In order to keep the following description of the embodiments of the present disclosure clear and concise, the present disclosure omits detailed description of known functions and known components.
The existing LCD display products are difficult to increase the gray scale number of the display products due to voltage limitation, and thus, more refined display requirements cannot be realized. However, as the existing picture needs to display more detail content, the fineness of the screen display is required to be higher and higher, the gray scale number of the existing LCD display product is fixed, the display requirement of finer display cannot be met, and the product performance is poor.
Based on the above-mentioned considerations, a first embodiment of the present disclosure provides a method for displaying a screen, the flow of which is shown in fig. 1, including steps S101 to S103:
s101, determining the gray scale number of a picture to be displayed.
The frame to be displayed is a frame to be displayed on the whole display screen, and because the frames have different display precision requirements, the gray scale number is determined according to the different display precision requirements of the frames. For example, the number of gray levels of a common picture is completely within 256 gray levels, so that the existing display screen can be realized, but if one picture needs 500 gray levels, the existing display screen cannot display according to the original precision of the picture, and a certain detail loss exists in the picture displayed on the display screen relative to the original picture data, so that the embodiment of the disclosure needs to determine what the number of gray levels of the whole picture to be displayed is.
The display screen of the embodiment of the disclosure is typically an LCD display screen, which further includes an LCD panel and a backlight, and in the case that the LCD panel cannot increase the gray scale, the embodiment of the disclosure considers that the gray scale number is increased by adjusting the backlight, so as to realize more gray scales.
S102, determining target brightness values of backlight areas according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, wherein one backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, and one pixel area comprises one or more pixels.
For LCD panels, the gray levels are generally classified into bright and dark states, for example, L0-L127 is a dark gray level, and L128-L255 is a bright gray level, so that when determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the number of gray levels of the to-be-displayed picture and the number of gray levels of the LCD panel, it may be determined as a whole, that is, whether the number of gray levels of the to-be-displayed picture is greater than 256, or it may be detected according to the bright gray level and the dark gray level, that is, whether the number of dark gray levels of the to-be-displayed picture is greater than 128, or whether the number of bright gray levels of the to-be-displayed picture is greater than 128.
For the mode of separately detecting the dark gray scale, when the number of the dark gray scales of the picture to be displayed is larger than that of the dark gray scales of the LCD panel, it is determined that more dark gray scales need to be displayed, and then 128 gray scales (L0-L127) corresponding to the original LCD panel cannot meet the dark state display requirement of the display picture, so that the increase of the dark gray scales can be realized by adjusting the target brightness value of the backlight area, that is, the backlight is downwards adjusted (the adjustment can be adjusted according to a certain proportion) under the condition of the original reference brightness value, the adjusted brightness value is used as the target brightness value, and further more gray scales can be displayed through superposition of the brightness of the LCD panel and the backlight.
For the mode of individually detecting the bright gray scale, when the number of the bright gray scales of the picture to be displayed is larger than that of the bright gray scales of the LCD panel, it is determined that more bright gray scales need to be displayed, and then 128 gray scales (L128-L255) corresponding to the original LCD panel cannot meet the bright display requirement of the display picture, so that the bright gray scales can be increased by adjusting the target brightness value of the backlight area, that is, the backlight is adjusted upwards (the adjustment can be adjusted according to a certain proportion) under the condition of the original reference brightness value, the adjusted brightness value is used as the target brightness value, and more gray scales can be displayed through superposition of the LCD panel and the backlight brightness.
Because one backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, in the process of determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray scale number of a picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of an LCD panel, whether a mode of integral detection of a display screen or a mode of independent detection of dark gray scale and bright gray scale is adopted, the target brightness value of each backlight area can be determined only by finally falling into one backlight area; when implemented, the target luminance value of the backlight area may be determined as follows: determining each preset pixel area of which the gray scale number of a picture to be displayed exceeds the gray scale number of the LCD panel; determining a predetermined backlight area corresponding to the predetermined pixel area; and calculating a target brightness value of the preset backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed corresponding to the preset backlight area and the gray scale number of the LCD panel.
For example, the number of gray scales of the whole picture to be displayed is 500, which exceeds the number of gray scales of the LCD panel, but the gray scales which can be displayed by the LCD panel cannot be changed, so that the gray scales of the pixel area are insufficient to support the gray scale requirement of the picture to be displayed under the condition that the pixels of the LCD panel normally display the corresponding gray scales, and the brightness values of the backlight areas are required to be respectively adjusted to increase the number of gray scales, so that the picture display is finer; for accurate adjustment, the fewer pixels contained in the pixel region, the finer the brightness value adjustment of the backlight region; the brightness value may be increased or decreased from the reference brightness value of the backlight, and in particular, may be determined according to whether the gray scale is in a bright state or a dark state.
Taking the extreme example that one pixel area only comprises one pixel, the current pixel needs to display 276 gray scales, but the current pixel can only display 256 gray scales at maximum, and the other 20 gray scales need to be realized by adjusting the target brightness value through the backlight. When the backlight brightness is adjusted, the actual number of gray levels may be more than 20 gray levels, whether equal to 20 gray levels or more than 20 gray levels, so long as the extra 20 gray levels can be displayed.
And S103, sending brightness control signals to each backlight area according to each target brightness value so as to control different backlight areas to present different luminous brightness.
