Description

Double-sleeve protective clothing for motorcyclist
Technical Field
The invention relates to a pair of sleeves protective clothing for motorcyclists. In particular, the present invention relates to a double sleeve protective garment for motorcyclists having at least one pair of removable sleeves.
Background
Protective jackets with removable sleeves for motorcyclists are well known in the art. These jackets are popular because they are able to adapt to different weather conditions.
In colder weather, the protective jackets may be used in a "sleeved configuration" while in warm weather they may be used in a "sleeveless configuration" to provide better ventilation to the user.
However, even if it is realized, these jackets have some drawbacks.
Protective jackets designed for motorcyclists need to be provided with specific protection parts designed to protect more vulnerable parts of the user's body, such as the shoulders, elbows and back.
In garments having removable sleeves, a protective portion configured to protect the shoulder and elbow is applied over the removable sleeve. Thus, when the user decides to change the configuration of the jacket from a "sleeved configuration" to a "sleeveless configuration", the user's shoulders and elbows are no longer protected by the protection.
US 6868558 discloses a garment comprising an inner shell provided with protective cushion members on the elbows, shoulders and back. The inner shell further comprises a web (panel) made of a mesh material, which is adapted to support the protective cushion member and to allow good ventilation.
The inner shell may be used in combination with an outer insulating shell having greater thermal insulating properties than the inner shell.
The outer shell may be fastened on top of the inner shell to provide more insulation in cold weather without the need to remove the inner shell. In fact, the inner shell is provided at the front portion with first fastening means designed to engage with corresponding closure means provided on the outer shell.
The solution disclosed in US 6868558 allows the shoulder and elbow to be protected by the cushion device in a configuration designed for warm weather (i.e. a configuration comprising only an inner shell) and a configuration designed for cold weather (i.e. a configuration comprising a combination of an inner shell and an outer shell). However, in configurations for cold weather, the user is forced to wear a double layer structure extending over the entire torso portion. The overlapping of the outer shell and the inner shell at the shoulder portion of the garment inevitably affects the comfort of the garment, as the arm movements of the user are somewhat limited.
This limitation is increased by the fact that the inner shell is fastened to the outer shell only at the front part of the garment.
Furthermore, due to this particular fastening configuration, the inner shell may move relative to the outer shell at the shoulder portions and along the sleeve portions, with the risk of the padding device moving from its original position during use of the garment, thereby failing to adequately protect the user's shoulders and elbows.
Disclosure of Invention
It is an object of the present invention to provide a double-sleeved protective garment for motorcyclists which is adapted to at least partially solve the above problems and disadvantages.
In particular, it is an object of the present invention to provide a double-sleeved protective garment for motorcyclists suitable for adapting to different weather conditions, providing adequate protection and comfort for the user in all operating configurations.
These and other objects and aims are achieved by a double sleeve protective garment according to claim 1.

Detailed Description
Referring to the drawings, an example of a double sleeve protective garment for a motorcyclist in accordance with the present invention is generally indicated by reference numeral 10. The dual-sleeve garment 10 may also be used for activities similar to riding motorcycles.
As shown in the drawings, the double sleeve protective garment 10 may be manufactured as a jacket. Alternatively, the two-sleeved protective garment may be in the form of a single suit.
The dual-sleeve protective garment 10 includes a garment body 12 provided with a right arm opening 14 and a left arm opening 16.
Further, the dual-sleeve protective garment 10 includes a removable right outer sleeve 18 configured to be removably secured to the garment body 12 at the right arm opening 14 and a removable left outer sleeve 20 configured to be removably secured to the garment body 12 at the left arm opening 16.
Preferably, the garment body 12 and the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are at least partially made of a wear resistant material.
The dual-sleeve protective garment 10 further includes a right inner sleeve 22 configured to be at least partially received within the removable right outer sleeve 18 and a left inner sleeve 24 configured to be at least partially received within the removable left outer sleeve 20 (see fig. 2). The right inner sleeve 22 is connected internally to the garment body 12 relative to the right arm opening 14 and the left inner sleeve 24 is connected internally to the garment body 12 relative to the left arm opening 16 (see, e.g., fig. 3-4 and 8-9).
Within the meaning of the present invention, the expression "internally connected with respect to the arm openings" is understood to mean the connection between the cuffs 22, 24 and the garment body 12, which is spaced from the arm openings 14, 16 towards the inside of the garment body 12 so as not to be visible during use of the garment.
In other words, at the junction between each sleeve 22, 24 and the garment body 12, a portion of the garment body overlaps the corresponding sleeve.
