Only the elements necessary for understanding the invention are shown in the figures. To facilitate reading of the figures, identical reference numerals have been used, where possible, to designate identical elements that are common to the figures.
It is noted that in this document, the terms "horizontal", "vertical", "lower", "upper", "top", "bottom", "front", "rear", "longitudinal" and "transverse" used to describe the appliance, are used with reference to the appliance when it is laid flat on its base, as shown in fig. 1.
Figures 1 and 2 show a steam ironing appliance comprising a portable base 1 connected to a steam iron 3 by a flexible conduit 2, the base 1 being electrically connected to a household electrical grid by an electrical cord (not visible in the figures).
The base 1 comprises, in a manner known per se, a removable water tank, and a pump for drawing water from the water tank to convey the water to the iron 3.
The iron 3 comprises a flat soleplate 30, on which soleplate 30 a housing is mounted, which housing comprises a grip handle 31, which grip handle 31 is provided with a free rear end protruding laterally from the body. The casing contains, in a manner known per se, an aluminium casting in thermal contact with the bottom plate and comprising an instantaneous evaporation chamber provided with a heating resistance, into which water is injected by means of a pump from a tank 10. The operation of the pump is controlled by a trigger 32 arranged below the front end of the handle 31, the pump and the vaporisation chamber being advantageously dimensioned to allow a steam flow rate of about 25gr/mn to be continuously generated when the trigger 32 is actuated, the sole plate 30 typically comprising apertures for the discharge of steam.
The appliance comprises a base 4 on which the base 1 removably rests, the upper end of the base 1 being provided with a handle 11 to facilitate transport of the base.
Preferably, the base 4 comprises two telescopic rods 40, the telescopic rods 40 extending vertically and comprising an upper end supporting an ironing board 5, the ironing board 5 comprising a flat ironing surface 50, the ironing surface 50 being designed to be covered by an outer cover on which the garment to be ironed can be placed.
According to fig. 2 and 4 to 6, one of the telescopic rods 40 supports a support means 8 on which the iron 3 can be placed during an inactive ironing stage, the support means 8 comprising a coupling arm 8A, 8B, the coupling arm 8A, 8B extending transversely to the rod 40 and the end of the coupling arm being fastened to the rod 40 by means of a fastening member 83. The fastening means 83 are advantageously constituted by a sleeve engaged around the rod 40 and comprising a rib 83A, the rib 83A being inserted in a groove provided vertically on the rod 40 and thus preventing the sleeve from rotating around the rod 40.
The support means 8 advantageously comprise a body made of plastic material having a receiving housing 81, the housing of the iron 3 being designed to be inserted in this receiving housing 81. As shown in fig. 4 and 5, the receiving housing 81 comprises a flat surface 80 supporting a thermal insulation pad 82, the soleplate 30 being designed to rest against the thermal insulation pad 82 when the iron 3 rests in the receiving housing 81, the lower end of the receiving housing 81 being bordered by a skirt 84, the skirt 84 having a shape adapted to stably hold the iron 3 in the receiving housing 81.
Preferably, the surface 80 forms an angle of about 15 ° with respect to a vertical plane, and the skirt 84 has, in its central portion, a recess 84A for the passage of the handle 31 of the iron.
More specifically, according to the invention, the support means 8 comprise a hinge 9, the hinge 9 allowing to vary the orientation of the receiving housing for receiving the iron 3 with respect to the sleeve 83.
In the particular example shown in the figures, this hinge 9 is constituted by a pivoting coupling integrated in the arms 8A, 8B, which allows pivoting the receiving casing 81 with respect to the vertical axis, which divides the arm 7 into a first portion 8A integrally connected with a fastening part 83 and a second portion 8B to which the receiving casing 81 is fastened.
According to fig. 6, the pivot coupling is advantageously constituted by a combination of a male leaf 90 provided at one end of the first portion 8A of the arm, the male leaf 90 being engaged in a female leaf 91 provided at one end of the second portion 8B of the arm. Preferably, the second portion 8B of the arm has a length of between 1 and 10cm, and advantageously of about 5 cm. Such a length has the advantage of biasing the receiving housing 81 towards the front or rear of the appliance when the second part of the arm is pivoted.
In order to reduce the manufacturing costs, the male leaf 90 as well as the female leaf are preferably obtained directly by moulding together with the first portion 8A and the second portion 8B of the limb, these two portions of the limb advantageously being made of plastic material.
Thus, as shown in fig. 1, the support means 8 may be arranged such that the first portion 8A and the second portion 8B are aligned with respect to each other such that the surface 80 of the receiving housing 81 is oriented in a lateral position in which the receiving housing 81 is symmetrically arranged with respect to a vertical plane through the rod 40.
In this lateral position, the use ergonomics of the appliance remains substantially the same during the phase of placing the iron 3 in the receiving housing 81 of the support means 8 or of removing the iron 3 from the receiving housing 81, whether the user is facing the plate 5 or behind the plate 5.
However, as shown in fig. 2, the user may also orient the surface 80 toward the front of the appliance by pivoting the second portion 8B of the arm relative to the first portion 8A. The receiving housing 81 is better visible to the user when facing the panel 5, thereby improving the ergonomics of use of the appliance at that location of the user.
Conversely, when a user is positioned behind the plate 5 to perform an ironing operation, the surface 80 may also be oriented towards the rear of the appliance by pivoting the second portion 8B of the arm relative to the first portion 8A in another direction, as shown in figure 3. He can then clearly see the receiving housing 81, which also allows him to use the support device 8 in a very ergonomic manner.
The support device according to the invention therefore has the advantage of providing good ergonomics of use, whether the user is located in front of or behind the board, by allowing the user to orient the receiving housing for receiving the iron in his direction.
Furthermore, the positioning of the pivot link at the intermediate portion of the arm has the advantage of enabling the receiving housing to be offset towards the front or rear of the plate when the second portion of the arm is pivoted, which allows the receiving housing to be closer to the user.
Finally, such a support device has the advantage of being simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments shown and described above, which are given by way of example only. Modifications are possible, particularly in respect of the construction of the various elements or by substitution of equivalent techniques, without thereby departing from the scope of protection of the invention.
Thus, in a variant of embodiment not shown, the pivot coupling may be provided at the end of the arm, directly at the interface between the arm and the support surface.
Thus, in another embodiment variant not shown, the pivot coupling can be replaced by a ball-and-socket coupling.
In a further embodiment variant, not shown, at least a portion of the arm of the support means may be telescopic.
In a further embodiment variant, not shown, the arms of the support device can be removably fastened to the rods of the support plate, for example by means of a clip-fastening system.
