The present invention provides a system and method that can display an accurate vehicle location description statement on a vehicle display, which can be updated in real time so that accurate location descriptions can be quickly provided to a user (e.g., a driver) when the user needs to know his or her accurate location.
Reference is now made to fig. 1 and 2. Fig. 1 illustrates a method of extracting location information from a map and editing the location information of a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention, and fig. 2 illustrates a schematic diagram of a system for providing a description of the location of a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention. The processor 202 of the vehicle system may communicate with, for example, the map 204, and obtain information from the map 204 that is needed for the description of the vehicle's location, which may include: the name of a fixed marker in the vicinity of the vehicle, the distance of the vehicle from the fixed marker, and the direction of travel of the vehicle. Based on the information obtained, processor 202 may execute an information editing algorithm, re-edit the information, and display the edited information on display 206 in communication with processor 202.
For example, in the example map of fig. 1, the name of the street where the current vehicle is located (new and medium), the name of the street where the vehicle is about to enter (starwarway), the distance from the street where the vehicle is about to enter (333 m), and the direction indicator (east, south, west, north) are dispersedly displayed. For users (such as drivers), especially in emergency situations, the listing of such scattered and non-important information on the map makes it necessary for users to spend a lot of time observing, judging, organizing and memorizing to accurately describe their own location. In addition, the user may need to obtain the information through a mobile phone, a tablet computer, and the like, and the driving safety is affected by the use of the information. Embodiments of the present invention may utilize processor 202 to extract such information, for example, from a map, re-edit the information via an algorithm to obtain a textual description of the exact location of the vehicle at the intersection of the new and middle avenues and the Xinghua street, 333 meters east west, and send this edited location description to display 206 for display.
Fig. 3A and 3B respectively illustrate display interfaces providing a description of a vehicle location according to embodiments of the present invention. As shown in fig. 3A and 3B, the edited information may include a location description that concatenates the map-based information items in a text description manner. For example, "where the new avenue meets the long avenue of sunny street, 335 meters east to west" in fig. 3A, "i now go from xx to xx at xx high speeds, leaving xx in the xx service area at xx kilometers plus xx meters. This textual location description may be displayed in the first display area 302, 402 of the display interface, for example, below the display interface, across the width of the entire screen, for ease of viewing by the user. The first region 302, 402 may further include separately displayed directions, such as "westward" as shown in FIG. 3A and "eastward" as shown in FIG. 3B. Directional icons may also be additionally displayed to visualize the display. In embodiments of the present application, the driving direction of the vehicle may be a direction description combining one or more of the conventional east, south, west, north, such as east, west, north east, south west, etc. In addition, the driving direction of the vehicle in the present application may also be an indirect direction, such as an exit direction of a certain highway, a street direction in which a certain tunnel exit is located, and the like.
The display interface may further include a second display area, such as area 304 in FIG. 3A and area 404 in FIG. 3B. The second display regions 304 and 404 may include: the simple drawing of the surroundings of the vehicle and the enlarged names of the fixed markers, such as "new and medium road" and "long yang street" in fig. 3A and "jinghu high speed" in fig. 3B, are convenient for the user to view. Similarly, other icons or graphics, such as those shown in fig. 3A and 3B, may additionally be displayed to make the display more visually appealing.
The display interface may further include a third display area, such as area 306 in fig. 3A and area 406 in fig. 3B. The third display areas 306 and 406 may display the traveling direction of the vehicle and a direction opposite to the traveling direction. Such as "eastern, western" as shown in fig. 3A, 3B. Appropriate heading information, such as "below high speed" shown in fig. 3B, may be added depending on the actual location of the vehicle. The current driving direction of the vehicle determined by the system can be shown in different forms, such as different colors, font sizes, etc., so as to be emphasized and recognized. In further embodiments, the third display areas 306 and 406 may be associated with the orientation adjustment function in the first display areas 302 and 402, respectively. For example, the user may make a direction correction through the direction switching buttons in the first display areas 302 and 402. Accordingly, the current direction, and the visual direction indication icons (if any) displayed in the first display area 302 and 402 (e.g., lower left corner of fig. 3A and 3B), and in the third display area 306 and 406, may be adaptively displayed based on user adjustments.
The display interface may further include a fourth display area, such as area 308 in FIG. 3A and area 408 in FIG. 3B. The fourth display areas 308 and 408 may display emergency information. As shown in fig. 3A and 3B, the emergency information may include one or more of the following: traffic accident alarm call and emergency treatment measures. One or more of a traffic accident warning phone, an emergency treatment measure, may be provided based on the type of road on which the vehicle is traveling. For example, the example of FIG. 3A is a scene of driving in a city street, and thus the accident alarm phone is 112; in the example of fig. 3B, the scenario is driving at high speed, and thus the accident alarm call is 12122. Furthermore, fig. 3B additionally includes the handling measures "car-side, people evacuation, i.e. alarm" for a highway vehicle fault or traffic accident. Such information is useful for drivers in the face of emergency situations, as human beings in emergency situations, judgment, memory, etc. are affected to varying degrees. The emergency information is directly provided for the user, so that the user can respond timely, and the processing efficiency of the accident situation is improved.
It should be understood that the above division of one or more display areas is relative only. The various display regions may overlap, transition, or otherwise be rearranged, etc. Furthermore, it is not required that all display areas be included. Only one or more of the above-described display regions may be selected. Some icons can be added or deleted, so that the display interface is concise and clear, the emphasis is prominent, and the image is attractive.
The above examples describe locations primarily with roads (e.g., street or highway names) as fixed markers. However, the present invention may also be used with other fixed markers to describe locations, such as landmark buildings and the like, including but not limited to buildings, cells, schools, hospitals, stations, airports, high speed service areas, and the like. It may be preferable to describe a location using a road, particularly the intersection of two roads, because such a description may be easier to locate in some cases. The roads may be various types of roads including ordinary streets, highways, tunnels, bridges, etc. in cities and villages.
The solution of the invention can also be applied in many special scenarios, such as tunnels, bridges, stations, airports, hospitals, schools, etc. For example, for the location description in the tunnel, the location description provided by the technology of the invention can be 'Duvilla lake tunnel, Star lake street 500 meters'.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the edited information interface may not be displayed on the display all the time, but may be displayed on the display only when the user invokes the function. This functionality of the present invention may be implemented as a vehicle application. The application may preferably run in the background of the vehicle system without the interface of the application remaining in the foreground at all times. The position information may be displayed on the screen of the vehicle only when the user needs to call the position information. For example, the user may manually select the application to bring up a background running application, as an example. More preferably, the user may call up the application running in the background by means of a shortcut card provided on the vehicle, a shortcut button, or by means of voice. The application may be automatically enabled when the user starts the vehicle. The application may also be opened manually by the user.
Fig. 4 shows a flow chart of a method of providing a location description according to an embodiment of the invention. The location description service may be provided after the function is enabled.