And sending a first brightness control signal to each preset backlight area and sending a second brightness control signal to other backlight areas except the preset backlight area, wherein the first brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal adjusted according to the target brightness value and the backlight reference brightness value, and the second brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal corresponding to the backlight reference brightness value.
According to the embodiment of the disclosure, the backlight is divided into a plurality of backlight areas to control, each backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, before the image is displayed, the gray scale number of the image to be displayed is determined, then the target brightness value of each backlight area is determined according to the gray scale number of the image to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, and the brightness value of the backlight area corresponding to the pixel area with the gray scale number required to be increased is regulated, so that the increase of the gray scale number of the pixel area is realized, the whole process is simple to operate, the current situation of a product is not required to be changed, the product performance is improved, and the image is enabled to be displayed more finely.
In some cases, the screen does not need to show too many details, so that 256 gray scales of the existing LCD panel can be achieved, based on the above consideration, in the embodiments of the disclosure, before determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray scale number of the screen to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, whether the gray scale number of the screen to be displayed is greater than the gray scale number of the LCD panel may be detected, and only if the gray scale number of the screen to be displayed is greater than the gray scale number of the LCD panel, the target brightness value of each backlight area is determined according to the gray scale number of the screen to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel, otherwise, the brightness values of the backlight areas are not adjusted, and all the reference brightness values are adopted.
The above-described processes are exemplarily described below with reference to the accompanying drawings and specific examples.
In general, 256 gray scale display is adopted in an LCD panel, and the embodiment of the disclosure can realize multi-gray scale display by a method of backlight brightness adjustment and LCD gray scale control, thereby improving product performance.
The structure of the existing display screen can be shown in fig. 2, and comprises a backlight and an LCD panel, wherein the backlight is divided into a plurality of areas and can be independently controlled (such as Mini-LEDs, etc.).
When the picture to be displayed is determined, the picture is operated to determine what gray scale is needed for the whole screen, for example, 500 gray scales are found to be needed after the operation is completed, which display areas need to realize bright state multi-gray scales and which display areas need to realize dark state multi-gray scales are further confirmed, and signals are respectively transmitted to a backlight control unit (used for controlling each backlight area) and an LCD panel. The backlight control unit controls different areas of the backlight to display different brightness, and the LCD panel is used for fine adjustment of the picture, so that multi-gray-scale display is realized.
When the LCD panel needs multiple gray levels in bright state, as shown in fig. 3, the brightness of the corresponding area of the backlight is adjusted, for example, the brightness of the corresponding bright state area of the screen is increased by 2 times, at this time, the brightness of the display screen is increased by two times under the same gray level, calculated by taking the brightness of the original screen L255 as 100, the brightness corresponding to L186 after the backlight increment can reach 100, and the gray level after L186 is the increased gray level, that is, 69 gray levels (255-186=69 gray levels) are added to the panel.
When the LCD panel needs dark-state multi-gray scale, as shown in fig. 4, the brightness of the corresponding area of the backlight is adjusted, for example, the brightness of the bright-state area of the corresponding frame is reduced by 0.2 times, at this time, the brightness of the display screen is reduced by 0.2 times under the same gray scale, calculated by taking the brightness of the original frame L255 as 100, at this time, the brightness is reduced to 20 (corresponding to 123 gray scales when the brightness of the backlight is not reduced), the LCD panel splits the brightness of 20 according to 255 gray scales, and 132 dark-state gray scales are increased (255-123=132 gray scales).
In specific implementation, how many gray scales are increased can be determined by the relation of the brightness and the gray scale corresponding relation table.
A second embodiment of the present disclosure provides an apparatus for displaying a picture, the apparatus having a structure schematically shown in fig. 5, including:
a first determining module 10, configured to determine the number of gray scales of a frame to be displayed; a second determining module 20, coupled to the first determining module 10, for determining a target brightness value of each backlight area according to the number of gray scales of the picture to be displayed and the number of gray scales of the LCD panel, wherein one backlight area corresponds to one pixel area, and one pixel area includes one or more pixels; and a transmitting module 30 coupled to the second determining module 20, for transmitting a brightness control signal to each backlight area according to each target brightness value, so as to control different backlight areas to present different light-emitting brightness.
In a specific implementation, the second determining module may include: the detection unit is used for detecting whether the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed is larger than that of the LCD panel; and the determining unit is used for determining the target brightness value of each backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed and the gray scale number of the LCD panel under the condition that the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed is larger than the gray scale number of the LCD panel.
The second determination module (possibly the determination unit in some cases) is specifically configured to: determining each preset pixel area of which the gray scale number of a picture to be displayed exceeds the gray scale number of the LCD panel; determining a predetermined backlight area corresponding to the predetermined pixel area; and calculating a target brightness value of the preset backlight area according to the gray scale number of the picture to be displayed corresponding to the preset backlight area and the gray scale number of the LCD panel.
Since the target brightness value of each backlight area has been determined, the above-mentioned transmitting module is specifically configured to: and transmitting a first brightness control signal to each preset backlight area and transmitting a second brightness control signal to other backlight areas except the preset backlight area, wherein the first brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal adjusted according to the target brightness value and the backlight reference brightness value, and the second brightness control signal is a reference brightness control signal corresponding to the backlight reference brightness value.
A third embodiment of the present disclosure provides a storage medium, which is a computer-readable medium storing a computer program that, when executed by a processor, implements the method provided by any embodiment of the present disclosure, including steps S11 to S13 as follows:
