在于,该装置进一步包括用户可操作的编辑装置,用于编辑优先级和/或缺省频道的标志,和/或从虚拟频道中删除节目和添加节目。
8.如权利要求1到7的任一个中所要求的装置,其特征在于,该虚拟频道装置进一步被采用,以便进一步生成用户可选择的虚拟频道。
9.一种从多个频道中接收节目的方法,包括一个用于对每个频道提供一个节目表的步骤,和一个为一个专用频道进行表观安排时提供所述节目的子集表的步骤,其特征在于,该方法进而包括一个用户可选择的虚拟频道,以便重放为该虚拟频道安排的节目的步骤。
10.如权利要求9中所要求的方法,该频道是一种数字播放流的服务,它对每种个别服务包括一种把服务标志与多个节目标志关联起来的服务规范,其特征在于,该方法进而包括一个把新的服务规范插入到该播放流,把一个新的服务规范与多个识别该虚拟频道的节目的节目标志关联起来的步骤。
