本文中所描述的技术解决方案促进了使反射式显示器在低环境光条件下可阅读。在本技术解决方案的一个或多个方面中,照明系统以微型LED嵌入到显示面板中。在一个或多个方面中,微型LED与用于形成各个像素元件的电子颜料材料嵌入于同一层上。进一步地,在一个或多个方面中,通过在微型LED下方安装反射层或安装透光密封材料以将电颜料固定在指定区域上,能够提高照明系统的效率以降低功耗或减少要嵌入的微型LED的数量。更进一步,在一个或多个方面中,照明传感器也嵌入于显示面板中(例如,在同一层上),以监测环境光条件并取决于环境照明条件来控制微型LED的光输出。
微型发光二极管(微型LED),有时也被称为微-LED、mLED或µLED,是尺寸小于50微米的微小型发光二极管(LED)。
根据示例性实施例,图1A示出了图示根据本文中所描述的技术解决方案的一个或多个方面的反射式显示面板100的俯视图或平面图。图2示出了图示图1A的反射式显示面板100的侧视图或剖视图。应理解,在本文中的附图中所示的部件的数量和尺寸是图示性的,并且在本技术解决方案的一个或多个方面中,部件的数量和尺寸能够变化。
反射式显示面板100可包括用于支撑像素框架15的衬底11,该像素框架包括形成各个像素元件的多种颜料。衬底11可优选地由绝缘材料(例如,玻璃或丙烯酸)或适合于支撑像素框架15的其他材料制成。像素框架15环绕显示面板的显示区域(即,由显示面板100呈现图像的地方)。
衬底11的表面被划分成多个子区域101。应注意,被划分的子区域101并未在物理上被切开,并且衬底11不是通过整合子区域101制成的。换句话说,衬底11是单个或完整的实体或未切割的实体。进一步地,应注意,图1A中的衬底11的划分是图示性的,并且在一个或多个示例中,取决于子区域101和显示面板100的分辨率,以不同的方式(子区域101的数量、尺寸等)来划分显示面板100。
显示面板100可包括几个驱动器12,这些驱动器分别相对于(例如,在顶部、左侧、右侧等)子区域101而对应地设置。应注意,驱动器12的位置在图1A中被举例说明,然而,在其他示例中,驱动器12可设置在任何其他位置中。通常,驱动器12放置在显示区域之外,该显示区域由包括显示面板的像素的子区域101所环绕。驱动器12可以是集成电路或芯片,其然后被结合在衬底11的表面上。在一些示例中,使用表面贴装技术(SMT)来安装驱动器12,诸如玻璃上芯片(COG)或倒装芯片。驱动器12能够包括分别用于行和列的扫描线驱动器和数据线驱动器。
驱动器12能够使用无源抑或有源矩阵来驱动显示面板100的像素。图2A示出了无源矩阵显示器的侧视图/剖视图,且图2B示出了有源矩阵显示器的侧视图/剖视图。在一些方面中,使用电极34将电信号施加到像素30,以控制所呈现的图像。在一些示例中,显示面板100包括薄膜晶体管(TFT)层36(图2B),以控制由像素30示出的显示图像(即,内容)。
显示面板100进一步包括一个或多个定时控制器(TCON)13,所述一个或多个TCON与衬底11电连接。在一些示例中,TCON 13可经由柔性印刷电路板(FPCB)连接到衬底11。TCON 13能够进一步与对应的驱动器12电连接,例如经由设置在衬底11上的信号迹线(未示出)。在一些示例中,一个TCON 13可与至少两个驱动器12电连接。因此,TCON 13的数量可少于驱动器12的数量。TCON 13可经由信号迹线与对应的驱动器12直接电连接。替代地,TCON13可经由信号迹线电连接到一个驱动器12,并且在信号缓冲之后,然后经由信号迹线电连接到另一个驱动器12。
在一些方面中,驱动器12、像素框架15和其他部件嵌入于衬底11的两个层之间(图2A)。在一些示例中,第一衬底层和第二衬底层能够使用不同的衬底材料。例如,一个层可以是支撑部件(例如,驱动器、像素框架等)的非透明材料,且一个层可由透明材料制成,该透明材料促进环境光激活形成像素的颜料,并且还促进用户看到像素(及因此所显示的内容)。
在一个或多个方面中,在图1B、图1C和图1D中,像素框架15使用透明密封件38来将一个像素与另一个像素分开。进一步地,像素框架15包括一个或多个光源35,诸如LED。图1B、图1C和图1D描绘了具有不同形状的像素30的像素框架15的几个示例,其中光源35相对于像素30被嵌入。应理解,在其他示例中,其他类型的布置和形状是可能的。
图3A描绘了根据本技术解决方案的一个或多个方面的像素框架15。像素框架15包括一个或多个像素30。应理解,为了图示而仅描绘两个像素30。然而,在一个或多个方面中,像素框架15能够包括更多几个像素30。像素30在像素框架15中的数量取决于显示面板100的分辨率。
每个像素30包括反射材料32,诸如颜料和/或染料。通过控制每个像素30处的电信号,能够在每个像素30处呈现预期的颜色和图像。驱动器12(图1)能够基于来自TCON 13的信号来控制到每个像素30的电信号。在一些方面中,使用电极34将电信号施加到反射材料32。
