To maintain the following description of the embodiments of the present disclosure clear and concise, a detailed description of known functions and known components have been omitted from the present disclosure.
The existing LCD display product is limited by voltage, so that the gray scale number of the display product is difficult to increase, and the more refined display requirement cannot be realized. However, as the existing picture needs richer display detail content, the fineness of screen display is required to be higher and higher, the gray scale quantity of the existing LCD display product is fixed, the more refined display requirement cannot be met, and the product performance is poorer.
Based on the above considerations, the first embodiment of the present disclosure provides a method for displaying a picture, the flow of which is shown in fig. 1, and the method includes steps S101 to S103:
s101, determining the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed.
The picture to be displayed is a picture to be displayed on the whole display screen, and the number of gray scales is determined according to different display precision requirements of the picture due to different display precision requirements of the picture. For example, if the number of gray levels of a common picture is completely within 256 gray levels, the conventional display screen can be implemented, but if one picture needs 500 gray levels, the conventional display screen cannot display the picture according to the original precision of the picture, and the picture displayed on the display screen has a certain loss of detail relative to the original picture data, so that the number of gray levels of the whole picture to be displayed needs to be determined first.
The display screen of the embodiment of the disclosure is generally an LCD display screen, the LCD display screen further comprises an LCD panel and a backlight, and under the condition that the LCD panel cannot increase gray scales, the embodiment of the disclosure starts with the backlight and increases the number of the gray scales by adjusting the backlight, so that more gray scales are realized.
S102, determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, wherein one backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, and one pixel area comprises one or more pixels.
For the LCD panel, the gray scales are usually divided into a bright state and a dark state, for example, L0-L127 are the dark state gray scales, and L128-L255 are the bright state gray scales, so when the target luminance value of each backlight area is determined according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, the target luminance value may be determined as a whole, that is, whether the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed is greater than 256 is detected, or the target luminance value may be detected according to the bright state gray scale and the dark state gray scale, that is, whether the dark state gray scale number of the picture to be displayed is greater than 128 is detected, and whether the bright state gray scale number of the picture to be displayed is greater than 128 is detected.
For the way of separately detecting the dark state gray scales, when the number of the dark state gray scales of the picture to be displayed is greater than that of the LCD panel, it is determined that more dark state gray scales need to be presented, and the 128 gray scales (L0-L127) corresponding to the original LCD panel cannot meet the dark state presentation requirement of the display picture, so that the increase of the dark state gray scales can be realized by adjusting the target brightness value of the backlight area, that is, the backlight is adjusted downwards (the adjustment may be according to a certain proportion) under the original reference brightness value, the adjusted brightness value is used as the target brightness value, and further more gray scales can be presented by superimposing the LCD panel and the backlight brightness.
For the independent detection mode of the bright-state gray scale, when the number of the bright-state gray scale of the picture to be displayed is greater than that of the LCD panel, it is determined that more bright-state gray scales need to be presented, and the 128 gray scale (L128-L255) corresponding to the original LCD panel cannot meet the bright-state presentation requirement of the displayed picture, so that the increase of the bright-state gray scale can be realized by adjusting the target brightness value of the backlight area, that is, the backlight is adjusted upwards (the adjustment can be according to a certain proportion) under the condition of the original reference brightness value, and the adjusted brightness value is used as the target brightness value, so that more gray scales can be presented by superposing the LCD panel and the backlight brightness.
Because one backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, in the process of determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, no matter a display screen integral detection mode is adopted, or a dark state gray scale and a bright state gray scale are adopted to be detected separately, the target brightness value of each backlight area can be determined only by finally realizing the target brightness value in one backlight area; in implementation, the target brightness value of the backlight area may be determined according to the following process: determining each preset pixel area with the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed exceeding the gray scale number of the LCD panel; determining a predetermined backlight area corresponding to the predetermined pixel area; and calculating the target brightness value of the preset backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed corresponding to the preset backlight area and the gray scale number of the LCD panel.
For example, the number of gray scales of the whole to-be-displayed picture is 500, which exceeds the number of gray scales of the LCD panel, but the gray scales that can be presented by the LCD panel itself cannot be changed, so that under the condition that the pixels of the LCD panel normally display the corresponding gray scales, the gray scales of the pixel regions are not enough to support the gray scale requirements of the to-be-displayed picture, and therefore, the luminance values of the backlight regions need to be respectively adjusted to increase the number of gray scales, so that the picture is displayed more finely; for precise adjustment, the fewer pixels contained in the pixel region, the finer the adjustment of the luminance value of the backlight region; the brightness value can be increased or decreased on the backlight reference brightness value, and the specific situation is determined according to whether the gray scale is a bright state or a dark state.
Further, taking an extreme case where one pixel region includes only one pixel, the current pixel needs to present 276 gray levels, but the current pixel can present only 256 gray levels at maximum, and the other 20 gray levels need to be realized by adjusting the target brightness value through the backlight. When the backlight brightness is adjusted, the number of gray scales actually increased may exceed 20 gray scales, and no matter the number is equal to 20 gray scales or exceeds 20 gray scales, as long as the extra 20 gray scales can be displayed.
And S103, sending a brightness control signal to each backlight area according to each target brightness value so as to control different backlight areas to present different brightness.
And sending a first brightness control signal to each preset backlight area and sending a second brightness control signal to other backlight areas except the preset backlight area because the target brightness value of each backlight area is determined, wherein the first brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal adjusted according to the target brightness value and the backlight reference brightness value, and the second brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal corresponding to the backlight reference brightness value.
