Description

Steering calculator comprising an electronic board provided with a functional area and a connector area
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of power steering systems for vehicles, and more particularly to a steering calculator and a vehicle including such a steering calculator.
Background
The steering system of a vehicle is intended to enable the driver to control the trajectory of the vehicle by exerting a force on the steering wheel.
Generally, the steering system includes a plurality of elements, including the steering wheel coupled to the steering column, a rack, and two wheels, each coupled to a tie rod. The rack is a part that allows the steering wheel to be coupled to the wheels via the steering column by means of tie rods; that is, the rack translates the force applied by the driver on the steering wheel into rotation of the wheels of the vehicle.
An electric power steering system for a vehicle includes an auxiliary motor operated by a steering calculator to reduce the force provided by the driver on the steering wheel to turn the wheels of the vehicle.
More specifically, the turn-around calculator includes a printed circuit, also known as an electronics board, positioned in a sealed housing known as a calculator housing. The calculator housing ensures that the printed circuit remains in a clean environment, in order to guarantee its reliability during the operation of the vehicle. A clean environment is defined as a medium in which the humidity level and dust level are controlled. In contrast, a dirty environment is therefore defined as a humidity level and a dust level that change uncontrollably in the medium.
The steering calculator also comprises an electrical harness which allows, on the one hand, the power supply to the steering calculator and, on the other hand, the communication with other elements of the vehicle. The wire is a cable insulated by an insulating sheath. The wires are typically coupled to the printed circuit via a connection box. More specifically, the wires are coupled to a connector, which in turn is coupled to a connection contact of the calculator housing. The junction box thus provides a sealed interface between the printed circuit, which must be maintained in a clean environment, and the electrical wiring harness positioned in the vehicle (in other words, in a dirty environment).
As shown in fig. 1, a steering calculator 1 ' is known, which comprises a connection box 2 ' fastened to a cover 3 ' of a calculator housing 4 ' by screws 5 '. For this purpose, the cover 3 'comprises a stud 31' into which a screw is inserted.
The steering calculator 1 ' also comprises a wire 61 ' bundle 6 ' and a protective cover 7 ' for the wires 61 ', which protective cover is also fastened to the cover 3 ' of the calculator housing 4 ' by means of screws 5 ' in the same way as the connection box 2 '.
More specifically, the electric wire 61 ' is coupled to the connector 21 ' of the connection box 2 ' by soldering. The connector 21 ' is in turn coupled to a connection contact 41 ' of the calculator housing 4 '.
In order to ensure the sealing of the junction box 2 ', the junction box is filled with resin 8'.
In general, the steering calculator is manufactured as follows: the printed circuit is mounted in a first location in the calculator housing having a clean environment known as a "clean room". The calculator housing is closed in the first position. Thus, when leaving the first position, the calculator housing is sealed (the printed circuit is thus protected) and has connection contacts on the outer surface. The calculator housing is close to the vehicle to be secured or another factory that is not considered a "clean room". Then, the connector of the connection box is welded to the connection contact, and the connection box is fastened by a screw on the cover. The wire harness is soldered to the connector. Finally, resin is injected into the junction box so as to seal the junction box.
The present invention aims to provide a steering calculator having lower volume and manufacturing costs, and improved electrical performance compared to state of the art steering calculators.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is a steering calculator for a vehicle comprising at least one electronic board, wherein the at least one electronic board comprises at least one functional area provided with at least one electronic component and at least one connector area provided with at least one connection contact, the at least one functional area being positioned completely inside a calculator housing in a sealed manner and the at least one connector area being positioned outside the calculator housing.
The functional area includes electronic components, that is, electronic elements intended to perform functions. The functional region is enclosed in a sealed manner in the computer housing, so that the computer housing protects the electronic components from the external environment. For example, the calculator housing ensures the reliability of the functional area during the operation of the vehicle by preventing short circuits.
The connector area is an area of the electronic board that does not comprise any electronic components but only connection contacts.
The connector area and the functional area are different areas of the same electronic board. The connector area and the functional area are determined during the design process of the electronic board.
According to the invention, the electronic board is mounted in the calculator housing in a first position with a clean environment. The calculator housing is closed in this first position. Thus, upon exiting the first position, the calculator housing is sealed. The electronics are partially inside the calculator housing and partially outside the calculator housing. More specifically, the functional area is in the calculator housing, while the connector area is external and remains accessible. The connector region has accessible connection contacts. The calculator housing is brought to a position undefined in the clean place, where it is fastened. Then, the wire harness is soldered to the contact. The wires are thus directly connected to the electronic board.
This design allows to simplify the steering calculator, since the wire harness is directly connected to the electronic board, without the need of a box provided with connectors as in the prior art. Thus, the steering calculator comprises fewer parts compared to the prior art, which allows to reduce weight, cost and volume thereof. Finally, since the wires are directly connected to the electronic board, there is no longer any connection interface. Thus, line loss is reduced and reliability of connection is improved. Thus, the electrical performance is improved.
According to a feature of the invention, the calculator housing includes a sealing wall positioned between the functional region and the connector region.
The sealing wall is in contact with the electronic board at the level of the junction between the functional area and the connector area. Thus, the sealing wall allows to physically separate the functional area from the connector area.
According to a feature of the invention, the sealing wall is provided with a silicone gasket.
According to a feature of the invention, the sealing walls are positioned on either side of the electronic board so as to sandwich said electronic board.
The electronic board is thus in fact divided into two by the sealing wall, on the one hand the functional area and on the other hand the connector area.
According to a feature of the invention, at least one wire is connected to at least one connection contact.
The electrical connection of the electronic board is therefore particularly simple and robust.
According to a feature of the invention, at least one wire is soldered to at least one contact head,
therefore, the reliability of the electrical connection is improved.
According to a feature of the invention, the connector zone is positioned in the connection box.
The connector area is thus protected from external attack by the envelope made of the connection box. The volume of the connection box is independent of the volume formed by the housing of the calculator.
According to a feature of the present invention, the connection box is embedded in the sealing resin.
After soldering the wires on the connection contacts of the electronic board, a resin is injected into the connection box in order to achieve the sealing of the connection box.
Therefore, the resin ensures sealing of the electrical connection and good mechanical strength.
According to a feature of the invention, the sealing resin forms a "cohesive failure" adhesion between the at least one wire and the at least one connection contact.
"cohesive failure" adhesion means that, in the case of a drawn-out wire, a break will occur inside the resin or insulating sheath. Cohesive failure indicates that the wire/resin or connection contact/resin interface behaves stronger than the material itself.
Therefore, the electric wire is perfectly fixed to the contact.
According to a feature of the invention, the calculator housing is made of metal.
Thus, the computer case effectively ensures protection of the electronic board.
According to one feature, the connection box is made at least partially of plastic.
Therefore, the resin adheres to the connection box, and the mechanical strength of the electrical connection is improved.
The invention also relates to a vehicle comprising a steering calculator according to the invention.