反射材料32的类型能够从一个方面到另一个方面而变化,而不影响本文中所提供的技术解决方案。例如,反射材料32能够是电泳材料,诸如二氧化钛(TiO2),其中每个像素30的颜色和亮度是通过移动像素30的带电颜料粒子来控制的。替代地,反射材料32能够包括水、彩色油和涂有疏水绝缘体的电极,以提供电润湿显示器。在电润湿中,在没有电压的情况下,像素30中的染色油覆盖整个像素区域并示出其颜色,且当电压被导通时,由于油形成滴状物,所以彩色区域减小以暴露出背景。在又其他方面中,反射材料32包括具有用于氧化还原反应的电解质层和电极的电致变色材料。在这样的情况下,像素30使用反射材料32的电致变色性质进行操作,其中可见的颜色由于电化学反应所致而改变。应理解,以上内容仅是能够用于使像素30显示内容的反射材料32的一些示例,并且在其他示例中,能够使用不同类型的反射材料或其组合,而不限制本文中所提供的技术解决方案。
在一个或多个方面中,像素30能够包括未示出的附加部件。
像素框架15进一步包括光区段40。光区段40包括微型LED 35,该微型LED照亮显示器100中的一个或多个像素30。光区段40进一步包括将电信号提供给微型LED 35的至少一个电极37。
这些电信号促进了微型LED 35的操作。操作微型LED 35包括将微型LED打开或关闭。操作微型LED 35能够进一步包括调整微型LED 35的亮度、颜色和其他属性。微型LED 35发射光45,这促进了像素30的反射材料32向用户显示内容。
微型LED 35能够在低环境光的条件下操作以促进像素30可见,即使当环境光变暗到低于预定阈值时。在一个或多个方面中,如图3B中所示,使用光传感器39来检测环境光。光传感器39能够指示环境光是否低于预定阈值。替代地或另外,控制器50接收来自光传感器39的光测量值并确定环境光是否低于预定阈值。在一些方面中,光传感器39或控制器50能够基于环境光的测量的强度来确定由微型LED 35发射的光45所需的强度。作为响应,微型LED 35接收对应的电信号,其引起具有确定的强度的光45。该确定的强度使得像素30能够在测量的环境光中可见。
在一个或多个方面中,光传感器39与微型LED 35嵌入于同一层中。应注意,光传感器39可以以与图3A中所示的不同方式定位。在一些方面中,光传感器39可由一个或多个像素30共享。在一些方面中,每个像素框架15能够具有共同的光传感器39。在一些方面中,每个像素30具有相应的光传感器39。在其他方面中,光传感器39由显示面板100中的一个或多个像素30共享的其他组合能够是可能的。
在一些方面中,如图3A中所示,光区段40是在两个像素30之间。从光区段40的微型LED 35发射的光45至少照亮了两个相邻的像素30。然而,应理解,在其他方面中,光区段40的位置可与图3A中所描绘的位置不同。例如,在一些情况下,光区段40可由两个以上的像素30共享。在一些示例中,(除了来自第一像素框架15的像素之外)第一像素框架15的光区段40还照亮来自另一个(第二)像素框架15的像素30。
在一个或多个方面中,光区段40使用透明密封材料38与像素30分开。在一个或多个方面中,诸如在图3C中,光区段40填充有透明密封材料38,并且能够使用全内反射(TIR)来使发射光45反射到像素30上。透明密封材料38能够是聚合物、弹性体或任何其他合适的化学物或其组合。例如,银纳米线(AgNW)、导电填料材料(比如,碳纳米管(CNT)、单壁碳纳米管(SWNT)、石墨烯和ITO)、或其变体的组合能够用来形成透明密封材料38。在其他方面中,硅、环氧树脂或具有UV可固化组合物的PET、光引发剂或脱模材料、或其组合也能够被用作透明密封材料38。透明密封材料38促进了发射光45到达像素30中的反射材料32,由此使像素30的内容可见。
在一个或多个方面中,光区段40包括反射层47(图3A)。反射层47由诸如铝、二氧化钛(TiO2)等材料制成,该材料促进了发射光45朝向光区段40附近的(多个)像素30反射。
图4描绘了根据一个或多个方面的用以在低环境光条件下经由反射式显示器向用户显示内容的方法60的流程图。方法60包括:在块42处,经由反射式显示器100来显示期望的内容。该内容是使用像素框架15中的像素30来显示的。
该方法进一步400包括:在块44处,使用光传感器39来测量环境光。进一步地,在块46处,将测量的环境光与预定阈值(例如,500 lux、100 lux等)进行比较。在一个或多个方面中,光传感器39被预先编程/预先构造成使得它仅在环境光低于预定阈值时提供通知。
如果认为环境光低于(或等于)预定阈值,则在块48处将微型LED 35接通(即,提供电信号/电力以发射光)。在一个或多个方面中,由微型LED 35发射的光45的量与被测量的环境光成比例。例如,供应给微型LED 35的电力的量(例如,电流的量、施加的电压等)与测量的环境光成比例。以这样的方式,测量的环境光越少,则由微型LED 35发射的光45越多。
