背景技术
申请者在未决申请USSN 09/113,070和USSN 09/112,785中揭示了一种称为Artcard的卡片,在这种卡片中,信息以黑墨编码在所打印的卡片背面的白底上,卡片的正面载有图像。能够被记录的数据可以是以一种数字方式记录的书的内容,而卡片正面所具有的图像相当于书的书皮。
在现有技术中,为了能够同时在卡片的前面打印图像并在卡片的背面打印数字数据,需要两个打印头。为了读取卡片,必须让卡片通过一种光学扫描装置,然后容错编码的数据被重建、解码、并作为声频或视频输出提供给用户。
发明内容
本发明提供了一种用于读取数据的用户接口,所述数据采用红外墨以容错形式编码在同时载有图像的表面上。
本发明的一个目的是提供一种用于读取数据的设备,所述数据采用显隐墨以容错的数字形式打印在卡片的表面上,所述表面同时载有图像,所述设备包括:
用于以红外线扫描所述表面上的所述编码的容错数字形式的所述数据的扫描装置;
用于处理所述扫描数据并把所述数据解码为第二数字格式的装置;
用于将所述第二数字格式的所述数据输出至可使用所述第二数字格式的输出设备的装置;
所述输出设备以一种可以阅读的方式展现所述数据。
所述的显隐墨最好是一种在可见光谱中具有可忽略的吸收的红外(IR)吸收墨。
对数据进行压缩后,最好采用里德-所罗门编码处理将数据编码在卡片上。这样,即使记录数据(图像编码形式)的打印媒质有30%损坏,也可以恢复数据。所述卡片可以是例如在这里声明的共同未决申请PCT/AU01/01317(备案号:ART80)、PCT/AU01/01328(备案号:ART81)和PCT/AU01/01326(备案号:ART82)中公开的标准卡片,其具有大约为4″×6″(102mm×152mm)的照片尺寸。可以理解,根据在打印媒质上记录或要记录的数据的数据量,还可以使用其它格式的卡片,例如具有相同宽度但较短或较长。

具体实施方式
本发明的优选实施例最好通过对某种手持设备的适当编程实现,例如在申请人与本发明同时申报的专利申请PCT/AU01/01317(备案号:ART80),PCT/AU01/01328(备案号:ART81)和PCT/AU01/01326(备案号:ART82)中描述的设备,在此参考引用上述申请的内容。并且这些申请参考了本申请人以前的专利申请USSN 09/113,070和USSN09/112,785。
上述专利说明书揭示了一种包括相机系统的设备,这种相机系统在下文中称为“Artcam”型相机系统,其中传感的图像可以直接由相机单元打印出来,该照相机单元使用一喷墨页宽打印头,该打印头具有至少4个独立的喷墨嘴,用于在打印媒质上同时打印彩色图像和红外图像。一种此类的页宽打印头在申请人的共同未决专利申请PCT/AU00/00743,PCT/AU00/00744,PCT/AU00/00745,PCT/AU00/00746,PCT/AU00/00747和PCT/AU00/00748中进行了公开,在此具体参考引用其说明。
在上述参考的专利说明书中,即PCT/AU01/01317(备案号:ART80)、PCT/AU01/01328(备案号:ART81)和PCT/AU01/01326(备案号:ART82),数据采用红外墨以容错编码形式打印在彩色图像上。在这些说明书中描述的数据分别涉及存储图像本身的容错编码数字形式;图像本身的容错编码数字形式连同图像处理程序脚本一起存储,所述图像处理程序较本可以处理图像以便在图像上产生给定效果;以及存储图像本身的副本和转换后的图像的副本,所述的转换通过一个程序实现,该程序可以单独加载到相机系统中。
在本申请中,本发明是在于在图像上记录数字数据,所述数字数据与图像本身或其中的任何操作无关。例如,如申请人以前的专利申请USSN 09/113,070中的描述,可以在打印媒质的一个表面上使用一种包括书的容错数字编码形式来打印卡片,而在另一面记录一个图像,在本例中,为书的书皮。所描述的卡片的尺寸为一个信用卡的大小,即85mm×55mm左右。卡片是双面打印的。在本发明中,只需在卡片的一面上打印,其中数据是以红外墨记录的,因此肉眼无法看到。如本申请者的共同未决申请PCT/AU01/01317(备案号:ART80)、PCT/AU01/01328(备案号:ART81)和PCT/AU01/01326(备案号:ART82)中所述,一张4″×6″(102mm×152mm)左右的卡片可以容纳大约3-4M的数据,具体容量与数据的编码方式和数据在卡片表面的分布形式有关。在这些申请中,数据被以以下方式分布:使得即使卡片表面出现30%的的损坏,所编码的数据(即图像)也可以完全恢复。按存储一页文本平均需要2KB左右的数字数据(纯文本)计算,3MB数据可以记录近似1500页所写文本。一本书平均有250-550页,因此,使用本发明中揭示的格式,能够很轻易地容纳这样的一本书。另外,采用某种合适的文件格式(例如jpeg、gif、tiff、bmp等等),可以用文本来点缀图像以作为缩略图(具有减小的尺寸)图像。
优选实施例提供了对在上述专利说明书PCT/AU01/01317(备案号:ART80)、PCT/AU01/01328(备案号:ART81)和PCT/AU01/01326(备案号:ART82)中描述的特定技术的修改。其中,相机系统和打印系统被省去了,但是增加了一个大屏幕读取器。优选实施例的卡片具有一指示记录在该卡片上的信息的指示符。以容错编码形式采用红外墨将该信息打印在指示符上。例如,卡片可以包括一本书的内容或一张报纸的内容。图1中显示了这样的一个系统,其中卡片10上包含卡片上的书名,其上以红外墨打印有数据,如箭头11所示。可以把卡片10插入到读取器12中,读取器12带有一个柔性显示器13,这种显示器允许把读卡器12折叠起来。读卡器带有用于前后翻页的显示控件14以及读卡器12的其它控件。
从上述描述中我们可以看出,图1的装置提供了对书本、报纸、杂志、技术手册等形式的的信息的高效分布。
根据本公开内容,可以采用各种喷墨技术打印卡片,例如可以使用在申请者的共同未决申请PCT/AU00/00743、PCT/AU00/00744、PCT/AU00/00745、PCT/AU00/00746、PCT/AU00/00747和PCT/AU00/00748中揭示的喷墨页宽打印头。比较合适的红外墨在申请者的共同未决申请中进行了揭示,这些申请是:于2000年8月14日申报的澳大利亚临时专利申请PQ9412和PQ9376、于2000年8月18日申报的申请人的PQ9509、以及于2000年8月21日申报的PQ9571和PQ9561。可以使用在申请者的USSN 09/113,070和USSN 09/112,785或者PCT/AU01/01317(备案号:ART80)、PCT/AU01/01328(备案号:ART81)和PCT/AU01/01326(备案号:ART82)中揭示的方式或格式来对数据进行编码,例如使用Artcard格式或“另一种Artcard”格式等。其它的格式也可以使用。

Claims (4)

1.一种用于读取以显隐墨打印在卡表面上的编码数据的设备,所述表面载有图像,所述编码数据包括空间分布的冗余编码数据,使得所述数据以高容错方式被编码,特征在于所述设备包括:
a)用于扫描所述表面上的所述编码数据的扫描装置;
b)用于处理所述扫描装置扫描的编码数据并将所述数据解码为第二数字格式的装置;
c)用于向可使用所述第二数字格式的输出设备输出所述第二数字格式的装置;
d)所述输出设备以一种人可读的方式展现所述数据。
2.如权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述数据被使用里德-所罗门处理以一种容错数字形式编码,且所述处理和解码所述数据的装置包括用于处理所述里德-所罗门处理的装置。
3.如权利要求2所述的设备,其中所述输出设备包含一个显示装置。
4.如权利要求1所述的设备,其中所述的显隐墨是一种在可见光谱中具有可忽略吸收的红外吸收墨。