Furthermore, according to the present invention, the right sleeve 22 and the left sleeve 24 are provided with a protective element 26.
As will become apparent from the following description, the provision of removable outer sleeves 18, 20 in combination with inner sleeves 22, 24 provided with protective elements 26 allows for the dual-sleeve protective garment 10 to be changed from a first sleeved configuration, in which the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are connected to the garment body 12 (see fig. 1), to a second sleeved configuration, in which the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are removed from the garment body 12 (see fig. 3 and 5) without degrading the protection provided to the user.
In fact, the user may benefit from the protection provided by the protection element 26 applied at the cuffs 22, 24 in two configurations (the first configuration being suitable for cold weather and the second configuration being suitable for warm weather).
Furthermore, since each inner sleeve 22, 24 is internally connected with respect to the corresponding arm opening 14, 16, the protective garment 10 ensures a higher comfort for the user, since this type of connection ensures that in the first sleeve configuration of the protective garment 10, the inner sleeves 22, 24 remain in their correct position inside the removable sleeves 14, 16.
Furthermore, since the connection between each sleeve 22, 24 and the garment body 12 is internal with respect to the corresponding arm opening 14, 16, such connection is better protected from wear (see, e.g., fig. 8-9 and 10-11).
The various components of the double sleeve protective garment 10 will be disclosed in detail below.
As previously mentioned, the garment body 12 may be at least partially made of a wear resistant material.
Advantageously, the garment body 12 may be made of leather or leather-like material. Alternatively, as shown in the figures, the garment body 12 may be made of a protective textile material, such as polyester or polyamide.
Advantageously, the garment body 12 includes a front panel 28 and a rear panel 30, respectively, designed to extend over the chest and back of the user.
The front panel 28 is preferably divided into two parts by a longitudinal opening 29 that can be closed by a zipper closure to make the double sleeve protective garment 10 easier to wear (see fig. 1-3).
In the embodiment shown in fig. 5-9, the longitudinal opening is hidden by the front flap 32 (see fig. 5).
The garment body 12 may be provided with additional protective elements relative to the protective elements 26 applied at the cuffs 22, 24. These additional protective elements may be positioned in portions of the garment body 12 that have a high risk of damage, for example, caused by impact, wear and tear.
The garment body 12 may also be provided with stretch inserts in portions of the garment body 12 that have a low risk of damage and are adapted to improve the wearability of the dual-sleeve protective garment 10.
Advantageously, the garment body 12 may be provided with an inner liner 33. Preferably, the liner 33 is made of a mesh material (see fig. 7).
As shown in fig. 5-6, the garment body 12 may also be provided with removable front and/or rear sections 34, which are preferably connected to the garment body 12 by zip closures 36.
By acting on the zip closure 36, the user can at least partially detach the detachable section 34 from the garment body 12 in order to improve its breathability in warm weather conditions.
In the preferred embodiment, the garment body 12 is provided with at least two attachment tabs 38 located on the interior surface of the garment body 12 adjacent the right and left arm openings 14, 16. Thus, in both sleeved configurations of the garment 10, the connecting flap 38 is not visible during use of the garment 10 (see, e.g., fig. 2, 3, 5) unless the arm openings 14, 16 are inverted once the removable sleeves 18, 20 are removed from the garment body 12.
In detail, the first connecting tab 38 is positioned near the right arm opening 14, and the second connecting tab 38 is positioned near the left arm opening 16.
Each connecting flap 38 has a first edge 40 secured to the garment body 12 and a second edge 42 designed to be connected at the end of the corresponding sleeve 22, 24 (see fig. 8-9 and 10-11). Preferably, each connecting flap 38 extends from the front panel 28 to the rear panel 30 inside the garment body 12 so as to surround the corresponding arm opening 14, 16. In other words, each connecting tab 38 surrounds a corresponding arm opening 14, 16.
Preferably, the attachment tab 38 is made of a stretchable material. More preferably, the attachment flap 38 is made of a stretchable web material to facilitate breathability of the protective garment 10 at the junction between the garment body 12 and the inner sleeves 22, 24.
The removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are preferably made of the same material as the garment body 12.
Advantageously, the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are removably fastened at the peripheral portions 41 of the respective arm openings 14, 16 (see fig. 1-2). The arm openings 14, 16 are preferably positioned in the portion of the garment body 12 designed to overlap the user's shoulders, and the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are fastened along the entire peripheral portion 41 of the arm openings 14, 16 so as not to leave holes, particularly armpit holes, in the garment body 12.
The removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are secured to the garment body 12 by removable fastening means 43 (see fig. 2 and 10). The removable fastening means 43 may comprise a zipper, or a snap fastener, or a hook and loop fastener.
Similar to the garment body 12, the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 may also be provided with additional protective elements.
Preferably, the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 may be provided with a stretch insert 45 (see fig. 5).
The right and left inner sleeves 22, 24 are preferably non-removably connected to the garment body 12. Advantageously, the sleeves 22, 24 are connected to the garment body 12 by seams.
Preferably, each sleeve 22, 24 is attached to the garment body 12 at the second edge 42 of the corresponding attachment flap 38 (see FIGS. 10-11).
In this manner, the connection between the cuffs 22, 24 and the garment body 12 is positioned internally with respect to the arm openings 14, 16 so as to prevent wear and tear.
Furthermore, as clearly shown in fig. 11, in the region comprised between each connecting tab 38 and the corresponding arm opening 14, there are two layers of material even in the configuration without removable outer sleeves 18, 20: the material of the garment body 12 and the underlying material of the corresponding sleeves 22, 24. This provides better protection for the area near the shoulder portion, which is particularly critical for motorcyclists.
In this region, a portion of the cuffs 22, 24 are actually disposed inside the garment body 12.
At the same time, the provision of the attachment tabs 38 substantially results in a floating attachment between the sleeves 22, 24 and the garment body 12, thereby providing a higher degree of freedom of movement at the shoulder portions of the garment 10 (see, e.g., FIGS. 10-11).
According to the embodiment shown in the drawings, the inner sleeves 22, 24 are made of a mesh material to provide improved ventilation to the user once the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are removed from the garment body 12.
Advantageously, the portion of each sleeve 22, 24 facing the garment body 12 may include a stretch insert 44 to improve the wear resistance of the sleeve 22, 24 (see fig. 3 and 5).
A stretch insert 46 may also be disposed at the wrist portion of each sleeve 22, 24, with a pull tab 48 (see fig. 3 and 5) preferably also being provided.
The pull tab 48 may be used to ensure that the wrist portion of each inner sleeve 22, 24 is properly positioned inside the corresponding removable outer sleeve 18, 20 once the corresponding removable outer sleeve 18, 20 is attached to the garment body 12.
As shown in the drawings, each sleeve 22, 24 is provided with a protective element 26.
These protective elements 26 may be made of rigid or semi-rigid materials. For example, the protective element 26 may be made of a polymeric material, such as polypropylene. Preferably, a protective element 26 is applied over portions of the right and left sleeves 22, 24 that are configured to overlap the user's elbows and shoulders to provide adequate protection for such joint areas even when the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are removed from the garment body 12.
As shown in the figures, the protective element 26 applied at the shoulder portion may be partially covered by the garment body 12 due to the internal connection between the sleeves 22, 24 and the garment body 12 (see, e.g., fig. 3-4).
Advantageously, the protection element 26 is anatomically shaped so as to better fit the arm of the user. Preferably, the protection element is cup-shaped.
In the embodiment shown in the drawings, the protective element 26 is applied at the outer surface of the inner sleeves 22, 24.
Alternatively, the protective element 26 may be applied at the inner surface of the sleeves 22, 24 or inside a corresponding seat (e.g., a pocket) provided on the inner or outer surface of the sleeves 22, 24.
In a different embodiment, not shown in the figures, the protection element may consist of a wear-resistant coating applied on the outer surface of each inner sleeve 22, 24.
It is therefore clear how the intended purpose is achieved with the double sleeve protective garment 10 according to the present invention.
In fact, since the protective element 26 is applied to the inner sleeves 22, 24, the dual-sleeve protective garment 10 provides adequate protection for the user both in the first sleeved configuration (wherein the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are attached to the garment body 12) and in the second sleeved configuration (wherein the removable outer sleeves 18, 20 are removed from the garment body 12).
At the same time, the provision of these sleeves 22, 24 does not reduce the comfort of the double-sleeved protective garment. In fact, the inner sleeve has a degree of freedom with respect to the garment body due to the provision of the internal connecting flaps, so as to improve the wearability of the garment and not to influence the movements of the user at the shoulder portions.
Furthermore, since the connection between the inner sleeve and the garment body is located in the protected area, the risk that the inner sleeve may be detached from the garment in case of an accident is reduced.
With respect to the embodiments of the two-sleeve protective suit 10 described above, those skilled in the art may make modifications to the described elements and/or replace the described elements with equivalent elements in order to meet certain requirements without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