替代地,如果认为环境光高于(或等于)预定阈值,则在块52处将微型LED 35切断(即,停止发射光)。在一些方面中,停止到微型LED 35的电力。
图5描绘了显示面板被用作车辆400的一部分的示例。显示面板100能够被用作屏幕404的一部分。显示面板404能够在车辆内部或在车辆的外部上,或两种情况兼具。屏幕404能够是指车辆400所配备的多个显示面板100。屏幕404将信息呈现给一个或多个用户,诸如车辆400的乘员。例如,屏幕404能够是信息娱乐系统的一部分。图6描绘了包括屏幕404的示例信息娱乐系统500。信息娱乐系统500的屏幕404能够用于显示信息,诸如无线电频道、车辆指标(例如,里程表、时间等)、导航数据、游戏、视频、时钟等。
另外,屏幕404显示由车辆400上配备的一个或多个传感器402捕获的信息。例如,传感器402能够包括雷达、激光雷达、相机、环境光传感器或任何其他这样的传感器装置。使用传感器402测量的数据可用于在显示面板100上呈现信息。在一个示例中,相机捕获在车辆400后部的场景,并且该场景被呈现在屏幕404上。以这样的方式,屏幕404能够被用作后视组件的一部分以代替(或补充)后视镜。应理解,在其他示例中,也能够呈现来自车辆400的其他侧的场景。替代地或另外,显示面板404能够用于呈现来自车辆400上配备的其他类型的传感器402的信息。屏幕以有线和/或无线的方式与传感器402进行通信。替代地或另外,屏幕404能够用于反映或呈现来自用户设备406的信息,用户设备诸如为手机、可穿戴设备、膝上型计算机、平板计算机等。在一个或多个示例中,屏幕404也能够是车辆400的前部分(例如,驾驶员座椅)和后部分(乘客座椅)之间的单独的屏幕的一部分。屏幕可以以无线和/或有线的方式与用户设备406通信。
图7示出了示例视图602,其中显示面板404被用作车辆400中的面向外部的显示器。进一步地,示例视图604示出了显示面板100被用作车辆400中的面向内部的显示器404。
应理解,车辆400是示例性的,并且本文中所描述的技术特征适用于除所描绘的车辆之外的其他类型的车辆。附加地,应理解,传感器402和屏幕404的位置是示例性的,并且在其他示例中,这样的部件的位置、形状、大小能够变化。

本文中的技术解决方案提供了一种微型LED嵌入型反射式显示装置,其包括第一显示衬底层、第二显示衬底层、以及用以在反射式显示器上显示信息的电颜料。显示装置进一步包括用以将电颜料固定在指定区域上的密封材料。显示装置还包括位于密封材料之间的一个或多个光源,以在低环境照明条件下照亮显示器。装置还包括印刷在衬底上的导电材料,以电气控制电颜料和光源。
装置进一步包括在一个或多个光源下面的反射表面,以有效地管理从光源发射的光以使其到达颜料材料。进一步地,装置包括透明密封材料,以允许从光源发射的光到达像素中的颜料材料。装置还包括薄膜晶体管(TFT)层,该TFT层控制由像素示出的显示图像(即,内容)。TFT层还能够控制供应给光源的电力,以使像素在低照度条件下可见。在一些方面中,装置包括光传感器,该光传感器嵌入到显示器中以取决于环境照明条件来控制从光源发射的光的量。

Claims (10)
1.一种反射式显示装置,其包括:
被划分到多个像素中的颜料材料层,每个像素中的所述颜料材料通过反射光来显示信息;以及
嵌入于所述颜料材料层中的光源,其中,所述光源发射被所述颜料材料反射的光。
2.根据权利要求1所述的反射式显示装置,其还包括在像素和所述光源之间的透明密封材料。
3.根据权利要求1所述的反射式显示装置,其还包括反射材料层,以将由所述光源发射的所述光反射到所述多个像素中的一个或多个像素。
4.根据权利要求1所述的反射式显示装置,其中,所述光源是多个光源。
5.根据权利要求1所述的反射式显示装置,其中,所述光源是微型LED。
6.根据权利要求1所述的反射式显示装置,其还包括检测环境光的量的光传感器,其中,所述光源响应于环境光的所述量低于预定阈值来发射所述光。
7.根据权利要求1所述的反射式显示装置,其还包括支撑所述颜料材料层的衬底层。
8.一种方法,其包括:
使用光传感器来确定反射式显示面板周围的环境光的量;以及
基于确定环境光的所述量低于预定阈值,通过将电力提供给所述光源来引起所述光源发射入射在所述反射式显示面板的像素中的颜料材料上的光,所述光源嵌入于所述反射式显示面板中与所述像素在同一层中。
9.根据权利要求8所述的方法,其中,所述反射式显示面板包括嵌入于所述光源下面的反射材料层,其中,从所述光源发射的光被所述反射材料层引导到所述像素。
10.根据权利要求8所述的方法,其中,所述光源通过透明密封材料与所述像素分开,从所述光源发射的光穿过所述透明密封材料。