The backlight is divided into a plurality of backlight areas to be controlled, each backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, before a picture is displayed, the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed is determined, then the target brightness value of each backlight area is determined according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, the brightness value of the backlight area corresponding to the pixel area needing to increase the gray scale number is adjusted, the increase of the gray scale number of the pixel area is achieved, the operation of the whole process is simple, the current situation of products does not need to be changed, the product performance is improved, and the picture is displayed more finely.
In some cases, the image does not need to show excessive details, so that 256 gray levels of the existing LCD panel can be realized, based on the above consideration, in the embodiment of the present disclosure, before determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray level number of the image to be displayed and the gray level number of the LCD panel, it may be detected whether the gray level number of the image to be displayed is greater than the gray level number of the LCD panel, only when the gray level number of the image to be displayed is greater than the gray level number of the LCD panel, the target brightness value of each backlight area is determined according to the gray level number of the image to be displayed and the gray level number of the LCD panel, otherwise, the brightness value of the backlight area is not adjusted, and the reference brightness value is adopted.
The above process is exemplified with reference to the accompanying drawings and specific examples.
The LCD panel generally adopts 256 gray scale display, and the multi-gray scale display can be realized by the method of backlight brightness adjustment and LCD gray scale control, so that the product performance is improved.
The structure of the conventional display screen can be as shown in fig. 2, and comprises a backlight and an LCD panel, wherein the backlight is divided into a plurality of regions, which can be independently controlled (e.g. Mini-LEDs, etc.).
When the picture required to be displayed is determined, the picture is operated to determine the number of gray scales required by the whole screen, for example, if 500 gray scales are found after calculation, which display areas need to realize bright-state multi-gray scales and which display areas need to realize dark-state multi-gray scales are further determined, and signals are respectively transmitted to a backlight control unit (used for controlling each backlight area) and an LCD panel. The backlight control unit controls different areas of the backlight to present different brightness, and the LCD panel is used for finely adjusting the picture, thereby realizing multi-gray scale display.
When the LCD panel needs bright multi-gray scale, as shown in fig. 3, the brightness of the corresponding area of the backlight is adjusted, and if the brightness of the bright area of the corresponding frame is increased by 2 times, the brightness of the display screen is increased by two times under the same gray scale, calculated by taking the brightness of the original frame L255 as 100, the brightness corresponding to L186 can reach 100 after backlight increment, and the gray scale after L186 is the increased gray scale, that is, the panel is increased by 69 gray scale (255-186 ═ 69 gray scale).
When the LCD panel needs dark multi-gray scale, as shown in fig. 4, the brightness of the corresponding area of the backlight is adjusted, if the brightness of the bright area of the corresponding frame is reduced by 0.2 times, at this time, the brightness of the display screen is reduced by 0.2 times under the same gray scale, and the brightness of the original frame L255 is calculated as 100, at this time, the brightness is reduced to 20 (corresponding to the 123 gray scale when the brightness of the backlight is not reduced), and the LCD panel splits the brightness of 20 according to the 255 gray scales, so that the dark gray scale is increased by 132 (255-123-132 gray scale).
In specific implementation, the gray scales which are increased can be determined through the relation of the brightness and gray scale corresponding relation table.
A second embodiment of the present disclosure provides an apparatus for displaying a picture, the apparatus having a structure schematically shown in fig. 5, including:
the first determining module 10 is used for determining the gray scale quantity of the picture to be displayed; a second determining module 20, coupled to the first determining module 10, configured to determine a target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray scale number of the to-be-displayed picture and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, where one backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, and one pixel area includes one or more pixels; and the sending module 30, coupled to the second determining module 20, is configured to send a brightness control signal to each backlight area according to each target brightness value, so as to control different backlight areas to present different brightness.
In a specific implementation, the second determining module may include: the detection unit is used for detecting whether the gray scale quantity of the picture to be displayed is larger than that of the LCD panel; and the determining unit is used for determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel under the condition that the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed is larger than the gray scale number of the LCD panel.
The second determining module (which may be a determining unit in some cases) is specifically configured to: determining each preset pixel area with the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed exceeding the gray scale number of the LCD panel; determining a predetermined backlight area corresponding to the predetermined pixel area; and calculating the target brightness value of the preset backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed corresponding to the preset backlight area and the gray scale number of the LCD panel.
For example, the number of gray scales of the whole to-be-displayed picture is 500, which exceeds the number of gray scales of the LCD panel, but the gray scales that can be presented by the LCD panel itself cannot be changed, so that under the condition that the pixels of the LCD panel normally display the corresponding gray scales, the gray scales of the pixel regions are not enough to support the gray scale requirements of the to-be-displayed picture, and therefore, the luminance values of the backlight regions need to be respectively adjusted to increase the number of gray scales, so that the picture is displayed more finely; for precise adjustment, the less pixels contained in the pixel region, the finer the adjustment of the luminance value of the backlight region; the brightness value can be increased or decreased on the backlight reference brightness value, and the specific situation is determined according to whether the gray scale is a bright state or a dark state.
Since the target brightness value of each backlight area is already determined, the sending module is specifically configured to: and sending a first brightness control signal to each preset backlight area, and sending a second brightness control signal to other backlight areas except the preset backlight areas, wherein the first brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal adjusted according to the target brightness value and the backlight reference brightness value, and the second brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal corresponding to the backlight reference brightness value.
A third embodiment of the present disclosure provides a storage medium, which is a computer-readable medium storing a computer program, which when executed by a processor implements the method provided in any embodiment of the present disclosure, including the following steps S11 to S13:
