Description

Package for cutting tools
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to a package for a cutting tool. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a package for cutting tools that provides improved display and packaging of the cutting tools.
Background
Cutting tools, particularly small cutting tools, are typically packaged in packages that generally include a vertical hanging configuration. This enables the potential buyer to better interact with the different details and specifications of the cutting tool and evaluate whether the cutting tool meets his/her needs. The package typically has a transparent plastic cover covering at least some portion of the cutting tool. Such transparent plastic may limit the ability of potential buyers to interact with the cutting tool. Many efforts have been made to limit or avoid the application of plastic covers to cutting tools.
Some packages also allow limited operation by potential buyers using cutting tools without the need to completely disassemble or open the package. However, this may pose some security threat to the potential purchaser and may also have an impact on the life of the package or the cutting edge of the cutting tool. In addition, there are constraints on better marketing of the cutting tool (preferably better utilization of the packaging of the cutting tool to provide written description about the cutting tool). These problems result in situations where a transparent plastic cover is used that does not ensure better trial and display of the cutting tool within the package.
An example of a package is provided in PCT application 2016,173,673 (hereinafter the' 673 reference). The' 673 reference discloses a package for a manually operated cutting device that includes a pair of cutting blades pivotably tethered to one another at a pivot joint. These cutting blades are coupled to a handle for manual operation of the cutting apparatus. The package includes a base member defining a plane and a cover member shaped as a cap. In the packaged state, the cover member is tethered to the base member. In the packaged state, the cover member at least partially covers the at least one cutting blade, but substantially does not cover the handle. The handle is accessible for manual engagement in the packaged state. The cutting device is only restrained in the packaged state by engaging the cover member of the base member in a form-fitting connection. The form-fitting connection is supplemented by additional tie-down means at a plurality of fixing points. One fixation point is located between the handles of the cutting device held in the packaged state and the other fixation point is located near the front portion of the cover member. In the' 673 reference, the cutting device may be moved back and forth since the fixation points are located between the handles and the handles are not secured to the cutting tool package by fasteners or other tethering means. The present reference also does not appear to mention any configuration for restraining the cutting tool with a package, such as a hole in the handle of the cutting tool. An example of a package is provided in german patent 20,314,122 (hereinafter the' 122 reference). The' 122 reference discloses a package drilled with three holes in a triangular arrangement. These holes receive V-shaped clamps having short leg extensions with tabs. The tab engages in a hole in a mating back panel located behind the package. In the' 122 reference, the cutting tool is suspendable and the cutting tool is not secured or tethered with the cutting tool package. Furthermore, neither of these references appears to disclose the use of fasteners or tie down devices to tie down the handle of a cutting tool to secure or tie down the handle of the cutting tool in a cutting tool package.
Accordingly, there is a need for an improved package that increases the appeal of the cutting tool packaged within the package and allows for user trial use.
Disclosure of Invention
In view of the above, it is an object of the present invention to solve or at least reduce the drawbacks discussed above. This object is at least partly achieved by a package. The package includes a package body for packaging a cutting tool. The package body includes one or more first cut-out sections at least partially covering one or more cutting edges of the cutting tool. The package is characterized in that the package body comprises one or more second cut-out sections to which the removable fasteners are engaged. The removable fastener is adapted to engage with at least one handle of the cutting tool. Further, the removable fastener allows for removable coupling between the cutting tool and the package by engaging with the aperture of the at least one handle of the cutting tool and the one or more second cutout sections of the package.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the removable fastener is a pin. This allows easy coupling between the cutting tool and the package by applying a pin.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the hole of the cutting tool is provided at the end of the handle opposite the cutting edge of the cutting tool. This ensures that the handle of the cutting tool is relatively free to move relative to the cutting edge when the cutting tool is assembled in the package.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the hole is a wristband hole of a cutting tool. This allows the wristband aperture to be used to fasten or assemble the cutting tool with the package.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the one or more second cut-out sections are similar in shape to a handle comprising a hole. This shape of the second cutout section allows it to be easily engaged with the handle of the cutting tool while the cutting tool is held within the package.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the packaging body comprises a first body portion and a second body portion which are joined to each other at a line of weakness. This allows the second body portion to be folded or removed from the package body along the line of weakness. This removable arrangement of the second body portion allows the cutting tool within the package to be easily engaged and tried out.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the cutting tool is a cutter. The cutting tool may be any portable tool such as a shears, pruning shears, scissors, etc.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the cutting tool is packaged with the package. The packaging allows for easy and convenient handling of the cutting tool while ensuring protection of the cutting edge of the cutting tool.

Fig. 1 shows a package 100 for packaging a cutting tool 150. The present disclosure shows cutting tool 150 as a shears, however, package 100 may be readily used with any other tool known or used in the art (such as scissors, trimmers, etc.) or even clamps. Accordingly, the present disclosure is not limited in any way by the type of cutting tool 150.
As shown in fig. 1, the package 100 includes a package body 110 adapted to package a cutting tool 150 with the package 100. The package body 110 includes a suspension cavity 112. Suspension cavities 112 may facilitate hanging of package 100. Suspension lumens 112 may be suspended using any wall-hanging means such as nails, brackets, and the like. The present disclosure is not limited in any way by the choice of suspension surface.
The package body 110 includes a first body portion 114 and a second body portion 116. The first body portion 114 and the second body portion 116 are shown bonded to one another at a line of weakness 118 of the package body 110. The line of weakness 118 may be a series of tabs, holes, etc. within the package body 110. The line of weakness 118 may allow either of the first body portion 114 and the second body portion 116 to be partially or fully folded or removed from the package body 110, as shown in fig. 5.
In some embodiments, the package body 110 is made of one or more materials of cardboard, plastic, polymer, and the like. The material of the package body 110 may be selected based on the cutting tool 150 or any other implementation factor.
Referring to fig. 1 and 2, the package body 110 includes one or more first cut-out sections 120. The first kerf section 120 is adapted to at least partially cover one or more cutting edges 152, 154 of the cutting tool 150. The present disclosure shows a first cutting edge 152 and a second cutting edge 154, collectively referred to as cutting edges 152, 154.
The present disclosure shows a first cutout section 120. The first cutout section 120 may be obtained by cutting out three sides of a rectangular portion from the first body portion 114. The first cut-out section 120 may then be folded such that the first cut-out section 120 is substantially perpendicular to the package body 110. Further, the first cutout section 120 includes a blade hole 122. The blade aperture 122 allows for receiving and at least partially covering the cutting edges 152, 154 of the cutting tool 150, as shown in fig. 2.
The package body 110 includes one or more second cutout sections 130. The present disclosure shows a second cutout section 130. One or more second cutout sections 130 are provided to have removable fasteners 162 engaged therewith. The removable fastener 162 allows for removable coupling between the cutting tool 150 and the package 100 by engaging with a hole 160 (shown in fig. 2) of at least one handle 156 (herein the first handle 156 of the cutting tool 150). The second cutout section 130 may be obtained by cutting a similar shape to the first handle 156 of the cutting tool 150 into the second body portion 116. The second cutout section 130 may be movable relative to the package body 110, as shown in fig. 2.
In some embodiments, the one or more second cutout sections 130 are similar in shape to the handle 156 including the aperture 160, as shown in fig. 2, 3. This shape of the second cutout section 130 allows for easy engagement with the handle 156 of the cutting tool 150 while the cutting tool 150 is held within the package 100.
Referring to fig. 4 and 5, the removable fastener 162 is adapted to engage at least one handle 156 (i.e., the first handle 156) of the cutting tool 150. In the present disclosure, the removable fastener 162 is shown engaged with the first handle 156, however, the removable fastener 162 may be engaged with any of the first handle 156 and the second handle 158 of the cutting tool 150. Further, the removable fastener 162 allows for removable coupling between the cutting tool 150 and the package 100 by engaging with the aperture 160 of at least one handle (i.e., the first handle 156) of the cutting tool 150 and the one or more second cutout sections 130 of the package 100.
In some embodiments, the removable fastener 162 is a pin. However, the removable fastener 162 may be any fastening device such as a nut, bolt, clip, etc., and such variations are well within the scope of the present disclosure. This facilitates the removable coupling between the cutting tool 150 and the package 100 by applying the removable fastener 162.
In some embodiments, the aperture 160 of the cutting tool 150 is disposed at an end of the handle 156 opposite the cutting edges 152, 154 of the cutting tool 150. This ensures that the handle 156 of the cutting tool 150 is relatively free to move relative to the cutting edges 152, 154 while the cutting tool 150 remains assembled within the package 100. In one embodiment, the hole 160 is a wristband hole 160 of the cutting tool 150. This allows wristband aperture 160 to have a dual function, such as securing or assembling the cutting tool 150 with the package 100 and then using the cutting tool with the wristband.
Referring to fig. 5, a cutting tool 150 that is a shears is shown, along with a user's hand 170. The present disclosure allows the second body portion 116 to be folded or removed from the package body 110 along a line of weakness 118 (shown in fig. 1-3). As shown in this figure, the second body portion 116 (not visible in this figure) of the package body 110 is removed or folded. The second body portion 116 of the package body 110 may be folded along the line of weakness 118 such that only the second cut-out section 130 remains joined to the package 100. The second cutout section 130 of the package 100 allows the handle 156 of the cutting tool to engage the package 100. This engagement between the second cutout section 130 and the handle 156 is accomplished by the presence of the removable fastener 162. Thus, the package 100 allows the user's hand 170 to properly engage the first and second handles 156, 158 of the cutting tool 150.
The folded second body portion 116 of the package body 110 provides sufficient space for the user's hand 170 to engage the first handle 156 and the second handle of the cutting tool 150 as desired. In addition, the user's hand 170 may be able to operate the cutting tool 150 within the package 100 with the second body portion 116 of the package body 110 folded or removed. The user's hand 170 may operate the handles (i.e., the first handle 156 and the second handle 158) to check the suitability of the cutting tool 150 as well as other ergonomic preferences. Furthermore, the first kerf section 120 will ensure that the cutting edges 152, 154 of the cutting tool 150 remain shielded within the first kerf section 120 when the cutting tool 150 is operated. Accordingly, the present disclosure provides a cutting tool 150 packaged with a package 100. The package 100 allows for easy and convenient handling of the cutting tool 150 while ensuring protection of the cutting edges 152, 154 of the cutting tool 150.
In the drawings and specification, there have been disclosed preferred embodiments and examples of the invention and, although specific terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only and not for purposes of limitation, the scope of the invention being set forth herein.
